Seeing “loves bugs” as a “feminine trait” took me out because as an afab person I was told I was ‘weird’ and ‘tomboyish’ for loving bugs as a young child.
Same here, lol. Spiders are my favorite animal 😍
My eyebrows are spider web tattoos 🥰
Same, I don't love them across the board but I like spiders, butterflies, and some other bugs, and I'm generally not afraid of bugs, which was all considered masculine except for the butterflies.
I'm a man and I currently have/like/do at least 5 of the things on that "feminine bingo" card, and several more throughout my life. Who doesn't like (any) animals, listen to music or read? Seriously? Also, I find the night comforting and quiet, especially as an introverted person, and I own knitwear because it's warm.
This stuff is ridiculous, and I'm saying that as a sterotypically masculine guy who doesn't moisturise. I'm not refusing to moisturise because "women do it", but I just can't be bothered. I've tried those products before (was given some by a girl).
@@Onnarashi I don't moisturize either for the same reason and I'm a woman lol. I used to consider myself not feminine because I could not get on board with the classy femininity my mom and sisters were into. Wasn't until later that I realized my femininity is more of the flower child variety.
@@dragongirl7978 I feel you. I fit a bunch of masculine stereotypes but I'm not thrilled by some of them. I've wondered if I was "masculine enough" because I didn't fit EXACTLY into some neat "man box". It's dumb, and way too narrow anyway.

Little known fact: in industrial kitchens, the stove fires can only be lit using a pen1s, and baking ovens can only be turned on by telekinesis from ovaries
😂😂😂😂
Fascinating. Is there anything powered like those? 🤔
That explains why the ovens I worked with at dunkin would just turn on when I walked by! Blasted ovaries and they're oven powers
I cackled WAY too hard at this HAHAH
Ovokinesis.
"baking is light and sweet" just watch me take my anger out on some bread dough
Valid
And with like crème brûlée cooking the top layer with open flame is probably more dangerous than using a stove
For real, I've seen a male baker who was a big, hulking guy. I was thinking about how tough dough can be to work, especially in large amounts. You can get some workout pounding that dough with your fists, as well as whisking different ingredients by hand.
Bakers also got to lift that dough and put them in those ovens, and that can be heavy. They have some huge trays and can but several breads worth of dough on them for baking.

@@Onnarashi Every baker I've met (myself included) has beefy forearms. Not necessarily generally fit, i've got more rolls than the dough, but I got hella arm strength.
Things that should be gendered:
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
👏👏👏 applause! Especially the points about - , , and really made sense.
Exactly
"Things that should be gendered"
People: Male and Female, as has been understood by all rational people for tens of thousands of years.
counter point, genital related doctors, probably the ONLY thing in existance that should be gendered... also pharmaceutical and medical studies
gender stereotypes really fucked me up as a kid only know that i'm more comfortable with myself am i allowing myself to safely explore my feminine side without the expectations of being forced into it
Right!!! I was never fully a tomboy but I also was nowhere near "girly"... My energy was "boyish" so I felt more comfortable with my male classmates in elementary school... Although I wished I had more female friends especially when I started to develop... As I got older I made female friends... I never got the lesbian rumors but that's probably because I always had a crush I was talking about... Either a secret crush or a celebrity... I was not like other girls (in my small town) but I didn't think that made me better... I actually hated it cuz I felt wrong... Now I love it tho... But that's after finally seeing people like me... Like actually comfortable in gender limbo... I'm a non-binary bisexual... Or "chaotically queer" cuz the other way sounds boring... Hehehe
Gender is the stupidest thing humans created to categorize us...
@@Elle_Like_The_Letter Serious question, as a guy. Do you think gender in general is bad, even if people are happy with it? I'm mostly happy with being a man, although I wish the "man box" wasn't so narrowly defined and policed.
Even though I'm generally fine with my gender identity, I do see the point of relaxing these strict gender norms placed on people. All this performative gender nonsense doesn't need to be imposed on people, but I also think it's valid if you feel like a man or a woman and you're happy with that.
@@Onnarashi gender is a social construct... Which means it changes as society evolves... The 80s there was major gender bending. Men would wear dresses just to piss people off!!!!! Men still do that. Nothing is changing about who we are just the labels... And if labels help people feel less alone then yes go go go... But so many labels are used to separate us to make us feel less than to be used as less than... I have a love hate relationship with labels... But for medical reasons we totally need a category for male and female. But gender itself was so unnecessary in my opinion...
We are comfortable with what is presented to us as comfortable... My mother would walk around naked when we where younger... so I felt comfortable with nudity... until my mom thought I was perving on her cuz I accidentally walked in on her in the bathroom... I was born female fyi... So nudity became "sinful" and made me feel so uncomfortable... We start separating boys and girls as a society in elementary school... Bathrooms should hide everyone's bodies not separate bodies... Cuz this really where the gender differences get ingrained in us... Look at healthy nudest communities... I doubt people are walking around with hard ons... Cuz they don't sexualize bodies every time they see one... It's weird how many poorer countries women walk around topless and they aren't "whores"... But weirdly the societies that forces a dress code are the ones constantly sexualizing bodies... That's the main reason we separate boys from girls... Is how much we sexualize the female body... "Boys can't control themselves so girls have to cover up and be separate from the boys"...
Hope this made sense... Dyslexic ADHDer...
@@Elle_Like_The_Letter I agree as a kid who didn't really get along with other kids i basically just tried to be "ultimately masculine" (basically rejecting anything feminine) but then i realised i wasn't too masculine either, nowadays im a mix because i'm allowed to be myself
Gendered ideas about bodies are also so stupid. I was 6 or 7 and wanted to play a music instrument. I ended up on the piano (but it became keyboard later because I could not reach the pedals on a piano because I was to short) and the reason I was considered well off for an instrument like that? "You have girly hands".
Because apparently, pre-puberty there's a distinct difference between girl and boy hands...

I'm a woman who buys Dr. Squatch mens soap for myself because they got some pretty cool scents, have collabs with things like Star Wars and Jurassic Park, is all natural, and is actually the first soap that hasn't make my skin itch like fire in the shower. They also offer aluminum free antiperspirant deodorant that have the same scents, and honestly, I like smelling like "Wood Barrel Bourbon"
I found out how good this brand was after finding Yoda themed soap for a good price, thought to myself "Aw, man, I'm a girl, so I can't buy man soap." and then I was like "... WHY THE HELL CAN'T I BUY THIS, IT'S JUST SOAP??"

I gravitate towards "mens" soap because it most likely isn't overly fragranced.
Fun fact: in the comics the original reason Thanos wanted to wipe out half of all life in the universe was to impress Death because he was in love with her. This was all before Deadpool was even created. So she's kinda always been drawn like that.
Deadpool might not chug his Respect Women Juice, but he definitely sips it.
Marvel's Death has boobs because that's the form she chose. It gets her what she wants most effectively.
Sorry if so already mentioned it, but: reason why there are "girls" and "boys" and not "like unicorns" and "like wizards" things are money. For example, you have girl and boy kid. They will be probably ok to play together with either wizards or unicorns. So you put gender sticker on it, say the boys cannot like unicorns and girls cannot like wizards and now you can sell two things

I was shopping for a children's hospital for a relative once and she had such outdated views on gender like this superhero comic book is for boys, cat coloring book is for girls, dog one i for boys, etc. I swear I am not lying, ended up not even going through with it despite me needing help because i had no clue how to do it. I'm currently trying to learn German. Did you know that pizza is feminine?
Yes, because I am german. 😁
Pizza is feminine in French too!
Its feminine in spanish too
in russian it's feminine too
In German, neckties are feminine (Krawatte), dresses are masculine (Rock), and girls are neuter (Mädchen).
11:57 Weird...My lil kitty cat boi was drinking at his water fountain...so of course as soon as I learned that, I quickly turned to him and screamed 'BABY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!? I tried again with a classic emotional manipulation: 'Don't you want to be masculine!? Alpha!??!? GET SOME PUSSEY!!?!?!??!😭' but still didn't work! Think he's actually gay? 🤔🤨
Also, as to 'why' or 'how' French came to be a gendered language...that's a bit of a long history, but just know that we're doing our best! Now making older words 'invariables' and creating new ones! Don't be too harsh, French can be great I swear 🥲
Do these people ever stop to wonder why someone is gossiping about a problem at work? Do they ever stop to think that maybe women aren't listened to when they try to solve a problem in the workplace so it might be easier to try to talk to people and see if you can get them on your side??

When it comes to ranting vs problem solving, I’m a woman who has a huge issue of always wanting to look for solutions when my loved ones come to me with complaints.
To adjust this behavior, I’ve taken to gently asking “do you want advice, or do you just need me to listen?” that way I know what my role is in the conversation so I don’t overstep and offer the correct kind of support.
(Although I always do want to offer solutions even when it’s not wanted, but it’s up to me to bite my tongue and just be a sympathetic listener instead lol)
I also love asking what response people need! Another thing I have found helpful in certain cases is, if asked for help, asking what kind of help they are looking for. This is much more tailored to the specific situation but possibilities often include things like advice, talking to someone for them/acting as a go between, attempting a fix myself, etc.
Fun fact, Languages started to sort nouns into categories before they decided those categories should be named after genders. Some Indo-European languages have "animate" and "inanimate" nouns and some languages from different groups have yet completely different noun classes.
(As a native speaker of Czech, a gendered Slavic language, I feel weirdly protective over grammatical genders, I can't help it.)
Omg, random, but you could actually help me with something?? I'm currently trying to learn Czech via Duolingo, but it can only go so far, bc no rules are ever explained, and it drives me nuts! @@esmeraldaloschuetz9120 Oh, I do German on Duolingo! But yes, it's not very helpful. I'm sure glad to have studied German in school, too 🤣
I can try to help. I definitely think it should be "děti nepijí víno," that looks like mistake on Duolingo's side.
The thing with dogs, that depends on grammatical case. It's "ti psi" in nominative and "ty psy" in accusative. It's like the difference between they and them.
I guess that to like aka "mít rád" can be hard, because grammatical genders come into play there. "Rád" behaves like an adjective. It doesn't match the conjugation of "mít". Instead, its desinence changes based on the gender of a person (or a thing) that is a grammatical subject of the sentence in question. That is, the person about whose preferences the sentence talks. It goes: for singular, the masculine is "rád", feminine is "ráda" and neutral is "rádo". For plural, masculine is "rádi," feminine is "rády" and neutral is "ráda."
Matching correct predicate to a subject is hard, it's actually the kind of thing in which native speakers make mistakes regularly. Honestly, I think you rock for taking on such a challenge as learning Czech 😅 it's so complicated that we also struggle with it 🤣 it's weird.
@@chanterelle483 OMG OMG you answered!! THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH!! Seriously, I can't thank you enough, how kind of you to take the time and resopond and explain everything so clearly! This actually helps a LOT and cleares things up! I can't thank you enough!! I have one folloow-up question, though: When do you use the male plural and when the female plural for several people? Because in French, the rule is: Once there is a SINGLE male in the group, the personal pronoun becomes all-male plural. A female group has to be female only to be referred to as "they" on female plural. It it the same in Czech? Is that the ominous difference between "ony" and "oni"? (Never quite figured that out, either.)
Sorry to bother you, thank you so much!
I can't take all the credit for making progress in Czech, I am a native Russian speaker (or used to be as a kid, now it's very rusty), so some of the grammar is similar and some of the words are easier to remember. 6:28 Even more hilarious is when they ‘discover’ Skincare.
Let those men who diss on skincare and hygiene laugh. They don’t seem to realize that men need to take care of their skin too. It only seems women do it more because our thin skin makes us more prone to wrinkles. There are other reasons, of course, but that was the first that came to mind.
And I still get a laugh when I hear the whole “men are logical and women are emotional” bullsh*t argument. I’ll admit that I don’t necessarily talk about my problems and expect advice or assistance. Sometimes just talking it out helps put things into perspective and also get out any emotions that are clouding any sort of judgement. There is a time and a place for logic and emotions and one often does tend to get in the way of the other, but we need both to properly function. One shouldn’t be superior to the other.
Also, adding onto that, men AND women can be logical AND emotional. I know, it’s shocking, but it’s true.
its because they think that anger isnt an emotion.
They think emotional means sensitive, they don't know it means making decisions based on your emotions

I love your content but i think the joke with the skin care/shampoo one is the joke that men have perfect skin without trying while women have to work towards decent skin.
I genuinely find baking easier than cooking. Not because you don't have to be precise/exacting, but actually because you really have to be precise/exacting.
I have great success in baking because I find the idea of deviating from a recipe utterly abhorrent. Any variation has a significant chance of cascading horribly, so I get very, VERY precise. And, as a result, I'll know whether or not any problem with the product is an issue of the recipe or my own failing at whatever step.
On the other hand, I loathe cooking because the instructions are often deliberately vague (season to taste, bake for x-y minutes or until the center begins to bubble, boil pasta until it's soft but not TOO soft, etc...) because relatively small variations in air pressure, humidity, room temperature, etc... genuinely cause notable variations in the results of any given stage and the perceived flavor of the final product. It feels significantly more stressful to me to be cooking a meal for others as I constantly have to second and triple guess whether or not I've actually reached each checkpoint to proceed or if I've done too little/too much.
My mother, on the other hand, loves to experiment in the kitchen. She is very good at and enjoys cooking. She knows all sorts of little tricks to correct minor mistakes or speed certain processes up and has long since developed her memory for all the little minor signs that vague end points for common recipe steps have been met and the general flavor pallet the people she is cooking for will enjoy.
However, my mother struggles significantly with baking. Her tendency to experiment or substitute backfires on her leading to things not setting right, being undercooked, burned, etc...
And it's not just her. My younger brother has her same issues with baking, but is quite good at and enjoys cooking. I think it's less that one is actually harder or easier than the other than it is that they favor different mindsets. Baking is rules heavy: do it exactly or there will be problems so only experiment if you are prepared to lose the entire dish. Cooking is rules light: if you do it exactly, there will probably be problems so figure out ways to fill the gaps and save the dish.
Baking and cooking are not gendered, but I could see a metaphor in that baking requires hard work and rigid adherence to instructions but gets an unearned reputation of being easy, while cooking is expected to involve a lot less carefulness but some people still have very strong opinions on the results.
The water bottle thing was...

Fun fact about Marvel's Death, another character who fancies Death is Thanos. That was literally the only motive for wanting to wipe out half of the universe's life. he wanted to bone some bones. and I doubt Death being a guy would slide back in 1992 that well, given Thanos' motives.
also Death's fascination with Deadpool is based on him not being able to die, and Thanos is super jealous.

22:07 in the Marvel universe, Death is canonically female.
Where is that jacket from?! It’s amazing! 😍 My style is different from yours but that would fit in my closet perfectly, lol.
I'd bet the "party queen" crown is also probably more expensive too
Me, listening to an endless list of Heavy Metal and horror-core (while reading a book by candlelight with my brushed hair and painted nails, surrounded by my cat and a pile of plushies): "Wow, I never realized how girly Coal Chamber is! Guess I'll throw out my studio quality headphones so I can maintain my masculine energy!" /s
Some shampoos contain ingredients for skin care (since there is skin under your hair), so there could be a reason to use it on your face in some instances.
6:54 Your kitty cow's trying to escape!
regarding the first one; throwback to when i was a little kid and thought men couldn't do ballet (or ice skating). like it was against the natural order of things. my mind was blown when my mum told me that was, in fact, not true
I always thought using water fountains is only for children, not grown ups, like at schools the water fountains were always so close to the ground
The Ice hockey toilet has more space, and a hanger for all the protection equipment. Easy reason why you would sepereate by sport. The goaly toilet doubles as a handycap accessible stall.
23:23 the funny thing is that im nonbinary and fit both of these. Sometimes i sleep "neat" and sometimes "messy." I think about manual labor because i just like creating stuff, but i also think about shoes id like to have. I think about maybe starting a family when im older but i also think about women. I love burgers but i also love chocolate. Thanks for affirming my gender, pragerU!
For the first one, I would (as a trans woman who doesn't pass yet) DEFINITELY go to the figure skating bathroom and when people complain, just say "Oh, my bad. I thought the bathroom ls were seperated by sport! I do figure skating and assumed I was supposed to go this way."
It's also a perfectly autistic response and honestly, I feel like it would actually be a plausible assumption
For more commentary on male figure skating, I'd recommend the cutting documentary Blades of Glory. (in seriousness that movie has aged way better than you'd expect because while there are some jokes about two men doing something that's normally done in a male-female pairing, everyone that judges them for it is portrayed as a moron and they quickly get over how "gay" it looks because they are doing it for the love of the sport, and if that means slamming their genitals together in a hilarious special move then so be it)
Also stir-fry is the ballet of cooking because the ingredients soar through the air majestically as you toss them around the pan.
oh gOD the last one! People who do this: maybe your "solutions" aren't that useful and I've already considered what you're saying to me. Maybe I want a discussion and not a lecture. Maybeeeee.
Okay but to be fair on the fruit one… sometimes I don’t want a solution, sometimes I just want to complain 😂
Cooking is: "Aww, man, I forgot the parsley. Anyway, this random spice I found at the back of the cupboard should be good enough to replace it."
Baking is: "OH MY GOD I FORGOT TO CHECK THE HUMIDITY OUTSIDE BEFORE I PREHEATED THE OVEN AT 450.324 DEGREES NOW EVERYTHING'S RUINED"
Jinrets and leebit just hanging in the background makes me so happy
Anybody who says baking is light and sweet have never baked lol.
Baking is science with violence directed at flour.
Also, you can freestyle in baking IF you understand what everything is doing in a recipe. A good book for understanding this is "ratio" by micheal ruhlman.
As for that Deadpool thing, I once did a similar thing for kicks. While designing one of my games, I thought that giving a skeletal enemy some boob bones would be the funniest thing ever and I still crack myself up when I think about it, sometimes, specifically because it made no sense. But was it supposed to be a silly punchline in that comic and not just them trying to make Death sexy and more appealing to some parts of the audience/themselves for whatever reason? I dunno, hard to tell
Oh god oh heck, I always immediately jump to problem solving when someone is venting, I just wanna help I'm autistic I didn't know it made people feel bad :(
fellas, is it gay to listen to music?
Dude I am so gay for music….and sunsets, yeah I’m also gay for sunsets….alsoooo… I’m kinda gay for dudes, but just a little bit.
Yes, how else do you listen to girl in red?
17:30 The fact that I checked 17 (center one not included)/25 and still hit not a single bingo 😭
4:21 As someone who spent 10 years in the food service industry cooking is hands down easier than baking. Baking is so much more stressful.
ig if I want to present more masc I just need to stop brushing my hair and listening to music
I gotta wonder at the ice rink signs what the speed skating bathroom would be? 🤔 it's a much smaller group but nonetheless the 3rd (and to me at least, coolest) ice skating sport
Women's hockey is in a great place in the US now. the NHL now has a professional women's league. its bare bones now, but hopefully it develops over the coming years.
Also Women's Olympic hockey is just straight up better than the men's
25:10 I disagree with this being bad. This one is actually positive and apple does everything right what you critcize men often do wrong. A lot of men (not all ofc) struggle with listening to someone elses, especially partners, problems without immediately jumping into fixit mode. But if you think critically about this, is it likely that he can actually FIX her office politics? In such situations the partner often just need to vent and have their feelings validated. So for the person, who tends to directly jump to fixing stuff, to ask if this is a fixing or venting situation, is absolute top notch relationship behaviour.
That is EXACTLY what we see here. Mr. Apple i not assuming that Ms. Banana has the same needs as himself. Instead he asks for her needs and is willing to fulfil them to her satisfaction. This post has nothing negative, if you are seeing something negative her, it is your own bias.
'Baking is light & sweet'... you ever seen Love Quinn bake? 😂
On advice from my doctors, I have started using baby wash as a face wash and eyelid scrub. It’s been effective and it’s gentle on my super-sensitive skin.
I imagine the reason some men take pride in having detailed hygiene routines is because a lot of men (especially boys) love to be seen as “rough and tumble” and take pride in stuff like being sweaty after a workout or having messy hair cause it works towards the being a street kid, A hero, soldier etc etc aesthetic a lot of boys want. The reason they have the weird flavored “men” hygiene products is because they’re marketed to keep that aura of being those aforementioned things.
why are a banana and an apple growing from the same tree?
A wizard did it.
2:18 I used to play hockey and also used to figure skate. Which bathroom would I use D:
With the whole skin care thing, my brother is a bodybuilder, he has a tiktok where all he does is flex, and when I was still female identifying he was the one who taught me about skin care.
22:46 To be fair, the reason she's a girl might be to make Thanos straight, not to make Deadpool straight. In the comics, Thanos' motive for the snap is LITERALLY so *Death would find him hot for killing half the universe* and he's canonically jealous of Deadpool
They should have given Death eyelash bones 😂
I can't speak to how difficult cooking is, but as someone who is a baker it can be pretty physically demanding, especially when making large quantities of things.
