- The penultimate clan to face off against the Comguards was Steel viper. One of the lesser clans lets say from a writing perspective anyway, they are probably the closest to a middle ground clan in terms of warden and crusader views. Plus they made the Battle Cobra and no game has yet to give me the Battle Cobra. Sad face.

Historians debate whether it was simply awkward, or played a key role behind Clan discipline breaking down in multiple sectors, but all agree it stands as proof trolling still existed during the Clan Invasion era and that it made those try-hards big mad.

The Steel Vipers were among the more aggressive Clans. It cost them dearly at the end of the Wars of Reaving.
I was gonna say that Tukayyid really wasn't Steel Viper's proudest moment, but looking at the rest of their history, it's hard to say what their proudest moment would actually be. Failing to invade the Jade Falcons, starting the Wars of Reaving, getting themselves annihilated, and nearly all of their notable Khans and Sakhans were either killed doing something stupid or deposed in disgrace after failing to do something stupid. Say what you will about the shortcomings of Clanner society, at least most of the other Clans were actually good at it.
I guess they are the clan who had ambition but never really had the means to achieve any of that ambition.

Poor Vipers, they can come back to the inner sphere ANY TIME they'd like. We have a few new weapons we'd like to show them :).
ah yes Clan Cognitive Dissonance, seriously when I first got into Battletech I thought Smoke Jaguar was the worst clan but these guys really take the Idiot Ball and run with it

Clan Jade Falcons will always be the biggest assholes to me.
They are the second strongest clan but they are always jealous of wolf, manipulated and betrayed smoke jaguar, and half of their Khans are insane psychopaths that enjoy massacring civilians
I mean they apparently invaded without warning and only gave batchall half way through the invasion and one of my favorite bits they declared some kuritain defenders dishonorable and violated the rules for using mines
while they unironically sucker punched there military with heavier mechs and more mechs than they had fuuuucccck you which was there only bondsmans response in his head cause well he figured he screw them over harder if you just say yes then empty the gun they give you into your captors spine
Yeah, I get the impression that the Steel Vipers like their missile weapons. They've got better damage-to-ton ratios than ballistics, but are still pretty ammo-hungry.
Oh, MekTek added the Battle Cobra to their updated version of MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, by the way. :)

Yes. Luthien is a great campaign and I will tackle it after Klondike.

One big question though. At 12:12 you mention there being a provisional cluster made up of freebirths, don't the Steel Vipers have a strict trueborns-only policy for their warrior castes? Or is this another case of writers not sharing notes again like with Stackpole and Thurston depictions of the clans not matching up with the source books?
