I have one of those, the 4k touchscreen i7 6700HQ 16GB RAM 128GB SSD 1TB HDDRecording with stereo mix is defective (it records the bass too much), there are color and lighting change adaptations when you resize a window or tab, some pixels appear to be the wrong color when they're surrounded by other high contrast colors. Maxx auddio enhancements keep resetting to default, and the speakers, especially the bass are bad, they saturate.Otherwise, I like it a lot. I've had it for 10 months.

I reviewed this machine earlier this year. I did get the machine back for $800 on Black Friday. I have the 4k model with the quad core i7 with the gtx 960m graphics card. I will do upgrades a little later on though. 16 GB of RAM, 4 TB HDD, and 500 GB M.2 SSD.

I'm building a custom build to get the most bang for the bucks, it's a mini itx one. So my cart was having the m.2 500gb samsung, but now you made me found the mx300 which is cheaper. I'd love to see a comparison between them in real life usage (like rebooting, loading times in game, etc.). Benchmarks says its a lot slower than the samsung counterpart, but I think there could not be a markable difference between them, isn't it?
does adding the ssd and the extra ram decrease battery life? also I see you left a link to a 2.5inch sata from sandisk 960 gb, is that installed the same way as the Samsung evo 850?

It is in AHCI mode... the problem is Samsung hasn't released their updated driver for Windows 10 Anniversary yet... that should come in a few weeks...
Hey did your device suffer from backlight flicking issue that other users are experiencing?
I have the same PC and updated with the same components as your videos show. I updated all the drivers as in your other videos. My issue is when I play one 4K60P video from RUclips, my CPU goes to 95-100% usage. I don't know how to fix that. Any ideas? I can't even open up 12 videos like you have. When I purchased the PC I also at the same time purchased the upgrades and installed them. Everything checked out fine. Any help would be appreciated.

So im interested in the 4k i7 version of this laptop. It comes with a 1TB HDD, and if I can add a 500 GB SSD would it be worth it to replace the 1TB HDD with with another Samsung 500 GB SSD(SATA)? Id lose 500 GB, but will having the SSD instead of the HDD make it worthwhile?
I know I won't have a ton of games downloaded at one time so the loss of 500 GB isn't too bad. Its the price of the Samsung 500 GB SSD(SATA), which is currently at $169, that i'm apprehensive about because for that price i'm basically paying to lose space just to run it at a faster speed, right?

use a b150 or h110 to save money. z170 mobo is only worth its price when you are overclocking your cpu which you can't do with your i5-6500. use the saved money to buy a 256gb ssd instead to store your frequently used softwares and games. the 470 is good in good in 1080p
Well you can technically OC a non k CPU on a Z170 board (use Science Studio RUclips channel as confirmation), however you might as well consider a B150 or H110 motherboard if you are not considering OCing.

I have to disagree with the statement that you need 16 GB of RAM. You mentioned that its needed, and showed your utilization as confirmation, however you weren't 'just browsing the internet and watching a video'. You were browsing like 8 web pages and watching 10 HD videos. That's enough throughput for 10 people fairly easily, potentially more. I think a more accurate statement would be 16gb is needed DEPENDING on how you browse...
While most people are not going to watch a dozen HD videos... they may do other things... The RAM does get used if you multi-task or have many background programs running, which a real used laptop would have (this is a fresh demo machine so it doesn't have anything installed).
Note in my $500 laptop reviews I generally say "8GB is enough for most people, upgrading is an option", vs this where I say "everyone who buys this laptop should upgrade"
Why? Because this is a $1,000 laptop and upgrading is $30, or 3% of the price of the computer. It is a quad core top of the line CPU, if you're buying this it is to use it, so upgrade it and be happy. :)
That is my opinion anyway...
PS. Let me put this another way, if you don't need more than 8GB of RAM, I'd ask if you really need this much laptop, what are you doing that needs only 8GB of RAM, but also needs a i7-6700HQ quad core CPU?

Here's another way to see it:
Say, you've got this laptop so you can fully utilize the i7-6700HQ and the GTX 960M under load. I can almost assure you the 8 gigs of RAM will bottleneck the hell out of the system! It is always recommended to have 16Gigs in a quad core machine, since you'd really rather have spare RAM than always 90% - 100% usage. Them freezes are very annoying!
