  • Hus Gallery is a new, contemporary art gallery that showcases emerging artists. Based in central London, it is featuring figurative artist Howard Tangye whose work has appeared in many fashion publications.
Known for his outstanding contribution to the world of fashion as a teacher, designer and illustrator, Howard is starting to gain recognition as an artist. In 2012, London's Victoria and Albert Museum selected 56 of Howard's original works for their permanent Prints and Drawings collection and in June 2013, Howard released "Within", his first book showing 52 of his drawings.
"Casting the Line" is Howard Tangye's first solo exhibition and will be on display at Hus Gallery until 27th February 2014.

I love his work. I can see the comparisons with Schiele but for me Tangye's work is much more "Emerging subjects of the artists". A bit like Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures emerging from the stones. Tangye's models emerge from the canvass with the minimum of lines and paints needed to see the work emerge. Beautiful!

The "gallerist" who defined Mr. Tangye as an artist not a fashion illustrator needs to step back for a reality check.

just imitations of Schiele, nothing more...
