I am from and grew up in the Deep South (Florida, USA). Spanish moss is a very important part of my childhood. Currently I am in Tennessee, USA and am growing it as a houseplsnt. Spanish moss is my favorite of all plants. It is very romantic, it is useful, and it brings back some enchanting childhood memories for me.
Lol Florida is not the deep south. Deep south is a cultural term, not geographical. But I'm from Florida too, lived in savannah for a bit, and I totally agree - spanish moss is such a part of your life. You can't avoid it. I hung some in my shower for a couple months and sprayed it and it stayed beautiful and green. Eventually I got grossed out lol.
@@carolinebarley It was my understanding that there are some places and parts of Florida that are considered deep south, and that’s what I thought she was referring to. At any rate, I think Spanish Moss is gorgeous, and I’m more of a coastal person.

Hi, I live in Florida and it grows on my oak trees and even starts on my clothesline. It was historically used to make furniture cushion stuffing. I like your videos.

, hello sangeetha, l think l am lucky to have started viewing RUclips very recently that l could watch your beautifully explained videos on plants. Am a plant lover and have collections since 31 years. Have a staghorn fern aged 26 years and was much excited to watch your video on that. Best wishes to you and expect more from you. I have subscribed your Green fingers.
I purchased a large shopping bag of this stuff for $15! I have 3 massive bunches that I probably haven’t been watering enough I realise after watching your video. I did however find a few tiny bright green flowers today. I was so excited as I had no idea they can flower. The lady I bought it off has loads and loads of it but is trying to get rid of it as it’s poisonous to horses apparently.
I watched many Spanish Moss videos. Yours is thus far the most clear and informative covering all aspects in detail . Your new subscriber 🙏🏽fm Singapore
I am in New Jersey and have it hanging on a very old antique floor stand lamp indoors over winter. The lamp is metal but there's been no harm i can detect.. rust is acidic and not seen on it. I spray it almost daily with ph7 water from my filter. I brought it home from a FL road trip and it's thriving. It even sprouts its brown blossoms, one each week. Its next to a home humidifier which runs constant from late October to early May. I use it also to surround small pots in open boxes. I wish you spent more time on propagation and fertilization if any.
Hi Sangeetha the presentation is very well done. I want to share an experience with you. In spring I moved the Spanish moss plant into the green house. Had it measured to see if super thrive made a difference to growth. A few weeks later I the plant had got thinner and shorter. It puzzled me. I could watch the green house from the kitchen window. A blackbird appeared . Started. Moving from one branch to another. The whole time watching me. Probably felt safe and made a dash into the green house. After moving around the plants went to three Spanish moss and started picking the fibres. And went into a corner. Had a look when the bird was not around. Found a nest with four eggs. The nest was lined with Spanish moss. Brought the Spanish moss into the house. I have had robins wrens and house sparrows nesting in the green house. This is rage first time a blackbird nested. All four eggs hatched. The young bride flew around inside the green house. Then then the parents did not feed them and one by one the young ones came out. Interesting experience. The house sparrows like coco fibre and I an forever repairing the hanging baskets. Thank you very much for a nice presentation Mano
Some are saying just throw the Spanish Moss in trees and let nature do the rest. Some are saying to water Spanish Moss twice a week. Some say that the Spanish Moss can be soaked in a container of water. Thank you for nice videos!
@@malakingdude Seems to grow really well in the Spanish Oaks around the subtropical bayous of the deep south north America.
