  • What's going on World?
    In this video, we deep dive into the idea of things I wanted or should have heard before getting into the towing and roadside business.
    I want to add to this by letting everyone know that a mentor would have helped smooth this learning curve and I strongly suggest you get one if you can.
    there are many things that I learned and I may turn this into a series depending on the response. business in general has taught me plenty and there has been no exception to that rule with the towing industry.
    I would like feedback on your experiences with business and the towing world leave me a comment down below and let me know the things you wish you would have known before I get into the business 💪🏿✌🏿💪🏿

    Bro I’m on a road trip and just listening to industry videos to pick up tips. I agree with you. I also have an ‘89 f350 7.3idi. I just had the engine rebuilt. Runs amazing and paid for. I would add 1) $5 CL ad is well worth it and 2) create your own web page on google. RUclips it. Don’t pay other people to do anything you can’t learn. 3) You need to be a Jack of all trades because mechanics take their families to Disney on customer ignorance.

      Man I'm with you I tell you I love a paid for truck! My IDI could definitely use it going through It's starting to have blow by nothing major but enough to make me say I have to rip it apart. Now I can rebuild an engine but it's not my specialty so the only thing I will say is I want try to be a jack of all trades in that sense anymore because it cost me more when I equate my time to research and all the other nuances. I'll be honest and say I'll pay for most things to be done. You need to know enough to do enough and not get taken advantage of. But I currently pay a coach and have no regrets and learning the shortcuts to success. I've done all the things you're referring to as far as advertising but I stopped using craigslist years ago. Let me know how that road trip's going shoot me an email over at Seasallauto@yahoo.com

    I know this video is old but this may help you and save you thousands. Depending on your credit get an interest free credit card they run for about two years. You can pay big things off and not pay interests. So for example you pay your insurance in full with no interest.
    That’s gotta be a saving of grands alone.
    It also gives you freedom as you only have to pay the minimum payment that month if you are short. You have to be very disciplined and good with money to do this strategy and make sure you pay it off before the end of the deal. As they go up to 25%. Hope this helps it will give you that cash buffer you need.

    I have thought many times about going into the towing business . You gave great advice about having a money reserve saved , before starting. I have been in search for a Chevrolet dually but not sure about getting it with a gasoline engine or a diesel . I'm more familiar with the gasoline engine and never owned a diesel automobile. I've heard that diesels pull better under load , than gasoline but i don't have experience with diesel engines. I'll probably buy the gasoline dually , in the end .
    I have decided to pursue a different business involving automobiles because I believe , I would enjoy it better. The business will be debt free from the beginning.
    Thank you again for the advice.

Depending on if its after hours , 18 wheeler etc. I never sign up w motor clubs. Theyll still need you if you established a good enough reputation! I just recently purchased a 1996 Ford F450 flatbed/wheel lift from a local auction for a total of $3,000. The registration was $162 and a set of spark plugs about $30. Drove it home listed on craigslist for $9,000 and had a change of mind.
    Yes it's old and requires a little more maintenance than a new truck, but it makes money and it's paid for.

    Ive been thinking about getting into towing, but id have to keep my day time job, the insurance part is what scares me.

    • @Fasttowpro
      @Fasttowpro  7 месяцев назад +1

      That’s kind of the problem. I know people who try to do the same thing. It is not easy to juggle. One of the reasons is because towing is sporadic. What happens when you get all your calls one day and you’re on your 9-to-5? For some reason in this industry, it always seems to happen like that 🤷🏿‍♂️! Another scenario is your equipment brakes do you have a service call to do and you’re supposed to be at work in a few hours?? You just have to be all in or be prepared for those types of situations I promise you they will happen eventually. It can be done just be prepared to make sacrifices and if your determination persist, you’ll be able to quit the job and go full-time if you like. I would suggest getting a second job as a towing operator to even verify you like the industry it’s not like the Internet makes it seem.😅

    @arielarocho3499 2 года назад

    Very good points made what is your take on funding groups for buying trucks?

    • @Fasttowpro
      @Fasttowpro  2 года назад

      It depends on your monetary status I don't think it's a bad idea it's no different than anything else if you hold the note you hold the power. The problem is trucks break especially when they used for something like Towing. With that you have to have a very good wrist tolerance to weather the storm of the towing industry. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of money to be made interest is interesting. Just be safe with it. If I had a dealer's license I would jump on it all day long because then there's legal bonding contracts and the ability to repossess for non-payment. In the private sector you can still write a contract but there is a good opportunity for that person to dip out without paying or repercussions. Either way make it happen if you feel that that's the move for you my bank account is personally not set up like that 😅 not yet at least

    I started a mobile mechanic business a few years back but it seemed all I got for business was friends and relatives, and you know what that means!
    So I stopped that endeavor.
    I've also towed most of my life and have wondered about starting my own towing service?
    When you mention the towing clubs, nothing could be further from the truth, they are "NOT YOUR FRIENDS"!

      I had to step back a bit from the mobile mechanic business. For a while, I was only getting the hard jobs which take up too much time. Now I aim to finish a job within two hours. Anything longer is not worth it to me. I want to get in and out.
      I did buy an old roll back (1980 Ford F350 w/460) for junk cars, flips and projects cars. I can tow someone if needed. The dream is to go legit and have a small repair shop with a large parking lot. You can do easy repairs, sell used tires and tow cars when needed. Then get a dealers license to sell cars. Gotta have multiple revenue streams.

    You just got a new sub man. Highly informative and truthful video. Appreciate you being transparent. I’m 26 and in Philadelphia. I was literally looking for the last two weeks, into buying a truck. I have a ‘96 F-Super Duty dump truck with a 7.3 turbo. I was considering either converting that into a rollback or selling it, combining it with my savings, then buying a Dually and throwing a wheel lift on it. Really just trying to break into the game and stop working for others.

    • @Fasttowpro
      @Fasttowpro  2 года назад +5

      Yo I appreciate the love fam 🙌🏿 I strongly suggest to do both if you can. The reason why I say that is because the truck insurance as mentioned in the video is going to be very expensive plus you can subsidize the income or lack thereof from starting the new Enterprise with your job. A big thing I would also pay attention to is if you're driving a dump truck you more than likely have a least a class b CDL, you can capitalize on that by getting commercial insurance getting your authority and booking loads directly off load ones. Also you have more control over your schedule but cuz you don't have to wait for somebody to break down to get a call you can pick up and drop off at your discretion via a scheduled contracted account. There's a lot to consider but I highly encourage the journey. Please reach back out to me so how everything goes 🙌🏿✌🏿

      Id rather not say the company name because I see too many people getting let go over silly stuff like this comment but it is a great company so far and no current desire to leave. But it is a big used car dealer in America. Pay is hourly, but good. allowed me to get my CDL with their truck.
      The reason I want o go out on my own is probably for the freedom. I know its not easy, but I feel like my hard work would pay off better if it was for myself rather than a large corporation. I previously worked for AAA, directly not as a contractor, and that is where I got my start. I really enjoyed the work but I did not enjoy the management style, epically after being promoted into it. I don't miss calls on the side of the interstate though that's for sure. Right now isn't the right time for me to branch out on my own due to the price of fuel and trucks epically but also the cost of land. Like you said starting out with your own lot would be a big advantage. It will be a few years, and it might never actually happen but I feel like it is an obtainable goal.

      Don't say it will never happen just make a plan map it out and stick to that plan I promise you it'll work out even if it doesn't happen exactly the way that you had anticipated at least you will find your target.
      Trust me there is no freedom literally at all 😂 to me it's worth it I love it but I will also say there's a lot of other ways to make money out here call me a lot.

We’re 95% motor clubs and it works for my business because I understand how to manipulate my rates with them and also I don’t need to live on the money the trucks earn. For instance with my current policy I paid $7k to $10k upfront ( I have to look at my records for the exact number) and let's say that was in January, my payment was due February 1st. It's crazy and every year you have to re put up a large down payment to keep your policy active with most companies. If you don't believe me ask any towing provider or call your local insurance company with the VIN number to a tow truck and ask them how much it is to get commercial insurance. There are tiers to this and it's cheaper depending on how much coverage you need of course. But yes that's just up front not for the entire 12 month policy
