LoreWarrior Campaigns - The Battle of Tukayyid part 1

  • The battle of tukayyid cannot be understated as the important battle in the Inner Sphere for centuries. It's results would change the history of both the clans and the great houses forever. Where the clans had spent years dominating the great houses for the majority of the conflict, the forces of comstar however represented a threat that had a greater understanding of the clan war machine but most importantly, it's mindset.
    This lorewarrior details the circumstances around why the battle would start, the preparation of both sides and their objectives. Part two will feature the battles, broken down by clan.

    Far too many clan lovers consistently ignore the sheer disparities in size and capacity between the clans and the Inner Sphere. All the way up to Tukayyid, the only houses the clans were facing were Kurita, Stiener, and Davion, with some token Marik support. And even then, none of those houses had gone "all in" yet. Their economies hadn't shifted to full-on Wartime levels, most of their units hadn't even made it into the areas of operation yes, and the Capellans hadn't gotten involved at all, not had any of the major periphery powers like Canopus or Taurus.
    The Inner Sphere power could have drowned the clanners in a sea of cheap 3025-era mechs made in droves upon droves, saving the better gear for the better fighters. Quality of training and equipment are great force multipliers, yes. But we can look at our own history to see how far those go in the face of raw *quantity* Take a common and simple mech like an enforcer or blackjack. Pack it with medium lasers, toss in a pilot that's been taught the basics, and throw them into the fight backed up by a dozen of his buddies. With twenty similar such groups right beside them. Over and over and over again.

    • @magni5648
      @magni5648 Год назад +3

      Well yes. And this is exactly where you realise the real beauty behind Fochts entire strategic play here. The *outcome* of the Battle of Tukayyid was essentially irrelevant. The moment the Clans agreed to fight the battle? That's when they lost the war. Even if they won the battle, they would have spent months pulling together all of their best units for this one engagement, and would have ended up suffering massive attrition among those troops.
      The whole invasion effectively relied on keeping up its momentum and engaging the Inner Sphere in sequential high-speed actions that played to the Clans individual qualitative advantages, allowing them to sequentially overrun IS units while suffering very low casualties in each engagement. Just by agreeing to Tukayyid, they lost that vital momentum. If ComStar had lost at Tukkayid? The Houses would have laughed and then just ground what remained of the invading Clans' toumans into the dirt after being given all this time to get into gear.

    Another awesome video. Can't wait for more. This is the kind of fluff that makes Battletech so engrossing after so many years and the reason Clan invasion is so popular for BT fans. Personally, I somewhat prefer the 3025 era with that slight apocalyptic and desperate/patchwork feel to how mechs were considered as heirlooms and something worth salvaging in whatever state, due to declining technology level in Inner Sphere after the 3rd succession war. That setting made the battlemechs more valuable overall.
    I must commend you on your pronunciation of the names for Spanac, Luk, Brzo and Skupo, words from my native, serbo-croatian language. I must admit, I bust a gut every time I remember that Fasa used words for spinach (spanac), onion (luk), fast/quick (brzo) and expensive (skupo).

      Word of Blake had enough resources to not only carve out a portion of the inner sphere for themselves but isolate lay siege to every inner sphere government.
      The FFR chooses the clan over comstar, the corporation that save what remains of their nation and inner sphere as a whole.

      @@samuelvimes1 I know it's late but, of you're going to nitpick story decisions, you should probably include how the total Clan invasion force was utterly insufficient to take on the Inner Sphere in an all-out war. They didn't have the materiel (other than WarShips) or manpower to match even House Steiner's standing military (assuming the Clans worked cooperatively in the corridors, which they didn't) and their logistical supply line was months-long.
      A culture that prides itself on efficiency and tactics should have never even attempted such a ridiculous plan without at least using politics to isolate a single enemy like the FRR or Combine, occupy it more or less entirely and solidify their holdings to assault Terra at a later date. They didn't even do a half-assed job of trying to win during the proxy battle because muh batchall and muh honour, whereas Comstar was running suicide attacks on Dropships.

      @samuelvimes1 4 года назад

      @@imasspeons
      I disagree with you on that. The first 3 clan invasion books and the Jade falcon Phoenix trilogy gave a pretty plausible invasion scenario. The clans were only ever arm with omnimechs. The logistics were left vague but were inferred to be sufficient, such as the combined smoke jaguar/nova cat strike at luthien which lead to the destruction of 3 galaxies but did not on the whole slow down the clan invasion in any way. One can also assume the clan had a larger transport capacity. The clans had no trouble transporting 23 galaxies to Tukayyid on the specifies date for the battle. It took comstar several months to do the same. The clans could rearm and lauch campaigns faster than the inner sphere could react.
      It's was the latter novels and sourcebooks that rec-con the hell out of the clans. It's was like the writers did not understand the logistics requirements of that type of invasion .

    The WVE-9N. I don't like mechs that look like that. that look like a giant human being. Too Humanoid. way too Humanoid. I guess that's my preference though. Although I really do love the Grasshopper. That's about as humanoid as I'll go.
    I guess the battletech books still had to get out of that whole 80s feel. 80s drawings. Late 80s Early 90s mech designs. not my cup of tea.

The combined might of the remaining bears and the near full strength wolves could have been a lesson for the other clans. This could have turned the battle in the clans favor.
