Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides) is a beautiful silvery-blue air plant thay hangs gravefully from the branches pf large trees in the wild. People don't realise that this unusual airplant will actually produce highly scented flowers! In this video we share 5 plant care tips to help you grow Spanish moss indoors and outdoors successfully.
1. LIGHT: Give your Spanish moss lots of light to help it grow healthily.
2. AIRFLOW: To kee your Tillandsia airplants happy you need to ensure that they have good airflow. Well aired spanish moss will quickly dry amd prevent rot.
3. WATER:These rootless air plants need watering differently to most plants. By following the air plant care tips in this video you will grow air plants indoors that thrive. Hanging Spanish moss is the best way to grow this air plant happily. A hanging Spanish moss will capture moisture in the air as well as moisture from rainfall. Be sure to give you Spanish moss air plant bright light and good airflow, this will ensure your air plant grows well indoors and outside.
4. HEAT: Tillandsia usneoides is an air plant that grows wild in warm climate such as in Mexico, South America and the Caribbean. In cooler climates we can grow Spanish Moss as a houseplant or hang it outdoors in the warm summer months.

Thanks for all the tips. I was definitely not giving mine enough light. I usually water it by dunking it in a tap water sink treated with stress coat plus to remove the heavy metals. Seems happy albiet a little weak

There's more Spanish moss in alabama and then there is in Florida. Floridas moss has actually almost disappeared.

I live in Florida and can tell you it has not disappeared. I have about eight oaks in my yard and they all have moss! I would gladly give it away.

All my bunches only got bigger and bushier over the years and loved all that morning sun. I finally separated a few samples and located them to my downstairs bathroom window. It was pretty miserable and dark for the entire winter. Now that it is spring the bathroom bunch is blooming! Go figure 😆
