    Here in the Deep South of the US birds love to snatch spanish moss to use as nesting material. It usually survives this and grows where the birds place it. Wind and birds spread it everywhere.

    Usinoidies is the name. I live in perth west Australia, and have hundreds of these lovely plants. Started out eith 5 plants,and when they are full and long, i just break them off half way, and tie them off with a thick elastic band, and hook them onto tree branches, hanging baskets, everywhere. Here they stay in the garden all year round. They have tiny little green, yes green flowers in spring and are tough plants. They go well with my collection of tillasandias. They come from the desert in sounth America and are absolutely pests there! They grow everywhere, and are used to stuff cushions, mattresses and as packaging material. I use liquid hydroponic solution every month to keep them growing well. I hope your plants multiply well for you. Cheers.

      Thank you, sadly the climate is not good enough in the UK to keep them outside all year. But the conservatory is sufficient in the winter months. Thank you for the growing tips.

      @@OurEnglishTropicalGarden makes a medicinal tea. Supposed to me good for arthritis as it reduces inflammation in joints

    There's loads of it everywhere in Louisiana🙂
    I was there many years ago on holiday.
    It looked very spooky in graveyards and other such places.

    Years ago I drove down I-95 to Florida and that plant grows wild everywhere. You could have pulled off the road and picked a trunk full of the stuff for free. It is literally hanging from trees and power lines everywhere you look in the southern states. Meanwhile, none where I live. To far north and far too cold for it here unless I kept it in a greenhouse, which I don't have or inside my house but my cat pretty much kills any plant I bring in. So I stopped buying any. Until she passes away, I have to be plantless inside.

    Old man's beard and spanish moss r different plants. Is it the same process for both? I am little confused on that.

    When its given orchid feed, do you just spray it over the whole plant?

    How do you when this plant has died?
    I've got some but I didn't measure it, so I dont know if it's growing, alive or dead?

    • @OurEnglishTropicalGarden
      @OurEnglishTropicalGarden  Год назад

      Thank you for the question. It is difficult to tell with these, apart from the fact it won't grow anymore if it has died. Many airplants don't change much in colour dead or alive. Sorry that's not very helpful
