I just wanna point out the fact that everybody is wearing kinda military stuff where Shepard is dressed like he just returned from Citadel shopping :D
Netrunner I guess when facing galactic extinction, wearing a uniform is an afterthought.
I know it’s annoying I always put on the officer uniform in this cutscene so at least I match Hackett.
@@Arklay_98 I do exactly the same it doesn't feel right otherwise
@@Arklay_98 Eh, I usually put on the marine uniform. I like the difference that it delineates between Hackett, an Naval Commander, and Shepherd, who's part of the ground element.
lmao
The speech is so perfect because it is exactly like Hackett. Simple, practical and strong. And instead of being a "give 'em hell" kinda speech it is more of a "we fight for this, now chose what you are willing to do" speech. Superb
why is that in quotes
@@DanBonRP For emphasis. By putting quotation points around the term I single out the term itself. In this case I used it in a sort of descriptive way as I had no single word for what I wanted to say so I described it instead and put it in quotes to unify the description into a sort of term of it's own.
Would you have prefered parentesis'?
I feel that Admiral Hackett is the only person who could’ve done this speech. I understand all the people saying Shepard should’ve done it, but the speech wouldn’t have been the same. Shepard would’ve done the “give ‘em hell” type of speech.
The fact that Hackett ‘requested’ to come aboard Shepard’s vessel just shows how much respect he gives Shepard. As an admiral he can just demand to come aboard as he’s the superior officer. But he doesn’t, he requests permission. Damn.
Well, shepard is not only a commander or captain of the alliance, he's also a specter from the citadel council, which is the ultimate authority of the galaxy
Actually higher ranked person requesting to come aboard to the captain of the vessel is a pretty old norm for most navies since the old times.
Granted if an admiral really wants to come aboard captain cant really say no, so its just a formality. But its put there to recognise captain's ultimate authority to the ship he/she is in command.
But no complains on the respect part.
Rank doesnt matter onboard a ship. The captain of the ship holds the highest position regardless of rank, he/she has the ultimate authority.
Commander throw him out the air lock!
hes not just a representative of humanity......hes a representative of all those who stand against the reapers. Therefore he is fleet,an armed force commander of all races.hes there shepard.
When Hackett first showed up on my ship in this scene, I could feel the presence of a strong, courageous and practical leader. Born to a single mother in Buenos Aires and later enlisting in the Alliance Navy, volunteering for high-risk missions to colonize space and fighting in the First Contact War. His rare ascent from enlisted man to admiral remains an Alliance legend.

My first play through I felt like I was about to be betrayed for some reason.
@@tukavaraandco7820 haha clever MW2 reference
Stand strong, stand together. Words to live by.
Cullen Dittmar Damn straight
America needs to live by those words
I always imagine Captain Kirrahe giving his absolute best _hold the line_ speech at this very moment.
It s cut content. There is a mod that restores it and you can hear it on earth. Mod is called “take earth back “
Plot twist: Captain Kirrahe was Hackett's speechwriter.
@@iwillnoteatzebugs you sure it's not priority earth overhaul? I'm weighing which one to pick because they're not compatible with each other
@@one-wingedangel5107 nvm it s not cut content it s just that kirrahe comes only if you help salarians and sabotage genopaghe
"Commander."
"Admiral."
"Shepard."
"Wrex."
"Grunt"
The way Shepards turns his head away when shaking Hackett's hand. It's like he's afraid to look him in the eye.
Shepard might need examination before battle. Tissue will be needed.
If you're not wearing your Alliance dress uniform for this scene...
Just the fact. That Shepard is facing an Admiral. AND HE IS WEARING. A FUCKING. HOODIE. Makes me chuckle
PappaMC Yeah that was one outfit I rarely wore. Except when my character was on shore leave to go to the bars. I mainly wore the officers outfit a lot.
Lance Henriksen. A one in a million voice. It fits perfectly.
People complaining that speech isn't epic enough. Hackett isn't an orator. He doesn't have time for speeches. He needs to draft battle plans.
@ShadowSamuel Yes we need Hacket to get through covid. He would know just what to say to motivate us through to the end.
@@spartanq7781 #HackettForUSPresident
This might be why Shepard Anderson and Hackett seemed to never argue and get along they ar all people of action not speeches they don't talk about it they just do it
Hackett was Shepard before Shepard.
1:08 - 1:57 That was just LEGENDARY!!!
Imagine the speech Hackett would give us with surviving the coronavirus
It would inspired tons of people to keep going
First minute of this is probably one of the best computer game soundtracks ever.
The war is over. The Reapers have been defeated. Against all odds, and in the face of the greatest threat this galaxy has ever known, we survived. We suffered many losses. The relays are severely damaged, but we won. This victory belongs to each of us... every man, woman, and child. Every civilization, on every world. Now, as we take our first steps toward restoring what we lost, we must remember what it took to win. This wasn't a victory by a single fleet, a single army, or even a single species. If this war has taught us anything, it is that we are at our strongest when we work together. And if we can put down our grievances long enough to stop something as powerful as the Reapers, imagine what we can achieve now that they are defeated. It will take time, but we can rebuild everything that was destroyed. Our homes, our worlds, our fleets and defenses. All of this - and more. Together, we can build a future greater than any one of us could imagine. A future paid for by the sacrifices of those who fought and died alongside us. A future that many will never see. And while we still have many challenges ahead of us... We can face them together. And we will honor those who died to give us that future.
Hackett out
Spoken like a true champ
Man, hacketts epilogue (if you have enough war assets) is sooo fucking good
Stay home. Stay safe. Hackett Out.
Admiral Hackett = General Shepard
Captain Anderson = Sgt Foley
Two voices you'll recognize immediately from Modern warfare 2
i could watch this over and over and NEVER get tired of it. :)
Over the course of my life, I have watched many movies, played many games, and read many books. All of these have had speeches.
Be they bad, good, mediocre or just downright badass...
Then you have the godlike speeches. Speeches like these that make you want to jump out of your seat, and through the screen. That make you want to fight fearsome enemies, and battle alongside people you haven't met.
Out of all of these, there are only two godlike speeches. It doesn't matter how many times I watch them. How many times I listen to them. It could be 1000 times in an hour, a
Or 10 times in a year. These speeches make me want to fight. And they give me goosebumps...
EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Which are these you ask?
Well they are King Theoden's speech in the Return of the King, at the Battle of Pelenor Fields. And this speech: Admiral Hackett's speech to rally the races of the milky way as they prepare to jump to Earth... and the biggest battle of their lives.
They never fail to inspire. They never fail to impress me.
The presence of admiral hacket is like strong brave and do what ever it takes to get this war done
I would vote for someone like hackett
Joker: Commander, you've got a priority message from Admiral Hackett, requesting to come aboard
Sheppard: Permission denied
Hackett/Joker: You wanna say what?
Then he betrayed ghost and roach
The Song is called `` Stay Strong, Stay Together´´ it's the track No.17 from the Mass Effect SoundTrack. Enjoy
Lol Shepard wearing the leather casual outfit. C'mon man, you put on the dress blues for this scene.
This battle reminds me alot of the First Contact War both had alot of unknowns but we: Stand fast, Stand strong and Stand together.
Hackett out.
You know before I looked him up, I thought Admiral Hackett was voiced by Peter Cullen because the way he talks and his speech reminds me of Optimus Prime.
Just two more months and the legendary edition comes out
Hackett’s voice is so enviable......I am madly in love with it!
This scene is still absolutely one of the best I've seen in all gaming.
“Drawing Harbinger as soyjak and yourself as the Chad was a big win for us, Shepherd. Hackett out.”
if epic universal has a better theme park for mass effect series I would be ever so happy to see it even with those speeches combined
Good old Lance 💜 One of the best actors and voice actors out there
Admiral Hackett is the absolute boss 🙌
hey its hackettout!
I don't know why, but that quarian crossing his leg is so funny to me
A pragmatic leader, I'd follow into hell and back.
This sequence has so much more power in English as it has in German Synchronisation. Absolute Goosebumps! :´(
Epic moment
If it wasn’t for Cpt Anderson, Admiral Hackett would be my favorite military guy in mass effect. Both share a lot of stuff, gotta admit he has a better voice actor. Really fits his character so well
Independence day vibes.
ISetYourFaceOnFire YES
Hacket and kirrahe, bith give perfect speeches
Hackett for President of the Systems Alliance in ME5.
Paragon + 1000
After so many games, so many dialogues, so many xenophobia, so many discussions and turbulantions, gathering assets and building allianced the "Stand together" in the end of the speech hits good!
Stellar acting, not just voice acting. Void of any cheap and lazy stereotype, full of real life. My favourite character in this game together with Mordin Solus who's actor did a similarly impressive job.
ecuse me I have something in my eye...kk there we go!
Listening to this as humanity knocked off an asteroid for the first time
Garrus last words to Shepard is still the best 😭😭😭😭😭
I just beat the trilogy for the billionth time. Still. Fucking. Awesome.
Iconic
I dont know where he ranks in sci-fi admirals. But I hope to god it is high. Practically, inspiration, motivational and kind. His line where he told shelpard why they were chosen. And that he was proud of them.
Sheppards speeches are good. But I think they lose this round!
Love that man. I honestly felt inspired by him at times.
Some parts of the clothing details look down right ugly on the console. Are you running this on full settings because it looks so much better
El jaket es argentino papa
hackett and whack it out
Only Lance Henriksen could've delivered so epic a speech! Only Morgan Freeman could've outdone him.
Or James Earl Jones...
Idk i think Peter Cullen as optimus prime could definitely do pretty good
turn on auto subtitles at 1:22 XD
even better is "pachyderm" at the end :-)))
blumentopf190380 it used to say "we must give them no water" now it says something a bit else but still funny
yes......"the reapers will show snow blower but we must not know water" and later something with barrack :-)).
blumentopf190380 I have looked on many auto subs... legion says "sexy commander" on Rannoch... romanced Garrus says "Shepard hooking up with terry next to me"... Just after mass effect 3's sex scene, Tali says "Pay me"
the last one cracked me up proper
Illium is also often translated as helium
hahaha thanks for that!!!! :-)))) i love it!!!
There's a guy 39 seconds in that's backwards lol
It's funny how Hackett walks away, but keeps looking at the galaxy in a "I don't know if I forgot something" or "oh, I want a map like this on my ship" 😂😂😂😂... that part always put me out of the scene.
I always saw it as like a mic drop kind of look, like he's looking at all the Reaper icons on the map and he's just like "Fuck yeah"
All right I’ll say it. Hackett is thicc
So what happen to all the refugees on the citadel when it jumped to earth???? 🧐
Dude i MUST find the music that is marching while the speech, but i think it is not in the soundtrack (like the battle for earth track), what is the name of the track of the speech?
If you still haven’t found it after 7 years my friend (though that’s a long shot) it’s “Stand sting, Stand together”.
I would have to say in speech quality and voice quality Lord hood would have Hackett beat
Might of the galaxy don't make me laugh , more like might of 10 minutes nuisance to Reapers
You have both ends of the spectrum for this battle. I've seen someone say the Allied Forces were nerfed for drama, saying that the Thanix cannons could annihilate the Sovereign class Reapers.
I do not know where the evidence throughout the game is for this.
Then there are people that say the fleet had no chance against the Reapers, which is evidenced by the fact that the game literally can't help but show the Reapers flying away from the Crucible in order to give it a chance to dock with the Citadel.
Hackett should have let Shepard make the last speech. The other species respect and respond to him not Hackett.
Kinda cringe that you didn’t broker geth quarian peace
reapers == hamas.
Anyone else notice how Thicc Hackett is?
The bald guy certainly did.
Good speech... but SHEPARD should have made this speech.
She united the galaxy, not him.
If you found it, please tell me xD
You think this is epic? Just look up Shakespeare's St Crispins Day speech by Kenneth Brannagh, then you'll know epic.
Epic?
Yeah right, I know for a 100% fact that I could've written a better one, as could've pretty much any of the people who have reached that point, playing all the way from Mass Effect 1.
Why not let Shepard speak, not just to his own team but to all the fleet?
Noo, let's make this other guy walk into Shepard's ship like he would've accomplished it all, and let him give a way too short, uninspiring speech which he ends arrogantly by placing his name there. and try to cover that up with actually inspiring music. Pffft!
Inexcusable mistake. Much like the ending, though not THAT serious.
And it's also a missed opportunity to make a cultural reference to some great speech in history, like Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address?
Hell, they could've made it into a multi-choice event where you could've addressed the fleet in a serious, heroic and uplifting, or a comedical tone, and each of those speech-lines could've had some picked lines from some great speech in history, off course edited to fit the ME-universe.
**sigh** What the hell were they thinking?
I know,man.
That whole section, even the battle in space at Earth, was quite disappointing especially if you played since ME1. Priority Earth as a whole was extremely rushed, which becomes even more obvious as you reach the ending itself.
....for research purposes....
Would you like a mod that would improve/expand the cutscene at Earth (yes, also including Hackett's speech) to show more war assets and action in general?
RuSosan Writing a speech is a hard task.
+Admiral Hackett And we know you don't have the time, admiral.
Problematic. Criticizing works of others not good. Have to be at least sickened. Tissue will be needed.
Mordin, but you died curing the genophage.
