Wow, I almost forgot about this great tune. These guys were pretty much geniuses of song and I appreciate the time you've taken to get the chords right. Thanks.
Another very cool song written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols in 1969 and released in 1970. It just missed being in the top 10, but it doesn't matter. Despite this being a time when electric was making a big splash, there were still remnants of nice and clean acoustic guitar in many songs. "America" comes to mind and there are of course many others. Thanks for posting this!
Wow, thanks for the reply Dale. I'm 65 and you're motivated me to re-learn this wonderful tune. I used to know it back in the day and I've loved it since it first came out on the radio. Thanks Dale!
That song touches my heart to this day ! I when I was 12 I looked after a younger neighbor next door till his mom got off work. He as a 20 year old has since passed of cancer, but we listened to that song over and over on an eight trac player ! Precious time , precious song ! Thank You
I've just discovered all your videos. Man, you are a great teacher. Are you a teacher? if not, you should be. I'm 62 yrs old and this is great. Keep it up! also, all of your video's that I've seen are older songs. I can say that because I am. Bless!
hello...thanks for checking this out and the very kind post. I am a school teacher by day:) hope all is good and enjoy playing this one, your friend, dale.
You are a good patient teacher! I took a course with my husband on 🎸 guitar, but he was more into it. The teacher went too fast and I did not practice often like my husband. But such a great song !
I've been drumming since 1970 to my brothers albums, one was golden biscuit's album, I remember I was 13 and my dad took us skiing and we always played 3 dog night, my dad always loved "Eli's coming" I miss those days, my dad died on December 18, 2000, I've now been drumming 47 Yrs, your guitar playing has touched my heart, thanks dude
I've watched aLOT of guitar instructions on you tube and yours is the first one when I grabbed my guitar and sat down to emulate. Such a clear instructional video!!!! Thanks
Great song which I loved growing up. I think with lots of time practicing, this it is doable!! I think the chords in this song are amazing. Thanks for taking the time to post this and I think your rendition is very close to the original.
Hey my friend, Mr Tonedr... I’ve just posted a cover of this awesome tune. I gave you a shoutout in my write up as I used your tutorial to help me brush up my understanding of the guitar parts. Almost forgot how much I liked this song till I heard it on satellite radio recently. Thanks for your thoroughness and accuracy in this tutorial! Always good to see one done properly in relation to how the recording is actually played. Peace!
hello Dave...i'll be checking it out and so glad you covered it! I agree, the song is just so cool and the guitar part i love - thanks for sharing music and friendship, dale.
Sorry, but I am in a Dale mood tonight. Love, love, love this song. I listened to this song on vinyl. Don't think that it was on cassette when I heard it. Three Dog Night was a great band. I remember laying on my twin bed, listening to this song on the turntable. So good.
Hey Dale! Tx for covering this great acoustic tune by one of my favorite bands. Saw them back in the day when they had the the big three up front! Cory, Chuck and Danny! The vocals where amazing! Tight! 3 great singers. You are spot on again with this tune which is sorely underated! Most people I hear playing this miss the rhythm! When I go to play songs I haven't played in over a decade I go to a Dale tutorial for that song. I know its right! I appreciate you brother! Hope all is well and Blessings to you and yours!
+Bob W hey Bob! get to hear from you and please know i appreciate the very kind post. I'm glad you got to see 3DN in the day because i agree with you they were really a special band with such great and diverse tunes. I've never seen them live but will always be a fan - hope you are very well, your friend, dale.
Thank You So Much Tonedr. I've Loved This Song Forever. Your Tutorial Was The Best. Thanks. Very Easy To Follow, I Picked It Up Right Away With Your Easy To Understand Chord Progression Explanations. Thanks Brother. Peace. 🌿🕊🎶🎸😎
Oh my gosh I just realized that this video is 14 years old! I still want to know about your guitar. At the end of the video when you went wide, I still couldn't make it out from the headstock. Thank you for the lesson. Love this song!
One of my favorite songs from my childhood. You said you had it on cassette...I had it on 8-track, lol. Thanks for this tutorial. I've been looking for the chords to this song for a long time. Can't thank you enough!
+tonedr still one of my favorite lessons you teach. You are very good teacher. Have you seen shutup&playyourguitar channel? In my opinion you two are the best teachers on RUclips. You guys are my go to teachers.
Cool. Love it. Great sound. I will definitely play this one! Of course we all should know that as prolific Three dog night was , nearly all there hits (if not all) were written by other artist. For example this one was written by Paul Williams, the male version of Carole King for his era.
Yeah that's it you got it! Wer'e going to record the song so this saves me so much time. BTW very helpful when slowing down the tempo for the strum...Thanks for making this tutorial
Good job as always! You and I definitely have very similar taste in classic rock! Your acoustic is very close on his tone on this one. My guitar teacher showed me this one back when I was learning but he lacked your accuracy! Good post!
Have you seen Larry L's cover of this? And is he using the same chords as you in the chorus? Thanks for the tutorial. Admire guitar players, but I was never that technical, so learning guitar was so hard for me.
