Just got a Dell i5577 with a 1tb HDD. Bought the Samsung Evo 860 M.2 and followed this video step by step. You saved me $120+ from Geek Squad. Thank you so much for the tutorials!! Very easy install.
Thanks a lot! Just upgraded to 16gb ram and 1tb 860 ssd.
How is the performance, compared to the base specs? I just ordered the 860 evo and the ram the video recommended. I just want my 7559 to boot faster.
As someone who isn't tech savvy, but willing to open up a computer, your videos have been some of the best instructional presentations I've ever seen in any industry. Great job!
i am surprised how this video has less than 100k views. This is the best and full guide to install the SSD on this laptop.
Worked just as you say it did.....your video is probably one of the best step by step guide I ever cam across on RUclips!!
Normally I would never try to attempt something like this...but your instructions were flawless and the installation and cloning were flawless as well. Thank You!!
Just wanted to say thank you for this and earlier videos re: the 7559. They made my life so much easier as I followed along and upgraded my own new laptop to 16GB Ram & 500GB SSD. "Piece of cake".
Amazing tutorial video!!! Thanks so much. I just upped mine to 16GB of ram and added the Samsung 500 GB SSD. Simple!!!
It's like a totally new, speedy as hell laptop now!!! Thanks so very much!!!
Thank you so much! I will upgrade my Dell Inspiron 7557 with EVO 860 SATA M.2 & Hynix 8 Gigabyte Ram. Your step by step explanation is very clear and systematic. I was so happy to find that the Dell Inspiron 7557 do have a M.2 port for SSD upgrade. Once I have the dough, I'll proceed to buy it & do the upgrade all by myself.
Make another modern video of this process!!! It took me forever to find a good video like this and windows central one. Y'all both did the same computer.
Best tech videos on YT... Very good information and easy to watch. I just ordered the (new factory sealed) signature edition i7559 i7600HQ 4k for a great deal. Your videos were very helpful in the decision making process. Earned another sub!
You seems very professional in step by step content create.. Really appreciate your efforts. ...
Excellent video. Your Dell 7559 videos have been a big help. Thanks. Another area you might consider is dealing with small (tiny) print with the 4K monitor. I've resolved most of the issues I had, but it was a major hassle. Some older programs apparently can't be salvaged as they don't have any scaling capability.
This video was terrific, one of the best tutorials i have ever watched on any subject
Possibly the most detailed laptop video ! Thanks so much. It does help a lot. Have a blessed day!
Thank you!! I just purchased the Samsung Evo M.2 SSD with your advice and the install was simple with your guidance. You rock!!
"Shame on you manufacturers" lol
Man, I know how this stuff works, and I know how to do It, I didn't have to follow you in this video. Yet I did, there is something satisfying about your videos. Keep up the good work :)
I followed exactly what you said on this video. One Q - What happens if I do not do the "format" of the D drive in the very last step? Is the format only to save space? OR say, I am not too keen on saving space, does it help to have this D drive still hold windows, just in case the SSD some times crashes (perhaps then I have a backup windows image or something).
PS: Absolutely love the way you have so crisply and accurately created this video. Couldn't have asked for a better guide. Keep up the super awesome work.
Just did this with this year's model, worked like a charm. Only thing to note is I had to pull out my size 0 screwdrivers as my 1s partially stripped the screws - in fact, I had to replace the retention screw for the SSD with a similar screw from my old Thinkpad due to how easily it stripped with a 1.
As a warning to others, double check though that it's not the new model. I decided to be lazy and also buy the RAM listed in t his video so that I didn't have to look around and do compatibility research; this years model finally went with DDR4 RAM whereas last year's was DDR3 and is what's listed in the description. Fortunately Amazon has generous return policies and 8gb of RAM is enough to get by for awhile on.
Very good video, I just brought this laptop. I will be upgrading this too.
I just wanted to say that I thoroughly appreciate these videos. I found them the night I got the Dell laptop and they have been super helpful and informative. Great job and thank you! I'm loving this computer for casual use and it plays most games decently. I already installed the additional ram and am currently waiting for the crucial ssd to arrive tomorrow!
just finished fully installing my ssd! Thanks a lot. I would've had no idea how to do that without your video!
I still have this computer and the same setup…runs great. Anything I can do to make it even better today?
Thank you so much for this video. I have bought this same model laptop with FHD display instead of a 4K. All the other specs are same. And I got 16GB ram model. So dosent need to buy an another 8GB stick.
I have been using this laptop for about 1 month and i have no issues. I an planing to buy a SSD and i could find only one video explaining the cloning video. But This one is the best.
Can you do some good gaming review on this machine like you did on the i5 model. I would suggest to do Witcher 3, Quantum Break, GTA V, Battlefield, and some good games. My personal opinion is that the gaming videos need not be so long , but a medium length review will do the trick.
Thanks for all these videos
Keep rocking
Working on this right now. Currently in data migration. Going well so far!
Thanks for this video. I just bought a Dell 7559 laptop and I am going to install the M.2 SSD sometime in the next month or so. I was afraid I would have to wipe all the OS and drivers if I were to install the SSD. Not so worried about playing with my laptop now and not losing anything with the migration.
Thanks man, I have the 1080p version with the i5 and ive been needing to do the same thing to it, Thanks!
very detailed description. glad to see your subscribers growing so fast.
Great Video. I'm upgrading my Dell 7577 with an 860 evo 500gb as I write. Migration of 141GB from HDD to SSD is only 75% complete after 75 minutes! Maybe my lower spec of 8gb Ram and i5 processor is holding things up!
And also I think HDD read speed is low, probably that's the reaon it was slow.
Very good video! I dont always comment but this is full of details. thanks
Congrats man, u got a new subscriber. Thanks for your i7559 vids!!!
Great video! You are a natural teacher and your video's are so well done. Thank you.
Can you do a video about static electric damage? And if possible, do a video about what not to do when building a new rog.
What PC do you edit with? Awesome video! Thanks!
Thank you this video is exactly what I was looking for
Marco S how much ssd does this laptop support? Up to what gb does it support?
Tech Deals I would like you to do a video explaining the difference between the different companies M.2 SSD. No one has explained this yet. Same specs so whats different? And a question you may be able to answer now is which one is better and why? Thank you!
Just purchased this unit from Costco online for 799.99! Great review, have you done any cleaning on the installed cooling fan assy? Looks like they could be removed from case for cleaning? Thanks Michael
LOL! The 2 big holes does not hold the screen on smh! They are the lower cradle hold down screws. I have had every last screw out of this machine. Replacing the TIM on the CPU and GPU with liquid metal, put a 1TB 2.5" SSD in to replace the mechanical drive, also modded the heat pipe to prevent thermal throttling of the cpu during gaming. Much can be done to improve this laptop. And just not knowing even what certain things are for the machine probably shouldn't even say anything about them.
Thank you very much, my friend! You're a very didactic! Really nice video, good cam and good audio! Helped me a lot! Keep the good work! Already subscribed and up voted!
One of my friends who had gotten two 1TB Samsung 850 EVOs on Thanksgiving was having trouble cloning Windows to them from other drives. They wouldn't boot, and he ended up taking them back. (He's not much of a computer expert at all.)
Usually I prefer not running the operating system that's on the drive I'm cloning, when I clone. I boot Linux on a USB key (or SD card or DVD), then use gparted to clone the one drive to the other. (There's a bit of trickery that has to be done when shrinking is necessary, though.) Another option is Clonezilla, which basically boots on its own, as well as other tools that are used when the main OS is offline.
Loving your vids. Keep it up.
One question...
Why didn't you merge the recovery partition on the HDD with the main partition to reclaim that extra space?
Because Windows won't actually do it... You have to use a third party tool, sadly... Computer Management won't delete the small partitions... (at least I've never gotten it to)
www.paragon-software.com/home/pm-express/
The free version of that will do it, but it makes the video much longer... For most people, the half a gigabyte is probably not worth the trouble...
You can use diskpart to clean the drive and get all the space on the drive.
I did the same exact process as you with the same laptop and same exact SSD I noticed after I was done with everything I lost about 12GB of space from my hard drive after formatting it, so why did this happen and am I able to restore them?
Lovely video! Dell had recommended Dell 1TB Class 20 SSD SATA 2.5in Drive as possible replacement for my Hard drive that came with my Inspiron 7559, and I am wondering which is better considering the cost for your solution and advise from Dell support? Please kindly advice on this.
Awesome tut. Followed the steps and it was working great. However I have
a question. After I did this I kept getting the dreaded "Automatic
Repair" Screen and couldn't figure out why. I removed all my items from
my computer, which was not much since it's also a new. Still had the
problem. Restarted back to Factory setting it vanished no more Auto
repair. Then I did the steps all over again and it happened again. I
kept blaming a program but even if I removed it, it came coming back.
Finally I just didn't do the cloning and it hasn't shown up. Would you happen to know why this is the case. Still it was a great tutorial too bad I couldn't get to work to my satisfaction.
Very good tech reviewer. Keep it up! Subscribed!
Great video but you have to slow down and give more information on what your clicking. I think both installs were successful
Hey man, love your videos. I just got this laptop and I want to purchase the Samsung version of the SSD. What is it called?? I don't want to get the wrong one. Thanks!
i am a computer illiterate who followed this video to a T in December 2016 with the purchase of my new i7559, and this video presentation is everything. thank you so much.
6 weeks of light use and this week my new PC wouldnt start. called dell, 3 hours of phone support, had to do a complete windows reinstall on C:, (lost all data, doc and photos but I have backup).
no one really knows what happened, but as of now file explorer can't recognize D: ; it shows up in bios
seems windows still exists on SSD because it takes computer ten minutes to unconfuse itself and start up - unless i remove the SSD card, which i did, and startup from C: drive is fast (not as fast as from SSD). is the SSD salvageable? what is the problem? can i wipe out the card and start fresh? how would that happen? how do I get things back the way they were?
Hi Tech Deals, is doing all these upgrades to this laptop at this moment still worth it to make it faster, or would you recommend just upgrading to a newer laptop?
i hope you grow son i'm here for support :)
nice video ... can i put in Samsung 960 Pro?
Thanks so much! Great job and wonderful explanation!!
I did everything outlined in this video and after a weak of it working fine now I get the bsod and all graphics, bios and driver updates are not fixing it.Its the Nvidia graphics drivers that seem to case the issue. HELP ME I SPENT SO MUCH ON THIS BUILD!
Hi Tech Deals,
I got this laptop and have just installed a Crucial MX300 275GB. I also just did a clone with Acronis. My laptop rebooted and couldn't boot into windows. I hard-reset the laptop and got into BIOS to check the Boot options. It shows 2 Windows Boot Manager without showing any name of the drives/hardwares. I tried interchanging the boot priority then successfully boot into Windows but I don't know which drive it booted it. (It was quick).
EDIT 1: I checked and it only booted from the original HDD. Apparently, Acronis does not wipe the HDD (or make it inactive) like Samsung Migration after cloning.
EDIT 2: My clone was complete. The 2 drives are exactly the same in Disk Management but on my HDD, it shows (boot, dump, primary, etc..) but on my SSD, it only shows (primary..).
EDIT 3: I tried re-cloning, checked the bios but it won't boot from the SSD (Crucial MX300 275GB). It'd boot pass the Windows logo then just black screen (Mouse does work but it would only show the loading-circle)
Please help. I could totally get a Samsung SSD but I am kind of in a rush to give this Laptop to a friend. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I finally got a 250GB Samsung M.2 SSD from MicroCenter and replaced it with the Crucial one. Ran Samsung Migration. Everything works flawlessly. Conclusion: Samsung provides better software than Crucial.
Amazing video. I have the 1080p version with i5 and i'd like to know if i can install SSD M2 Sata 1TB for any manufacture instead Samsung or Crucial coz i cannot find them.
I have the same model and was hoping you can answer some questions. I'd like to get the 2.5 SSD because they're less and you said the performance is the same, so can you tell which 2.5 Samsung SSD I should get because there seems to be a lot of them too? When using the SSD cloning software, is this model, the Dell 7559, one of those Dells you said will only work properly with Samsung's software? What type of ram do I need to get to add 8gb of ram to my existing 8gb of ram? What is the maximin ram capacity of this model? And although I have an idea, I wanted to ask why you why you think the newer, faster MVME M.2 SSD are less expensive than the older, slower SATA M.2 because, at face value, this doesn't seem to make any sense? I know this may not have been the case when you made this video, but it is now. Actually, last I checked, the more expensive MVME you mentioned is on sale for around $59, whereas Evo 850 is even more now than when this video was made. This is an older video that you might not get around to responding to, so I might post this same thing on one of your newer but maybe unrelated videos. Thanks.
when you try to clone
Always good video's :) ps. i got my thumbdrive windows thing to work because of your vid :D have it ready now for thurstday when i get the parts and build my pc :)
Is the 860 EVO a direct replacement of the 850? I can get the 860 for a bit cheaper than the 850 in the 1GB size. Thanks. Also, can you do a video on upgrading the 128Gb boot SSD to a larger drive?
Hi! great video. Just one question. I installed that m2 ssd on my dell. But also I bought 1tb ssd 2.5" . How do you recommend to organice my files? I mean SO, System Files, Personal Multimedia data, Software ecc. Which ssd is faster? Thanks!
Great video mate, i'd like to know if is possible to transfer the OS that is in my 128GB Kingston SSD to a Samsung 1TB SSD , Please?.
Can you please make a video on how to install Samsung evo 960 to Dell Inspiron 7567, plss
The presenter did mention that NVMe EVO / PRO 960 EVO / PRO 970 would not work in the Dell Inspiron Laptops, as the motherboard cannot accept NVMe. I also noticed that DELL don't seems to have a bios upgrade for Inspiron 7557, a old laptop which I gotten back in end of 2015. Thus, go for the 6Gbps or SATA III M.2 versions of SSD like EVO / PRO 850 / 860 to upgrade your old Dell Inspiron 7567.
Will 860 Evo work for this system
Amazing explanation and amazing video.
Excellent tutorial. Thanks
Hai I have watched all your videos and you are very informative, what is the maximum amount of m.2 ssd I can install, I thought of buying 1 TB Samsung 850 evo m.2 ssd. Will it be compatible with this laptop. Thanks in advance
hi, is is working? 1tb ? ( i have dell 7559 also)
Wonderful video. I have same question as Cezar. Thanks!!!!
First :D
Can tell it's gonna be a good video allready!
Love ur channel
thanks for help teach deal it's work perfectly
Very good! Thank you very much for your video! Cheers
please make a video of instaling ssd to inspiron 7567 and clone it
When it comes to desktop where space is not an issue, is it better to buy SATA SSD or M.2 SSD? Is there any downside to M.2 SSD? I am right now looking buy 500GB 850 EVO SSD and there is very little price difference between SATA and M.2. Thank you answering
Excellent video, thank you!
Hello, I want to purchase an SSD for my dell inspiron (same model as what you reviewed in the video).
Is this SSD still recommend or there are newer better options? Thank you for your response :D
Very useful, thank you.
Excuse me, how will I migrate/clone if I have more more GB stored in my C-Drive than the space in the SSD? Thank you for your time, sir!
If I have used this machine for a few months and I have all my programs/preferences set already, would the transfer to the SSD require me to configure all these things again or would shortcuts still point to correct programs etc? I would preferably transfer my actual data to an external HDD and then copy the Windows files to the SSD. Additionally, how would I partition the HDD (as it currently stands) to have two partitions: the OS and my data files? Thanks in advance for a reply.
Very very nice videos! Nice job.
hey nice videos , i have a question for you man what do you think about the Corsair ssd LE series i was thunking of buying one but i wanted to know if they are a good option to go for
I haven't used one yet, so I can't really comment on it, but they "seem" nice...
1000 Likes from me! Thank you for this great Video! Greetings from Germany
Can we use 860 evo m.2 in this laptop . Thank for answer
I will ask a question that a couple of other people also seem to have. How do I upgrade to a 500GB Samsung M.2 SSD from the 250GB M.2 that I currently have?
The versions you have talked about on this laptop is not the one I'm getting, I'm plan on getting the 2512BLK version that has i7, no 4K, 1TB Hdd, an plan on doing the upgrade in the video
Am I making a good choice?
(I can't take you as serious as I want to because you're using IE)
Nvme isnt supported? Are you sure about this cause ive come across acouple posts that say theyre currently running 960, 970 pro with no problems.
I ask because ive got a 970 eco pro plus coming in and I just watched your vid, a little worried it might not work now
JoebWalks did it work? Please reply back. Thanks!
Hey! I bought the 2017 version of this one, the 7567. Are RAM and SSD install processes the same? Thanks, in advance!!
Hello Tech deal I'm looking to buy a Dell 7559 4k screen 6700HQ but it only have 960m graphics card. Do you think it's better to buy a gtx 1060 laptop. Msi have it in their line up, also acer predator 17 are on sale right now. I don't know if I should buy those instead of Dell 7559. I know Dell have 4k screen with is good for my 4k video editing. Btw. I'm looking to buy a laptop for 4k video editing capabilities
This helped me a lot thanks!!
Thank you you made it easy!
I have a Dell Inspiron 7559(same as the one used in video) & my primary hard drive is corrupt. So I'm starting new whether I can buy a m.2 SSD or SATA iii SSD(which is better as only primary drive) . I don't require a HDD. Obviously performance prioritized. Help..!
a perfect channel god luk
hello good sir, I just found this video and I am wondering, if this will be the same process if I were to put a samsung 960 evo on my dell 7567? because I haven't found any helpful how-to tutorial videos on those specific hardware I mentioned or anything helpful in the web in general even the dell forums.
Good information, thanks
Can I also do this exact SSD/process on the new Dell 7569 or does it have different options?
I did the same exact process as you with the same laptop and same exact SSD I noticed after I was done with everything I lost about 12GB of space from my hard drive after formatting it, so why did this happen and am I able to restore them?
Do you have any info on now replacing the HHD with a SSD ? is it possible???
Can we get rid of the partitions on the old drive? That bugs me having them there.
If I clone everything to the ssd, what would happen to the recovery partition? It would clone too? And if I run it, would be using the ssd or the hard drive?
Would you still recommend buying this today? Or should I just wait for a gtx 1060 version?
GTX 1060 versions exists, for $700 more! :)
I'll have a GTX 1060 reviewed shortly, it is sitting on my shelf right now, but keep in mind that you're paying for it...
Hi, I’ve a stupid question that annoy me really wrong.
My OS is installed in my current 120GB SSD. I’m planning to upgrade it to 500GB. Can I know what should I do to migrate the OS from old SSD to a new SSD?
Great video. Keep it up!
What to do if after the data migration, it's not automatically changed to SSD?
Disk 0 is still C for me and Disk 1 is SSD.
I've tried to change the default Boot option from Bios as well, but the SSD is not showing up as Boot version
I am having nearly 800gb of files in my hdd. I am gonna purchase 970evo 250 gb for dell 5577 india laptop. My question is whether the cloned version of windows is original and should i need to uninstall all the programs while cloning?
so the battery is built in? can it be removed while i use the laptop with just the power cord ?
