    Clanners need specially bred warriors and armoured infantry (elementals) and advanced tech, They also need an extra mech in a star (5) to inner sphere (4) when they came up against similar troops they got there arses kicked, even the Gray Death Legion kicked there arses when using armoured troops

      Depends on the clan. Clan Wolf, Clan Ghost bear and Jade Falcon have repeatedly should to be in conventional combat, far superior than to most of their innersphere counter parts. Clan Wolf especially, considering they have the top Merc unit with Wolf’s Dragoons. Theyre also extremely adaptable and were one of two clans to actually later reach Terra and war over it, and the one to win with and become ilclan. Mind you they do all this with MUCH smaller numbers and a strained as hell supply chain line. I get its cool to hate on the clans when you prefer the Innersphere, but lets give some credit here where its due. It took comstar to stop the first clan invasion by using the clans own dumb honor codes against theme with their own home turf advantage and weapons that were almost on par with the clans do to
      Them hoarding all the good star league era after the innersphere went full stupid and nearly nuked itself into the stone age. I hardly consider comstar to to be an “the innersphere” regardless of its location, and as we found out later that weird space wizard cult wasnt any better than the clans. The me the Innersphere didnt truly start kicking clanner ass till they decided to trial of annihilate smoke jaguars over compensating asses.

I saw MW5 Mercs on the Playstation store, got it, and started finding many RUclipsrs. Searching for Hotline Miami remixes, I found Jason Skye, then I found Sven Van Der Plank, then found many more thanks to him. And since I'm a lore fiend for any series I enjoy, Sven, Big Red and your LoreWarrior series are absolute gold mines!

    Great revision, looking forward to the other parts. :)
    It does strike me as rather un-clanlike however that Ulrich would refer only to their superior tech as their greatest advantage. I would've thought they see their heritage and biology or even their discipline and training as just as 'superior' to the Inner Sphere. Or perhaps he had a more realistic view on their traditions and beliefs?

    • @CriticalRocket
      @CriticalRocket  4 года назад +8

      I put that down to his understanding of the Inner Sphere. He knows a majority of his fellow clansmen are kind of indoctrinated and not clearly thinking about this as a total war, more as a prolonged trial. He turns this to his own advantage during the post invasion years briefly, but yes he is more of a realist compared to other Khans of the clans.

    • @shade8816
      @shade8816 Месяц назад

      I'd say a mix of realistic view and overall battlefield doctrine. Mentioning superior training is a way to boost moral, but in this case he is flat out telling them what they need to do to win. Long range zapping dakka, supply lines, and not underestimating the enemy.
      Of course, clanners being clanners, most of them didn't listen. And so they lost.

  • @magni5648
    @magni5648 Год назад +1

    The real beauty to Tukayyid was that it didn't even truly matter who won. By accepting the battle to begin with, the Clans effectively lost the war already.
    So what if the Clans won the battle? They'd sit there, having pushed the majority of their military through a meatgrinder, the entire momentum of their invasion gone. Great, they beat ComStar. Watch the Great Houses give a fuck after having been given more than enough respite to rebuild their own forces and a strategic picture that has developed towards a more static and attrition-based war than the blitz of the invasion. And that's a war the Clanners just don't have the industry and manpower to win.

      @CriticalRocket  4 года назад +4

      Well FASA made agreements with the company who created Dougram, so I wouldn't say they stoled it like Harmony gold would have people believe. When the purge of outside art happened, they didn't have to stop using their art, but FASA did just to avoid any potential issues rising. When it came time more recently to use the art again, the company was happy to make a new agreement. I can only guess because the anime wasn't very big outside of Japan and this way the art is seen by more people. Also the names are much better, roundfacer or Griffin?

      Do you have the sourcebook? It says it in there, likely a mistake on the writers part which isn't uncommon for Battletech given the size of the universe. Remember all of this is from the book, verbatim, I haven't added anything here :)

      @@CriticalRocket There are so many source books for BT and I came late into it, so I don't know which source book supersedes which one. I recall Lincoln Osis being Khan of Smoke Jaguars during Tukayyid from "Blood of Kerensky" trilogy of novels, and I also found info about this in "Battletech: Invading Clans" sourcebook.

    • @CriticalRocket
      @CriticalRocket  4 года назад +3

      @@MikeKnell2884 Correct Lincoln Osis has never been anything buy the Khan but for the battle, numerous Sakhan were involved such as the loremaster. I think the term is used shorthand in the book to denote leaders of their respective clans.

    • @johngolden3714
      @johngolden3714 3 года назад

      @@CriticalRocket There's inconsistencies in the various sources. "Invading Clans" says it was Khan Lincoln Osis's mech cockpit was destroyed. In "Battle of Tukkayid" it says it was Loremaster Hoyt cockpit that was struck and then his mech toppled over and crushed Osis, who was an Elemental. Possibly hitching a ride on the mech. I wish they'd iron those out in some revised editions.

    Okay something that confused me. What do you mean when you say "Clan X bid away such and such galaxy" are you saying they gave up whole units? who were they giving them to?

    • @CriticalRocket
      @CriticalRocket  4 года назад +11

      Bidding rules for the clans usually go like this. Clan X wants something from clan Y. X challenges Y to a batchall. Both sides then bid what forces they will deploy for the upcoming battle. Now the aim is to bid as low as possible to show you are that confident of victory you need far less than your opponent. So when Smoke Jaguar bid away multiple galaxies they just put them on the bench so to speak.
      These galaxies just sit there and cannot take part in the battle because they have been removed from the order of battle. The clans did this to be the first to attack Tukayyid, Smoke jag getting the first battle because they basically bid the lowest number of troops to achieve their objectives. This was exactly what the Comguard wanted and so it was easy to defeat them. Clans gain more honour if they can win with less forces than their opponent, but the Inner Sphere doesn't care about honour and it usually bites them in the arse because of it.
