Lyrics:
Jesus just left Chicago
And he's bound for New Orleans
Well now, Jesus just left Chicago
And he's bound for New Orleans, yeah
Working from one end to the other
And all points in between
Took a jog through Mississippi
Well, muddy water turned to wine
Took a jog through Mississippi
Muddy water turned to wine, yeah
Then out to California
Through the forests and the pines
Ah, take me with you, Jesus
You might not see him in person
But he'll see you just the same
You might not see him in person
But he'll see you just the same, hey
You don't have to worry
'Cause taking care of business is his name

This proves right here how out of touch the big music industry is with most of America. This is what should be on the radio
@Cmoney Munro you couldn’t be more right! Not a single station I’ve heard that is giving air time to great music such as this.
I totally understand that we found them years ago but you hear some on yellow Stone and hunting season 😜
Our music (and movies) was/were taken over around 1992-1993 and made to be crap - i.e. grunge, and the rise of hiphop. BBS is an outlier, and they will gain popularity because of this. BBS is like Ronnie Van Zant, Duane Allman, Bon Scott, Toy Caldwell, & Charlie Daniels are all punching us in the face from beyond the grave to wake us all up.
Why my friend?? Ws hearin it zo what or who else matters??? PLAYLISTS & BLUETOOTH°°° TO HELL WITH Mainstream, they have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on us
Money pays the bills. I love this stuff too, but there's not enough of us left. Harsh reality. I use free spotify, some ads, less than radio, and it feeds me this stuff! No need for the radio anymore frankly.
When Blackberry Smoke covers a song, they always, ALWAYS do it justice. They are just objectively fantastic and talented musicians with great sense to honor the original song by capturing most of the nuances and all of the vibes of the songs they cover.
One of my favorites was when I saw them do No Quarter.
Charlie did once on Curtis Loew.
Other then that 🤷🏽
The version of Happy is mind blowing.
@@chasetower6773
"Charlie did once on Curtis Loew" ??
Truth!
@@chasetower6773 I've seen them do that when Benji was playing with them. You know, it seems he has become more of a permanent fixture with the band. Same with the extra percussionist.
Are these 8 people that gave this a thumbs down tone deaf? What an amazing tribute to Dusty!!! Y'all nailed this one! My neighbors are gonna be listening to this on repeat whether they like it or not!
Unfortunately with all the lousy music out there people have forgotten what good music sounds like anymore,
Amen!!!
Well Tina, Ron White said it best, "You can't fix stupid".
@@charlesparr3296 Amen to that!
Idiots abound
Who needs corporate Let the Greats Rock
charlie start 1f you ever see this....you and blackberry smoke have got me through the dark days of kicking cancers ass...thanks brother you and the rest of the band are very talented musicians...
I am grateful to hear of another survivor! Keep up he good fight and God bless you.
Hey Tim Are you from Phoenix or Cave Creek? Anyway congratulations on wipping the C
Stay positive I'm a 2 time survivor . You can get over it.
@@tomcooley3778 Thanks Tom……I’m in South Carolina
@@dragoneyesus6796 Hey Dragon….I’m also a 2 time survivor…..Now I’m dealing with reconstructive surgery from all the radiation damage…..you’re absolutely correct ….I will get over and congratulations to you on surviving twice…I have always told myself there’s others worse off than I am…..They are the ones I’m cheering for.
Gregg and Dickey’s boys
Killing it👍🇬🇧👍
These guys did a damn good job in paying tribute to a great Texan….and Dusty would have said Hell Yes…👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hell yes he would have! : ) I have to play along every time this video comes up. Blackberry Smoke's got so much soul.
Headphones are not enough for the Blueberry Smoke..would give an appendage to hear them live 24/7 in concerto..non stop...🌹
You can come to my house and listen. I've generally got them cranked way up and I have a stereo that almost does them justice. : )
Oh how I agree with everyone here. I'm now 74 years old and have been playing guitar since I was 12 years old, so you older musicians, especially, know where I'm coming from. We have seen the inception and rise of Rock and Roll, and the rise and fall, and rise again of Blues. When I was a very young boy, like 3 years old, my sister who was approaching her early teens, used to bring home the old 45 RPM's and play them on her old record player. But far from treating me like the annoying little brother, she had me sit down with her and listen to all the records she brought. Bill Haley and the Comets, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis and all the others. She was largely the catalyst for me developing my love of music and my taste for music. I may have never taken up guitar were it not for her.
So, especially you older folks can understand my journey through music. We are so fortunate to have been there and to truly know what good music is all about, right?! Thank you for sharing this great video with all of us. I have never seen it or heard it! I loved this song, and still do, since the first time I heard it! To be honest, Blues can be hard to listen to after several bars of a song. That is unless it is very very good, original and has the right licks and lyrics. And this is a great one! Of course, there are many other great Bluesmen, B.B. King, Bobby Blues Bland, and in my opinion, the greatest Stevie Ray Vaughan. Others might disagree, but we all have our opinions, right. Thanks again for sharing this great video. God Bless you all. Live, Love and give Love.
It's been said that if you play the blues, you'll never be without a gig. Coming of age in the late 60"s/early 70's I've listened to a lot of music. But I always come back to the blues.
Sensacional
I remember listening to Elvis,, Beatles and Lennon and Yoko and many more on 78's
Charlie Starr is the Mad Hatter of Southern Rock!!!!
That was just amazing!!
It's really a damn shame that radio today sucks because this is the best band no one's ever heard of!!
Oops, pressed the wrong button. Awesome band.
Fna
Amen! I agree! I just landed on one of their videos today...never heard of them. This is great stuff!
They are the best post 2000 band period. Any questions?
We've heard em! SCREW THE RADIO!! Who needs em? Song lists & BLUETOOTH!! Let em continue to shoot theirselves in the ass
Maybe the best cover ever.

I haven't loved a band this much, since I was turned on the Grateful Dead years and years ago. I will always be an eternal fan! Thanks for the amazing tunes, brothers - and for not becoming a rehashed country radio band.
Keep on keeping on! ✌️
That was a worthy tribute.
BBS does things right!
Always
Awesome guys
BBS continues to embody Southern rich musical legacy as they have for the past two decades, honoring the people, places and songs like that paying tribute to Dusty
These two bands just fit together perfectly and make up one big rock and roll orchestra.
I agree absolutely! What a treat to watch them play together! Love it!❤️
They have the same DNA
BlackBerry smoke is the best there is.
Hey that’s Devon Allman! Greg’s little boy kicking ass!
And Dickie Betts’ kid.
And Berry Oakley's kid.
Maybe we'll get a second coming of the Allman Lord...
BBS. The next great Southern Rock Band.
This makes the hair on the back of my neck stand out and gives me the chills… LAWD HAVE MERCY…
Please come to Philly 🙏
I remember these cats playing in my yard . Old ass single wide trailer literally 30 ft from a railroad track . They're kicked ass 30 years ago and kick ass today.
SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!! The Allman, Betts, and Oakley boys have gone and done their fathers proud and that ain’t no joke!!! As far as BBS boys going with the proper southern rock band adding percussion, backup singers and in my opinion one of the greatest guitarist out there right now Benji Shenks on third guitar!!!!! Wow jus WOW!!!!! Love the idea of these smoking hot players doing a tribute to brother Dusty Hill. #CLASS boys #PURECLASS!!!!!!!!
This is SOOOO GREAT!!
Now we'll have to add a Charlie Watts Tribute.... :-(
And they of course did last Saturday night in Saratoga Springs NY
Thank you for doing it right.
Man I love these guys, they can play anything. Not to mention there own music. Best band around right now 👍
You can never have too many guitarists.
Well now there's a Rythmn section TO DIE for just formed......dustys bass,Charlie Watts drumming and malcolm young on Rythmn guitar!!!!!!
And don't forget Alto Reed on Sax .
SRV has the departed blues folk jamming all day...
Don't forget Charlie on his golden fiddle!

Saw Smoke last week at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Allman Betts Band opened, then Blackberry Smoke, then Skynyrd. A great show. My girl is not a huge southern rock fan, and she loved it too. Said the songs and images stuck in her head all week at work lol.
Excellent rendition. Respectful too. No overplaying, which some players would have done. Credit to all those on stage. Would love to see more songs by this extended band.
Every song they do is a party! Love this band!
Nailed it!!!
I love watching him play guitar n dance , one of the best to do it . If you ever get a chance to see Blackberry Smoke, don’t miss it
It’s a shame this wasn’t in Houston! As soon as this song would’ve started and Dusty’s picture would have started to raise…the crowd would have went totally nuts and the crowd would have sang to the top of their lungs. We are ZZ TOP and know about Dusty. BBS did an outstanding job and we will never forget Dusty Hill.
They played "I Thank You" in Dallas, followed by "Southbound" and "Midnight Rider". It was awesome.
Was at the Dallas show. Fantastic. Don't know if it was less crowded because of Covid or Thursday nite. I enjoyed the extra room but people were missing out not being there.
@@brerrabbit2334 Yep, great show.
Been a huge Dusty Hill/ZZ top fan since the 70s when as Jr. High students we would sneak into the old Houston Coliseum in downtown Houston during Thanksgiving to see ZZ Top. Great version of Jesus Just Left Chicago and I really liked how BBS kept the tempo slow and jammed with a mellow groove! This version makes you appreciate just how great and nasty Billy Gibbons' guitar solos are in the original version.
Ahh, the Coliseum in Houston. We may walked by each other.
That venerable boogie palace! Lucky my car knew the way home!
It is a shame they tore the coliseum down. I saw Dio at the Coliseum before the wonderful mayor stated her crap about a eye sore. Lack of policeing by there policies let all the homeless and all the problems with going to see a show cause that crap. I guess that is what they wanted so they could start those downtown rejuvenation projects. They should put up a historical marker where it use to stand. I had friends who attended Sam Houston high school where Billy and Dusty attended it too has been torn down. The only bad part is I was a bit young to see ZZ in the 70's by the time I came along they were Rocking the Astro dome. I would like to see them take sharp dressed man tie together deep blues and mix with southern rock. BBS can pull it off if anyone can. Dusty will always be Rocking our hearts 💙.
As good as anyone has ever been.
RIP DUSTY and now RIP CHARLIE WATTS 🙏🙏🙏☹️
Thank you, RIP Dusty
I was lucky enough to see them do that live.
Found this tribute over a year ago and probably watched this 100 time’s. Outstanding tune, wish I could find this on iTunes.
fantastic! rest in peace Dusty....
A Great Tribute to Dusty. Thanks Guys
Dusty. Watching down with a smile, gently strokes the beard while nodding n sayin, yea. everything gunna be alright.
Wish I was there .
Outstanding,Outstanding,Outstanding! There’s no doubt in this old man’s mind that they did Dusty proud! What a great version of a Blues Classic!
what a fitting tribute to Dusty ( R.I.P. ).....good on ya'll
A lot of talent on that stage and an awesome tribute to Dusty Hill.
We have seen these guys live four times, amazing music!
I have listened to this band on several occasions and they Always sound great. Much better than most of the crap that’s out there today.
Just farrkin speechless,,, man I'm knocked for 6... that is beautiful music.
Bueno, dudes. One of my standards every time I pick up my axe!!! Tastefully done! I want that hat!
Great so very beautiful. God bless Dusty
Wow! What a great band!
Gracias Blackberry por este homenaje. Descansa en paz Dusty!
Best American band of the last 30 years. Just a fact, deal with it.
Jesus Left Chicago long before Dusty Hill will. How have I never heard of this band before???? You guys killed it with this tribute, GREAT JOB!!!!!
Wish my husband was still alive so we could "dance" to this song.
Y'all can bet there are groups who are paying this forward by honoring a song or solo by Blackberry Smoke's Brit Turner † ☮️
That was Beautiful! Some FineAss Picking and Plucking right there.......You can not deny that these guys are....
Top of the Food Chain giving us this KickAss Rock*&*Roll.
Thank ye Bruddas!!! When BlackBerry Smoke plays ......

Dusty...
Easily my favorite group at the moment!
Amen brother Charlie RIP Dusty Hill
R.I.P. Dusty, You are truly missed... 💯💔🙏
Huge Greetings from Athens, Greece! Come here to rock all together guys!
Terrific rendition of one of ZZ’s best tunes. When I arrived late to Stevie Ray Vaughan’s funeral at Laurel Land in Dallas in August 1990 I walked into a tiny chapel filled with rock legends. The right half of the little sanctuary was packed. The left was completely empty except for ZZ Top sitting on the back row. As I walked in I felt a strange mix of shock, awe, sadness and pride as I quickly determined I’d sit in front of the guys in ZZ Top up several rows surrounded by empty pews. As I looked back I noticed Dusty fanning himself with a sheer handkerchief in a strangely limp wristed way that struck me. I was around him a few times over the years and it seems he was always smiling. What a huge talent he was.
RIP Dusty in Heaven & my Brother in Heaven J.Orosco RIP
Saw those ole boys in Bowling Green, KY. They kicked like they should ROCK ROLL THEY DO THIS SONG COOL MAN..
Well now i believe Old Dusty is most likely smiling down on this one. Great tribute to a legend by legends in the making!
Awesome tribute ty
I'll admit I'm not a big Southern rock fan but Charlie Starr is as good as it gets.
It’s a tie my two favorite young pickers, writers and singers are Billy Strings and Charlie Starr. Throw in Marcus King and it’s a trifecta.
You guys absolutely rock! RIP Dusty, thank you for the inspiration brother! Fly high!
I am so sad to read here, that Dusty Hill is now rocking in heaven - RIP. ZZ Top was my teenage music how cool is that!! Cheers from Switzerland.
@@theSunKing142 i was brought in through the portal to los tres hombres, the little ol' band from texas. They have rocked my whole entire life, only half of theirs! Legs will be my swan song. 😆
saw BBS 3x in 2014, Woodstock, Ga, Atlanta & Rome...are a class act, a must see in concert
I've not heard Blackcherry Smoke before. But I will hear them again! They were great!

Amazing tribute to a true legend
heard Dusty Hill do this song in 75 San Francisco,CA I was in the 3rd row!AWESOME! RIP Dusty.
I Absolutely Love listening to this, the lyrics are Sweet Jesus to my ears. I play this over and over and Again. "He will see you, just the same!!" Beautiful 💕💗
Little blues bar in Houston, I was holding down the bass. I usually play guitar. This dude shows up and offers to take over the bass. 'Well, yes, Mr Dusty Hill, If I can play guitar with you'. I sat in until like 0400 h. Maybe 10 years later I ran across Billy Gibbons in an art gallery. 'You that cat from that place on Westheimer. Dusty says you good.' I must have made an impression, but I gotta tell you I floated back home.
thats one helluva cover of a great tune and a helluva tribute to the great very missed Dusty Hill
Wow--glad this came up-Dickie Betts is THE MAN. Don’t see him here but digging this band. Of course I’ve been listening to the Three Amigos too. Along with the old blues men.
Duane Betts is representing for Dickie in the last guitar solo.
