Thank you. I love Spanish Moss, it's beautiful and so useful. I use it to scrub things clean because it's biodegradable. I use it in the bottom of my flower pots, too. I'm going to try it in my chickens' nest boxes.
Thank you for your honest and natural approach to gardening and sustainable ecosystems, I am very new to gardening and you had some great information that will help me establish Spanish Moss in my yard, particularly on an orchid, my first, as I try to support and nurture it.
So glad to hear from you. It Really makes me happy to see I could inspire you. All the best. Happy Gardening. I will be happy to hear from you again. Like share and subscribe to support my work.
Wow! This is the first time I've seen someone wrap the tillandsia usneoides around something just like that, with no regard for the direction the strand was growing! Some even say that the tillandsia will die, if you don't pay attention to the direction of growth! If I watch your video correctly : Then a big, thick new strand would grow on that ring? That would be incredible and fantastic! I want to try that!
Yes it’s true. The ones I wrapped on those rings have become really long now. Will try to upload a shorts showing the recent growth soon .. stay tuned … 😊 Thank you
@adorablegreens Yes, sure. My spenish moss is very dry, as the weather here is scorching dry. I'm trying to find some humid place which is really difficult till the Monsoon.
Misting really helps this plant …. I mist them twice a day when it gets too dry and windy… if it’s too dry there … water by dipping the whole bunch in a tub of water and leaving for around 10mins. This will prevent too fast drying.. All the best 😊
Excellent work. I really appreciate. I need some help. I am from Ahmedabad. A friend brought this moss for me a few days ago. I have kept it in semi shade area. Here the temperature goes high upto 46° in peak summer. I spray water daily but the plant is not in a good shape. Of course it is not in that bad condition but I must take more care/prevention. You mentioned to spray water soluble NPK. Could you please tell me - 1. Which npk? I have 19-19-19. 2. What should be the proportion in 1 liter water? 3. How frequently should I spray npk? Thank you.
Thank you for your warm appreciation. Being an airplant, it loves high humidity. So spraying it often with water will be good till the summers pass. Avoid windy locations, as this dries away the plant quickly. Now is the right time to spray with foliar liquid soluble npk (generally found in pink crystal form). 19:19:19 is good. Mix around 4 spoons in a litre of water. Repeat every 15-20 days during the summers for ideal growth. Avoid direct sunlight, instead hang it where you get reflected light or the evening sun. For such high temperatures, I will suggest you spray water thoroughly atleast twice a day. You can also dip the whole plant in a bowl of water for 15 mins everyday for better water absorbtion. Please support by sharing the video if you like my work. Do check out the video on bromeliads for a better understanding of NPK usage. Thank you. Happy Gardening.
@@adorablegreens thank you for the quick response. Your suggestions will be of a great help. And yes, I already shared your video with a couple of friends.
@@adorablegreens well, I don't see any growth. Looks like it is in dormancy as the temperature is above 40°. It would be great if it survives till monsoon.

Npk composition is 19:19:19 and the ideal quantity will be 3-4gms per litre… repeat spraying with this every 15days during summer for a faster and vibrant growth. Happy gardening. Keep me posted. I will be happy to hear😊
Good to hear, you are starting with your first ever Airplant👏🏻. Spanish moss can live in temperatures between 12-28 Celsius. Lower temp slows the growth. Just make sure it is not under direct sunlight. If the climate is too dry, misting occasionally will be helpful. Also check my latest upload on a diy on air plant and bromeliad hanging ruclips.net/video/NIg-__Ejhws/видео.html Good Luck 🤞 Happy Gardening
Place it where it doesn’t get any direct sunlight.. if the temperatures are too high and it gets windy, then you should spray it at least twice a day. The plants tend to loose moisture due to the heat and wind, so keep it under bigger trees where temperatures are generally lower.
Occasionally you can, but good if you can place it somewhere it gets natural light and light breeze… like close to windows. Because it absorbs moisture from the air, flowing air around the plants helps in a good growth.
Those are baskets for hanging plants …. I use them in inverted form for hanging my Spanish moss. Do subscribe and check out my other videos for your next plant inspiration. Thank you
Pls spray with RO water everyday twice … hard water is not good for this plant.. hang them in semi shade area where it’s not too windy as summer winds tend to dry the plant too quickly. Stop npk use till you see new leaves growing on the tips.
In too windy conditions it tends to dry and thin very fast. Relocate it to a spot which is less susceptible to winds and keep them moist by spraying twice a day. All the best Happy Gardening
Wrapping it makes it easier to hang. So it will grow and make way for itself. The more you wrap it the denser it becomes as there will be more growing nodes around.
Please follow these simple things Place in semi shade area (no direct sunlight) Do not let it dry completely ever … spray RO water often if you are located in a hot city …
Thank you.
