I've been a proud owner of a CPS Changer since 2010 when the system was a little more obtainable financially than it is today. Unfortunately I only own Street Fighter II Turbo and have never been able to find or afford another game. To call them rare is an understatement they are almost non-existent. I once about 6 years ago found a Street Fighter Zero but by the time I called the store in Japan the game had sold.

@@eastendthug A few years ago just the console sold on eBay for 5k. The games are so rare it's anyone's guess. Even if somehow you were to get the console you still couldn't find the games. Their that rare. They make the Car Marty look common.

Capcom messed up with this *CP-System Changer* by porting Street Fighter Zero on there.
They were supposed to only put in the 32 CPS1 games (like Strider Hiryū) & CPS Dash games (like Cadillacs & Dinosaurs).
And later make a console successor called the *SUPER CP-System Changer* where it contains all 48 CPS2 games (like Alien vs. Predator) & CPS3 games (like Street Fighter III).

Capcom is one of my favorite developers of games, didn't know they had this console. I would've gotten it in a second, had I known back in the day. Imagine playing Final Fight 3 or Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter on this?

Yeah, I’ll buy another one tomorrow. These are sooo rare now. And so expensive.
It’s essentially a cps with an output and a pad/controller.

This was a great video and much better than the click bait stuff like "Can you believe this Street Fighter is complete gutter trash?!?" I respect this much more and clicked on it immediately.

I almost got a JAMMA set for my PAL CRT tv for an alien vs predator capcom arcade cp2 cartridge in 2004 which used mega drive controllers and open circuit board and loom. But my PC glitched and I lost out on a £60 ebay auction. Other jamma sets were £300 plus. So I sold my cp2 game at a loss. This was before emulation for capcom games of course.

I hope the person who created this console never worked in video games again. I am shocked to see it actually passed the higher ups. The whole point of the cps arcade machines were to reduce cost, reduce the number of chips they need manufactured. Then someone says they should do a home console that does just the opposite in spite of what everyone else is doing.
I was really expecting to click into this to find capcom tried making a home console version of the X68000 computer. Similar to the AES CD console by snk, hardware rom chips would be replaced with software and the games would need to be re-engineered to load piecemeal into RAM.

I remember my older brother buying the Power Stick Fighter at an Electronic's Boutique along with SSFII for the SNES back in '94. The SNES port was really good, but I don't recall the stick being any good.

I do also recall some other things about these devices as well. I think that CPS-1 and CPS-2 arcade games from Capcom also had variants of these machines as a part of the overall architecture of those arcade games and that the controller ports that were for the controllers for the CPS Changer units were also in these machines, as well as the stand alone CPS Changer machines, and that said controller ports were also perfectly compatible with SNES/NSFC controllers as well, as they were identical in shape to the SNES/NSFC controller ports.

I have two CPS Changers, only one game though. People say that for one reason or another the system failed, due to competition or cost. From my understanding though it was a test to see if Capcom could shift a back log of CPS1 boards they had in storage, clearly it didn't work. Capcom wasn't trying to compete in the console market at all, if so they would have released more than just 600 units.

If they did have a console would you just like to play only capcom games or want to play every game from every publisher capcom does have a lot of great games but I wouldn’t want a capcom console to play only capcom games not worth buying that’s why I hate SNK consoles Neogeo only SNK games when you look at Sega PlayStation Nintendo Xbox Steam they get every publisher that’s what makes them worth to own

Wholly Crap! Imagine spending almost $400 on ONE Video Game. No "Live Service", no online, no extra content or dlc, nothing but one really good fighting game. It's nuts, it'd be even more if you account for inflation the damn thing would cost like $800 now which means the console itself would have been way more expensive than PS5 or XBox Series X.🤦‍♂️

I never understood the mentality of these people in the companies such as Nintendo, Capcom, Konami etc.
They be like hey this thing is failing on a market lets make even worse outdated trash and upcharge it 10 times and the games especially ...
Or when PS1 came around they continued to be even worse idi-ts ...
Nintendo alone is lucky to be still around considering they were always generations behind, outdated, most games are awfully produced, both consoles and games overpriced and the list goes on, it barely sold around the world, basically mostly sells in some selected neesh markets in the west and nowhere else, yet it's still around making c-ap, so yeah quite a miracle.
Tons of others failed back in 90s, SEGA shut down since it realized they can't compete anymore against Sony who was holding the majority of electronics market. So they pulled out. Nintendo was the worst of them all yet it lives ...
