I bought the 48A version. The one with the cable is like for 32A.
Great video and I learned something… the stop charging button on the car. I didn’t know that was a button. 🤦🏼♀️
And if we do start traveling, this seems to be a must have.
That button actually doesn't do anything when charging at Level 2. It only works when DC Fast Charging.
Thanks for the video! I bought this one this summer as my destination only had the Tesla destination chargers. Someone above asked about theft. It has a small hole on the locking trigger with the car to put a small luggage size padlock. That will stop the casual theft. Note someone can disconnect the Tesla end easily but if you put a small lock on it they can’t easily remove the adapter from your car.

I had gotten the Lectron adapter 2 years ago , it was the one with the 8” cable so not as compact, but works great. Not used a whole lot, but super convenient when it does. Good to show it’s use. Often Tesla Destination Chargers are higher current than adjacent J1772 chargers. 😊
Patrick, the only downside I see is that there is no way to physically lock it to ether the charger cable or the car. I had one stolen last week.

Is there anything stopping someone from coming by your Mach-e while it's charging, disconnecting the charger, and stealing the adapter? It seems like nothing is locking the adapter or the charging cable into the car? Edit: Just saw your comment about the small lock hole. That seems to work.

You may encounter signs saying "Tesla vehicles only" at some locations. In 5 years of using these adapters, I have been confronted only twice - once by a Tesla employee.
If I could get mine it would be great.

Hey Dani! The adapter does not exist yet. We should hopefully have access to one Spring 2024. When it happens, you will hear about it all over social media I'm sure and on our channel! But until then, an adaptor does not yet exist for us to use Superchargers, so we just have to be patient and wait excitedly! - Liv

First off, love watching your channel. I kept me super excited while waiting for my Mach-E. 😄
In terms of the a charger, I went with a Tesla charger and the Lectron Adapter. Price point was great-flexibility was better. However, after charging using the adapter, the Mustang now gives me a "Charge System Error" on every start-not charge-just on start. I can't clear the error. I don't know if its because of the adapter or a fault with the vehicle. Anyone else run into that issue?
How are you stopping the charge? Is it reaching the set charge level or are you stopping the charge manually?
Does the Lectron Tesla adapter allow for a padlock to secure the adapter to the cable?
I've found that the Tesla destination chargers at hotels are often higher power (more kW) than the J1772 EVSE's. So I agree that having a Tesla adapter is a great purchase if you road trip!
It has a small hole that you could put a lock to prevent the adapter from being unplugged from the car but it doesn't secure the cable to the adapter.
@@MachE_VLOG it'll at least 'prevent' the average passerby from stealing the pricey adapter at least.
I drilled a small hole in the other latch just enough to put a second lock. This is great at hotels where you will find T-destination chargers for free…if you are staying there. The newest T-destination chargers can be set to Tesla only. Nothing you can do but ask the owner to switch it to all cars. It works great. 48 amps is no problem

@@MachE_VLOG ok but it may help to educate people the reason why it won’t work on Superchargers is because CCS has two DC pins that are not part of this adapter. Just a thought.
Hi Patrick, what tools/apps are you using to monitor a charging session on your Mach-e?
I use Car Scanner with an ODB2 dongle.

What keeps someone from unplugging and stealing the adapter?
I've been having trouble using an adapter at home with a telsa generation 3 wall connector. The settings on the wall connector allows all vehicles to charge, but I haven't been able to charge since October. Ford did an update in late October and I think that has prevented me from charging at home. Is anyone else having this issue?

Do you have to setup an account in the Tesla app? What do you have to do there?
This is only for destination Tesla chargers which do not require any app or other activation.

Tesla Wall Connectors are only up to 48 amps and this adapter supports up to 48 amps.
I know this is over a year old, but did you ever try the Lectron adapter on a 3 phase system like the one @pmount82 was asking about. I've tried many of the adapters from Amazon, but not the Lectron as it was much more expensive. Many of the destination chargers where I would like to charge have this 3 phase 277V 80A supplies and none of the reviews I've found so far so what the capabilities of the DCs are. About half of the local DCs use the 277V, but the ones that were 240V all worked with the adapters I've tried. Did you ever run across any DCs that didn't work and you couldn't explain why, and did you ever check the voltage of the DCs you charged at?
Will this work on Tesla's USA network?
It works on Tesla Destination and Home chargers.

Is there a "fast charge" option for the mach-e?
Not sure what you mean. If you mean fast charging at Tesla SuperChargers, there isn't an adapter you can buy to do that for any non-Tesla. Tesla has started making some of their stations usable by non-Teslas, but it is only a few stations right now. If you mean can the Mach-E charge fast, yes it can. It will charge at up to 165 kW at fast charging stations.
Would this adapter be easy for someone to steal while charging?
It has a small hole on the latch that attaches it to the car so you could put a lock there. That would prevent someone from from detaching the adapter from your car.
How low you let your battery be before you charge it at home?
I generally just charge every night.

why does everyone want to charge on a Tesla charger? What happens when a Tesla arrives expecting to us that charger?
It's a charger for hotel guests and I was a hotel guest. Why wouldn't I want to charge there. And with all chargers, it is first come, first serve. They will have to wait or find another place to charge.

I believe this is a dumb adapter and there is no need to wait.
Lectron says to wait 30 seconds so I went with that.
