My mom had these, plus spider plants. I have a heart leaf philo which came from cuttings from her plant, which is from the heart leaf philo she got as a gift plant in the hospital when I was born, in the 60s.
I’ve killed several golden pothos 🤣 I can keep expensive, rarer plants alive and thriving but not this one! Maybe it’s time to try again. Good thing they are affordable!
I personally find my philodendron brasil to be super fast growing. I got it last summer as a baby and it's literally taking over my house. All of philodendron plants take over lol. Basic heart leaf and Monstera..all big plants! And they grew super fast!
same i love my philodendron brasil/ cordatum they’re so fast growing and for some reason i always have a problem w pothos being leggy and don’t like them near as much as philo cordatums
To mention some plant that's not trailing nor climbing, my Alocasia Cucullata grows insanely fast. It doesn't get much light but it's standing right next to the humidifier, and it grows new leaf every two weeks. It's getting huge so fast it scares me.
My rhaphidophora tetrasperma is literally the fastest growing plant have indoors. It grows new leaves DAILY! It's definitely like a freaking weed and I love it!
"give it a grow" love it. I'm genuinely not sure if you did that on purpose or not haha Edit: I am SHOCKED at the lack of string of hearts in this video 😂 where is your love for him? You used to talk about it every third video!
Turtle vines! They are beautiful and bushy with dark green and purple leaves, and grow like crazy. Ridiculously easy to propagate too! Just stick a cutting in some dirt and it will take off.
I definitely struggle being patient. My pothos cuttings from a coworker were struggling so I cut them all up to propagate and make a new lush plant friend.
Great video. For some reason everyone seems to ignore spider plants. Too common, I guess. But they grow really fast and can grow well even five feet from a north window!
I have all three different spider plants , the Bonnie, variegated and green spider plant . Loki the variegated one I got from my older sister cause it took over the window it’s so big . Molly the Bonnie spider plant I use to have the mom and gave it to a family member for a bday present .Green monster one I got off of my moms plant as a baby .
Nick with a scindaptis, is there a point that you've waited maybe a little too long to water it and then the leaves really don't flatten back out I had one that did that they kind of just stayed curled
I don't know what wrong I am doing but my montera adinsonii can't grow because all her new leafs are drying before it even open up. What could be the reason for this? Dry air?
My fastest growers are my scindapsus pictus argyraeus and my syngonium. I have had the syngonium for a year and have already made 5 full plants from cuttings
I got the string of needles a couple of months ago based on this video. I loved the look of it when I saw you talking about it and I absolutely LOVE it. It's growth so much! It's incredible.
Hi Nick, I love your videos. Your info is so perfect, so concise ... clear, informative and to the point. ❤ You are the only RUclipsr that I watch at normal speed and not at 1.5x speed. 🤣
My first ruby cascade arrived dry as a bone and then when I watered it, it immediately rotted. Tried saving pieces of it and lost the struggle with it. I see it on your channel often (that’s why I bought it) but maybe I should try it again if i can find it. Thanks for another great video Nick!
I just picked one up about a month ago and I also love it - fantastic plant. It's already spitting out a bunch of new little leaves. I was surprised how thick the leaves were great plant.
omg I’ve been trying to ID any peperomia ‘ruby cascade’ for MONTHS now, bless you 😭 fastest grower in my collection is BY FAR tradescantia zebrina, it’s truly in a league of its own. I’ve only had my guy for 3 months and it went from a couple leaves in a little 1 inch pot to maybe 6 vines spilling over the edges of a 4 inch pot. my pothos (epipremnum, at least) are the closest runners-up, though I found that they take a little more time acclimating before really taking off. my scindapsus, on the other hand, is very much still recovering from a nasty bout of root rot, but I’m hoping it picks up growth again soon!! edit: also honorable mention to my philo micans for regularly exploding with new growth and being super easy to propagate
I love plants. But I also am not the best plant mom. Lol. That pepperomia ruby cascade is soooo fast growing it’s unreal. I LITERALLY swore I could SEE it growing right before before my eyes lol. I swear it grew a foot in 2 weeks. It was insane. They do poop out at a certain point tho. I didn’t know what to do at the time. But now I know lol
Just an FYI for anyone who'd like to get a scindapsus pictus but might not know this: its leaves will curl up if overwatered as well! So in case you get one from a friend or a store and they haven't put it in well enough draining soil, it can be a good idea to check the soil as well before watering 🙈 Definitely not speaking from experience...
One of the people at my work have a pothos by their desk. When I started a few months ago it was a pretty decent size plant. Now it's trailing to the floor and still growing lol it's such a nice plant
The reason i am really investing in my education is that i want to get a good job to be able to level up from my small appartment so i can have more plants, and in the long term i hope i am able to one day maybe even own a garden (i live in a small but expensive country, space is just very expensive). So basically, plants are my reason to do anything in life:)
THANKYOU for talking a little bit about Pepperspot. I picked one up at my grocery store a few months ago. It's such a cool plant, even without the red tones!! I have tried to figure out the difference between a ruby cascade for a while now. Love your videos!
Is there a reason why you do not propogate more cuttings of the more sparse pots of plants and then put them back in the pot or create a fuller pot? For example, I think the pothos you showed would look 4x more full if you lined cuttings up against the entire rim of the pot vs having a few vines grow up from the middle. Just curious.
I need a rhafidaphora tetrasperma! I want to add (maybe my plant just loves me, but) my tradescantia zebrina grows like crazy! Gorgeous in my macrame hanger and I always see them for cheap at the stores.
Same! Last summer I got one tiny cutting now I have a very big full plant that's a meter long and I've given whole plants to 3 friends I swear I think it grows a new leaf every 2nd day

I started my Rhaphidophora tetrasperma in a 4 inch pot. I split it into cuttings right away and 6 months later one of my cuttings decided to take off and is 7 feet tall. Crazy vigorous grower.
I loved watching this video. It's always interesting to hear what plants do well for people. I think one of the fastest-growing plants for me is tradescantia fluminensis vergata. I also think that tradescantia silomontana grows really fast for me. However, if you grow tradescantia silomontana in higher light, I find it grows slower and produces denser, fuzzier growth.
Whenever people complain about ivy I just get more confused. Mine has been growing in a jar with water, getting lowlight with no direct sun, zero pests whatsoever, and has grown like mad...I don’t get it...like what did I do?!
@@cesargarcia1816 you judge whether a plant needs water by seeing how pliable the leaves are. If they bend into a taco shell shape, it's time to water.
RIP to the two houseplants of mine that made this list - my Raph and my "Ruby Cascade" - that sadly passed on to the great eternal woodland-jungle-forest in the sky :) And ruby cascades are still pretty expensive, at least in my area
I recently ordered two Ruby cascades from Home Depot for I think $14 each. They came in pretty good shape. I think they ship from California and I’m in Nevada so it didn’t have far to travel. If you see it out of stock just keep checking. I believe you can return it in store if it comes damaged. :)
Pothos along with Aglaonemas are my favourite plants. Pothos grow like crazy, they look great and they're happy in every spot. Aglaonemas don't grow very fast but they are so easy and look gorgeous. I have loads of both.
To prevent the balding of ruby cascade, once a while place it on a ledge where the light source is vertically above it. I am trying it and it seems to be helping.
Thank you for this video- I'm always trying to find the fastest growing indoor plants & this is very helpful! In case anyone reads this, I will share my experience.. I know this video is solely about houseplants, but I do feel the need to mention basil. I know, I know- it's an herb & not at all similar to the others. But I grow basil from seed & it's def a prolific grower. I also grow coleus from seed (rainbow mix) & they are amazing. It's always such a fun little surprise because the rainbow mix is random & you end up w/ several completely different looking plants even though they came from the same little seed packet. They're extremely easy, they're stunningly beautiful & they grow very quickly. Some of them remain little & compact & absolutely adorable, while others will quickly have leaves the size of your hand. And I definitely have to add philodendron brasil. I got 2 of them about 2-3ish months ago. It was during the middle of winter & I didn't expect for them to do much for awhile. But they continue to amaze me & have been consistently putting out tons of new growth, straight through the coldest, darkest time of year. I had to go up to 8" pots for both & I've already taken a bunch of cuttings which are doing very well. I really think they are the fastest growing plants I've ever had.
Every time I watch your videos and decide to google a plant you mentioned, I always put 'Australia' at the end, because - well, that's where I am. And every time, before I get to finish, it pops up as one of the top 3 options. No idea how many Aussies you have watching.
Bought my Golden Pothos from Rooted because I had credits. It arrived in okay condition. You can tell they were just a bunch of cuttings potted up. It was in a 4” pot. After the credit, winter insurance, taxes, and whatnot, it still cost me almost $3. I wish I knew about Hirt’s, Gabriella and Etsy before I spent the credit on it though. I must be doing something wrong as well, it hasn’t grown since I got it in December. It probably has since there are so many leaves to keep track of though. I don’t even know.
Hey, thanks Nick for the advice on getting a pepperomia ruby cascade, from another of your videos maybe from last year or so. I finally finally saw them at Walmart and I bought 2. They are very fast growing and I think just as cute as the now very expensive other plant. I'll won't mention any names...hehe
does anyone know if the wax ivy plant (Senecio macroglossus "Variegatus") is toxic to cats & dogs? the ASPCA website doesn't have it listed, but it does say other senecio species are toxic, specifically ragwort.
Hey, Nick! Do you have any experience with “Silver Squill?” (Ledebouria Socialis)? I just got one and it’s beautiful! And was CHEAP. Not sure why it’s not more popular? The foliage is insane looking imo!
I love peporomia ruby cascade I have that for awhile its doing really good then it died .. dont know why lol.then next thing I know its start growing back And it's so full and long now
I think the skindapsis Silver Ann is the fastest at growing long. The Golden Pothos is the fastest at getting giant leaves and increasing in size. It's almost scarey how big it gets! (like Little Shop of Horrors movie -monster plant). LOL Angel the skindapsis was 6 feet long. It sat on an oak stool and hung all over the floor like an octopus. Now it is hanging and it looks like a waterfall of leaves. (very full) 4 feet long. Just cut off 2 feet.
Golden pothos is that plant that you keep cutting back and you got a little pothos in the kitchen, the living room, the bathroom, the bedroom 😂 now it like oh I have like 1 giant mother plant and throughout the years tons of the baby's just growing everywhere. It's like oh wow I have a lot of pothos everywhere . Why are you growing so well. Put it in a dark room and it still grows
Is there a plant which has more of a blue tinge than plants called 'blue?' Turqoise leaves or close to it would be great. I know, not asking for much. Thanks.
Nick, I love your videos! This particular one is exactly what I needed be/c I have a blank white wall in my living room and am planning to purchase large pots and placing plants with stakes on either side, so they will climb. Question for you... which would you choose between the tetrasperma vs the adansonii? Pros and cons ? Its a pretty sunny west facing room. Thx!
Umm silver pothos is not $5 at your local grocery store. I had to search far and wide and finally found a 6 inch pot at a nursery for $20. Much more expensive on etsy also!
English ivy is something that will grow insanely fast if you give it what it needs, it has pushed out 2 leaves wothing the past week and i have only watered it once since i got it, about a month ago.
I got a golden pathose to practice, but I don't know what to do, it is always welted no mater how often I water. I got it were the leaves were already burnt from to much sun. So I thought near my window off the the side would be perfect. But it really didn't react in any way. I have had to prune half the leaves that started browning. And some leaves are yellow....
My Peperomia Ruby Cascade grows so insanely fast (in West window). My 1” starter has nearly doubled in size in less than 2 months! Love a Peperomia that actually grows 🤗
I wanted a pearls and jade because of the shade of the variation, but had to settle for an n joy. I am really puzzled by it. It hasn't grown a bit. I guess that all you can do is propagate it. Thanks.
14:36 That senecio is lovely and I hope it catches on to maybe someday replace ivy as a houseplant, especially because regular ivy is an allergy/sensitization disaster that can trigger asthma and cause people to develop breathing difficulty and rashes if they say, touch it every other day and trim it regularly.
Great video, as always! I'm wondering if new leaves would grow on the lower ends of your raphidafora tetrasperma vines if you removed the yellowed leaves and put growth paste (keiki?) on those nodes. I've never tried it. Have you?
My neon pothos reverted to just a normal green color, like an unvarigated golden pothos. They grow about the same speed if not just about the same rate.
Dude..cut that Linares and propergate it in the same pot...fill that pot up...they do grow fast...I made 3 out of one string...nice choices on the others..
I really appreciate the fact that you explained/showed how to tell that the plant needs water even though that wasn't your topic! I always learn so much from your vids. Thank you!
I got a single-leaf cutting of an adansonii in fall, it has since grown 4 new leafs with a fifth currently on its way! And i thought it was just cause i grow it hydroponically.
I got a golden Pothos a year ago, and mine isn’t thriving! I’ve moved it several times, changed the way I watered it, and it still had barely grown if at all!
I hope that someday I meet someone who loves me the way Nick loves pepperomias.

Nick, can you please explain to me what the difference is between a Devils Ivy and a Pothos. I always thought they were the same plant 🤦♀️
@@cadavercakes Thank you for explaining 😊
2yrs later, Pothos are now $19.99 for a smal hanging and $5.99 for a 4inch which isnt bad for a 4in, they are my favorite plant❤
I wish I was one of Nick’s friends to get some of those amazing cuttings that he gives
Every time I watch your videos and decide to google a plant you mentioned, I always put 'Australia' at the end, because - well, that's where I am. And every time, before I get to finish, it pops up as one of the top 3 options. No idea how many Aussies you have watching.
Aussie too. I add au also in search.
I grow my Adonsonii trailing and it grows like CRAZY
Mine hangs for a window and grew 3 foot in 6 months
I came across Nick today I’m in love with house plants now. I decided to start a project to get as many variations as I can. Great job bro.
Spider-plant: hippity hoppity, yourroom is now my property.
does anyone know if the wax ivy plant (Senecio macroglossus "Variegatus") is toxic to cats & dogs? the ASPCA website doesn't have it listed, but it does say other senecio species are toxic, specifically ragwort.
Thanks.
I love my Adonsonai
Nick, I love your videos! This particular one is exactly what I needed be/c I have a blank white wall in my living room and am planning to purchase large pots and placing plants with stakes on either side, so they will climb. Question for you... which would you choose between the tetrasperma vs the adansonii? Pros and cons ? Its a pretty sunny west facing room. Thx!
my rio plant, golden pothos, inch plant and baby tears/swedish ivy just growing like weed. The are so fast growing
I love watching your videos. Your voice is so soothing, I just zone out and druel over your plants lol Thanks ! You are very thorough!
Dude..cut that Linares and propergate it in the same pot...fill that pot up...they do grow fast...I made 3 out of one string...nice choices on the others..
i agree with all of these but my syngoniums grow exponentially to the point where i’ve had to repot the one plant thrice in the last year
omg I just love you. Thanks for sharing one today. I needed something inspiring before the weekend of planty fun!
Yuuuup my 4" baby adansonii outgrew a 3 ft pole in one summer. It was crazy!
My scindapsus is the slowest growing plant in my home even with a lot of Sun
How do you water a plant that’s so sturdily staked to something, like a moss pole or a wall?
hey, my partner loves your shit, but you should hire me to fix your audio, i'm gay and pretty cheap
I have one string of English Ivy and it grows so fast. I haven't had the heart to cut it up for propagation yet.
I have a monstera adonsonii and it’s grown so much in 3 full months since I got and I’m going to try the pole to see if it’ll grow more
I have Monsterra Adamsonia, started out with one plant, now ai am growing 4 more out of vines
