The protagonist of chronos is actually referred as the “destroyer” in remnant 2 especially in yaesha where he was remembered for destroying their “many faced” guardian
I thought the destroyer was us from the first game as we have the option to kill the ravager who was the guardian right? If I understood that correctly just like it was the guardian of corsus
1) It was clawbone who provided the instructions to use the world stone. 2) The protagonists task in Remnant from the ashes is to look for the previous hero who did not return. The dreamer we fight in the end is the hero from chronos bta.
I'm really glad i found your channel, I picked up r2 without playing any of the previous games, and I found myself extremely interested in the lore, looks like I'm going to be watching half of your catalogue lol
I love when people say that remnant doesn't have a story. theres plenty of story there. its just told in bits and pieces you have to find through multiple playthroughs. Any souls gamer knows about having to search for the real backstory.
There is a lot of story. If you watch and listen to all the lore in remnant you learn a lot about the world and what happened. There are still a lot of holes though.
@@rekrn12345 holes that description and personal Interpretation is meant to fill. Which is simular to how fromsoft tells stories. Which is the main influence of how gunfire games tells its stories.
Thank you so much. I don't know ANYTHING about the first game, but went ahead and bought Remnant 2 just the other day because the gameplay looked so interesting. Thank you for this concise video. You hit all the major points and allowed a newbie like me to hit the ground running.
Amazing, im so glad to hear it. I hope you enjoy the second game and if you need, jump in the discord. We may even start doing group runs to help people out on tough stuff and to collect that sweet loot
Haven't played much remnant 1 or 2 but I love the story and world building I've experienced so far. I love feeling of being a small piece in a massive moving world where you never know if you can trust the person your meeting for the first time.
Chronos or the PC port Chronos: before the ashes is a prequal to Remnant from the ashes not a sequal. Chronos iin short is the story of how the root managed to invade earth and Remnant from the ash is the aftermath of this event.
Crazy how forgettable all this was for me after beating the game once at release. Thank you for bringing it back to me and for giving me the appetite for Remnant 2
Chronos osnt a sequal game, it was the prequal that was made way before Remnant for VR then they added the Before the Ashes title just to make the link obvious when they brought it to 2d
Maybe this is spoilers for Remnant 2 but what I really want to be explained after the ending is why are their two different versions of earth. Are we not just jumping between worlds but actual different universes? Are they going full on multiverse ? I guess that would make sense and explain why every game is a little different. Still they never really touch on how earth is the source of the root. If that is true at the end then how did earth first get infected ?
I think of it like stargate mixed with the matrix. But some parts I am still a little unclear on but in chronos you go inside the dreamers worlds and kill their guardians which were holding the root back somehow. I didn’t really like the ending on 2 it’s going to be interesting how they bring dlc for that but basically it’s a reboot of the matrix type thing but are there still gates?
It's simple to explain actually. The whole thing is a simulation, there's no real universe, and all of them are connected. Think of the internet and each world is a server. Due all being a computer simulation, anything can be accessed, created, deleted, backuped, etc, all with enough access (The keeper and Clementine fills this role) And also, viruses can exist, which will destroy, hack, etc. That's the root's role. The Root Earth is the original one. The root was created as a sort of weapon which went out of control. The Keeper created a bqckup of that Earth before the root. That's the Earth we are from in Chronos/Ashes/2. And attempted to lock away the original one. Due the eventa that happened on Chronos, the Root found it's way to another Earth.
You got the ordering wrong. Chronos BEFORE the ashes is a prequel. Not even really because it is a remaster/port of Chronos VR which released before Remnant.
In chronos you kill the guardians for Yaesha, Krell and The Labyrinth but the root were already on earth by that point. That's why you're sent out in chronos from the same village as the character in remnant. The character in chronos gets kidnapped by Dr Haarsgard and Clawbone cause he's a better vessel for the connection but the root invasion had already happened at that point.
Also, yes you're right Chronos takes place first, what I mean in the video is that a lot of the lore in the world regarding the research and stones happens before chronos but I can see where that might be misunderstood
Tbh, I liked the first game taking place on Earth, the atmosphere and the lore behind the fall. Remnant 2 is great, but disappointed they didn’t bring back Earth, other than the linear path towards the ending, for wide exploration like seeing Leto’s lab and such
When playing, I couldn't help but feel like somehow the Root was just like the roots of the world tree, Yggdrasil, gone awry. Considering how we constantly jump between worlds, and how the roots connect it all.
Yea, it is and much of the story happens before chronos as well. By chronos, the root has already invaded earth. The protagonist of chronos brings it to krell and Yaesha by killing their guardians.
glad i got a nice lore summery of the remnant series tho on our protagonist in remnant 2, the guardian/warder, i wonder how do you get supernatural abilities and enhanced physical abilities, is it by some freak accident or by in contact with the world stone your given some enhanced power similar to destiny guardians
I think its generally accepted that traveling through the stones is what gives you the powers. Clementine, Bo, Us and Ford have all done so at least once so it stands to reason that's what it is.
@@Loup_DM good point and thats pretty interesting to know, the next thing that gets me wondering if we should call our protagonist or others who got enhanced by these stones should be called either guardians or wardens or travelers considering anyone can get some enhancement from the imbuement from these stones

You defeat the guardians holding back the root in Chronos which is why the root is so out of control in Remnant

The first one is Chronos, take place month after remnant from the ashes
I thought Chronos was a prequel and the main character was deceived into killing the guardians on earth...
It is a prequal tho the guardians arnt earths. Its the guardians closest to the root (aka keeping it in check) if i remember right.
