I told my husband that you said Hoya's are slow growers. He laughed. I have a Hoya Carnosa(?!) that he affectionately calls the Murder Plant as it's taken over a wall in the bathroom and has noticeable growth every day, and there's new plants all around the house that are cuttings from the momma murder plant. 😂
Mine is the murder plant cause I wake up in the middle of the night and it’s stretching a vine like three feet toward me (incidental but nightmare fuel LOL). Grew it from a tiny sprig but now that it is established it grows and grows and grows!
I hope nick sees this but I also wanted to point out that at first glance I wouldn’t appreciate most of the plants that nick talks about but the way he speaks and how knowledgeable he is about them makes me appreciate them soo much and it gets me as excited about plants as I was in the beginning of my journey in like 2017 🥲💛
Your taco test idea has saved so many of my peperomias and other plants as well . Thank you so much for that piece of advice . I heard you talk about it a few years back . Tried and true every since
Nick, you're one of the first people I've heard pronounce Cebu correctly. I usually hear people say sea-boo and was pronouncing it that way until I learned it was a plant from the Philippine's. I asked my dad who is Filipino if he'd knew of it and he said I was pronouncing it wrong and that it's more of a s'boo with a shorter s sound. Ughhh your plants are LUSH! I can't wait for mine to trail as beautifully as yours.
I love how you likened the cebu blue to the color of the Statue of Liberty, so true! And like my favorite pair of jeans, you can dress then up or down and they go with everything. Love your videos Nick❤️
Tbh as lovely as they are, I am not diving in with Hoya because I remember when I grew up my mom had them and they took over the living room and their constant blooms where dripping that sugary stuff everywhere. I still see the attraction for sure, some of those leafs are gorgeous, but I prefer to visit Hoyas and enjoy them at other people's houses. :D My newest favourite trailer is just a common Scindapsus pictus I got for cheap from a local store where it was dying and they were about to throw it out. The ones I get back from the brink always end up my favourites. :)
I live in Canada and have a north facing window, and have kept string of pearls alive and thriving for 4 months now! So I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. Surprisingly, the consistently bright light you get all day in a north facing window does very well for a lot of plants. When I first got it, it was all contained in the pot, now it trails about 3 inches! I only water when it’s plastic nursery pot gets extremely light, sometimes that’s 2-3 weeks between watering.
I live in Canada with north facing windows too! I find I can grow many things as long as they are grown directly in the windowsill. If they are more then a foot or so away they don't get enough light and plants tend not to grow. Luckily I have rather wide windowsills so they are all packed with plants!
@@SohiHien yea! I only have large north facing windows and have no problem growing “sun loving” plants. I even keep my lowlight plants a few feet away from the window. I wonder if the hole in the atmosphere above us contributes to their survival....
Yep, I have 3 north facing windows and one south facing window in my place. My north facing windows have the majority of my plants because they won't get burnt! Cissus and Peperomia plants do just fine being pulled back from the north windows in my experience. I have a cissus rhombofolia about 4 feet away from my north window (with an overhang for my balcony!) and I can't get it to STOP growing! My peperomia obtusifolia shot out 3 new leaves in about a month being 5 feet away. I highly encourage getting a plant light meter app if you have a smart phone that measures lux. I figured out that even being pulled that far back, they get around 500-700 lux (which is the low end of bright indirect light).
About the heat ... I'm currently sitting on one of my dogs cooling mats being blasted by two ventilators to somehow survive the workday in my home office. So ... yeah, it's a lot :D
None the f my strings have ever struggled since while back I heard you say to repot to right away in terracotta. I feel proud to say I've never killed or struggle with a strings because of your advice 😊 🙌

I’ve never had a Hoya but they look stunning, my favourite trailing plants are most varieties of pothos/philodendron/string of hearts and tradescantia ❤️
Love the Wax Ivy I bought one that Home Depot was trying to kill last winter and it is growing like crazy an incredible plant I'm so glad I found it, now it's one of my favorite plants.
Am I the only one who has had luck with the string of pearls in plastic? I have had mine for a few years also . I have never repotted it once and never plan on it . Thank you Nick for the video
Yes. I purchased a string of hearts and pearls at the same time. My string of hearts grew and then seemed to stagnant. The pearls just shriveled up and died. My string of hearts did not start doing its thing until I put it outside on a shady porch. Now it is finally looking like something.

I have to admit that when you first mentioned Hoya's some time back, I was like, I don't get it. Well I get it now, 6 times and counting. lol. Thank you Nick! I just figured you were sweating for the greenhouse effect. 😁
Great video. The Hindu Rope Hoya is my favorite Hoya. I have a tricolor Hoya Carnosa and man does that thing grow slow. I think I just need to find the right spot got it in my home cause it hasn’t grown one bit in the 2 years I have had it. Also my favorite heart shape philodendron has got to be the Mican or Velvet leaf philo. It’s is absolutely beautiful.
Love you’re stuff. But maybe an unpopular opinion, I hate all string of plants. I love big bushy foliage and I do not like plants that are either dead or sparse at the top. Pothos and heart leaf philodendrons are my FAV
I also dislike the appearance of string plants, i feel they look too messy/chaotic if they grow profusely. I prefer plants with clean-shaped leaves like xerosicyos danguyi, stephania erecta or calathea :)
I hope this isn’t weird, but you look super mature and grown up. Maybe it’s the facial hair? As a baby faced 30 year old I notice these things. You look great!
I am really loving my Lace Flower (Alsobia dianthiflora) they are in the Gesneriad family. It grows so fast , is very easy to care for and is a great choice if you want a flowering vine. I have no idea why they aren't more common in plant shops.
I have one and it stays upset with me lol the new shoots that it sends off eventually dry up and die I have it planted in African violet soil cut with half perlite. I bottom water it the same way you would bottom water an African violet.. because I know the leaves turn yellow if they get wet. Any other advice? Thanks!
So happy to see many of my favorite plants on Nick’s list. Really appreciate the information and tips in this video as you work your way through your list! Well done!! 👏🌿🥰💚
I’ve been spraying my Hoyas leaves with “MiracleGro orchid plant food mist” and they are growing much faster. I also planted my Hindu rope in an clear plastic orchid pot so I can see when it is completely dry. I had a 2 leaf obovata cutting that did nothing for 3 months, then I started misting it with that spray and it began a leaf bud within 1 week.
I just love that you're from home! I'm originally from Hatboro/Willow Grove but live in Pittsburgh now. Would you ever do a meetup at the Flower Show in the future? I have to get back once its indoors again. So many memories taking the train in and snacking at Reading Terminal.

Hi Nick - If you want guaranteed success propagating cuttings in water, add a cutting of pothos to the same container of water as your cutting. It sounds weird, but it works. I was skeptical until I tried it, and I was amazed at how it works every single time, not only quickly, but successfully. Try it! The worst that can happen is your pothos will propagate, right? On a different note, can you give care instructions on Ming Aralias, the ones that look like parsley? I’ve tried growing them for literally decades, in different rooms, different houses, different lighting and watering, etc., and I’ve lost every one of them. I’m stubborn (or maybe stupid), and I keep buying them, albeit years apart when the pain and frustration subsides to a distant memory, because I love them so much. Thank you for such wonderful videos. I’m addicted to your channel and have been for years.
Yus! My pearls go bananas in the winter! So much so that I was able to chop and prop enough to start my own plant shop out of my house and she's still 3.5 ft long!!!
Thank you Nick for a great video, I love a trailing plant, and I do have the cebu blue, the philodendron lemon lime and pothos, the peperomias are another of my favorites. I have a Hoya publicalix, and many others that are trailing and climbing all over the place. My string of pearls is in an east facing window and seems to be very happy. I have the Kentiana variegated Hoya and it is one of my favorites, I am one that if I like it I will purchase it again, Lol! Try to stay cool Nick I do understand how the heat can be not so much fun. Beautiful trailers. 💚💚......... I’ve been watching you for quite a while now and I just have to say this full time RUclips gig ( I think) is really good for your soul Nick. Looking very happy and peaceful.
I hope more peperomia become common soon! I’m not willing to pay more than big box prices for them so I will wait, but I love pep. scandens and the quadrangularis here so hoping to find those commonly soon.
I just got a Hoya Pubicalix that is super similar to yours. Mine is about double that size in a 4 inch pot and I paid around 35 for it. Already in love with it.
Hoyas have been few and far between at my local plant shops and nurseries, I've grabbed every one I've seen. First was a carnosa compacta, then I got 2 small australis that I potted together, then I got a carnosa rubra and last was a chelsea, haven't seen any recently so that's all for now
Film at night! Or very early AM. I always remember doing garden work from 6am to 10am every day bc after that it’s just too hot! I reckon if you can’t have ac you can’t have a fan, so I’d try turning the temp down a little extra before you start, maybe like 3 to 5 degrees, and then see if that helps prolong your comfort.
My wayettii just got buds for the second time (last year it blasted most of the buds though). It seems to me like it likes really bright light. I've got it in a south-facing window now and it grows much better and faster than when it was in a east-facing window before.
Hey Nick, do you have a grape vine and vail bridal vine , I think that’s what’s it’s called 🤔 , if you do I would love to see them. Always enjoy watching you , ( your awesome 🤗) thank you 😊💕
My Hoya pubicalyx grows so fast! I have it in a macrame and it's shot out so many, whatever they're called, and has leaves al the way up to the ceiling and is starting to climb across
Hey Nick! Loved this video! 💚 I picked up a Hoya Krimson queen last year in august and it’s already bloomed for me hanging in a north/east window. I really suggest spraying the foliage with the miracle grow orchid food spray! It’s worked wonders for my Hoyas.
Hi Nick! You're so cute and funny in this video! I love your picks for trailing plants. I have a couple of Hoyas, I think the Publicalyx and a Bella, that are vining nicely. I have the Cebu Blue (I've been pronouncing it wrong) lemon lime, marble queen and Golden Pothos, a philo Brazil and green heartleaf and Scindapsus Pictus Argyraeus are all really nice vining plants. I still want to find a Wax Ivy and the Ceropegia linearis. I've tried so many peperomias, but they don't like me. I recently bought a peperomia Nevada (?) and so far, so good. I didn't even notice your sweat stains until you mentioned them. LOL! The blue shirt looks really good on you. Thank you so much for sharing!
I really want a cebu blue... I really don't like that lemon/lime color, I have a brazil philodendron and it has been giving me full lemon/lime leaves and I feel so betrayed

I have four scindapsus, several regular pothos, and several philodendron trailing plants.
Trailing plants are my favorite I want them all.
That waxy ivy is so fast growing and easy to propagate as well
That lemon lime deserves a chef's kiss!!!
When i dont have any of those plants... 😪
But nick pulls out the wayetii 😭🤣🤝 finally something i have!
That string of pearls is sorcery. Change our mind. 🤣
I'm excited to see how the pubicalyx and Cebu Blue do with me since they are new to my home
love watching your videos, Nick! You have a ton of plant knowledge, introduce me to beautiful plants, and are simply adorable!
Omg, love your sheer honesty. Thank you, Nick!
Actually that shirt really suits you 💚
I enjoyed seeing your favorite trailing plants! 👍 Thanks!
I want to be a plant and be adopted by Nick.
That hoya wayetii in that pot is stunning, Nick.
Lol, the sweating comment was so funny! Thank you Nick, very useful video!
Sweetie, be you! Don't worry about it!
Splash!! Pubicalyx. Love mine!!
ironically, looking super good in blue 😅 your fav
Hey Nick! Loved this video! 💚 I picked up a Hoya Krimson queen last year in august and it’s already bloomed for me hanging in a north/east window. I really suggest spraying the foliage with the miracle grow orchid food spray! It’s worked wonders for my Hoyas.
New sub! And your channel is 🔥thank you for feeding my new addiction ❤️
I would love a video on your Hoyas !
Uuuuh, looking 🔥 Nick!
👏👏👏 for saying sebu (Cebu blue), not saybu.
Hi Nick, have and love most of the plants you presented. Please do a video on your Hoya collection ✌️❤️
We should all Worship the Cebu Blue
