    Girlllll I applaud you for admitting that natural hair is not for u and knowing what works best for u. Seem like everybody is natural now and even so alot of my friends suffer from heat damage because they want natural hair but they keep flat ironing their hair. Healthy hair is best! !!!!!

      girl its sad that you sometimes have to broadcast how you feel to keep the ignorant people away. And yeah i noticed that a while back too that most of the women i watched at the beginning of my hair growth journey is now natural. but i support their decision but I'm kool with relaxed lol #always yes ma'am healthy hair should be the overall goal.. thanks for watching baby XO

    Yes! Thank you for saying "natural hair isn't for everybody" I can't do natural. My hair doesn't grow, it's always dry no matter how much I moisterize, it sheds so much and I just don't have time. My momma kept my hair relaxed as a child and my hair was super long. She only used olive oil and pink hair lotion from beauty supply. People give me crap for transitioning back to relaxed but idgaf.

    My hair grow like weed because I eat fresh fruits, veg beans have a lot of protein in there and of course drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep your hair will see the difference if you don't take care of the inside then the outside will not give you the glow and shine and the growth . But great advice 😍😍😍

    seriously I love you for saying that being natural is workkkkkk and not all of us are interested. the constant pressure from people with their opinions is annoying me to no end. to each his or her own. and if one more person at the salon tells me if I don't love my curls I don't love my color. uggggghhhhh angers me. so glad I'm not alone.

      It is a lot of work but mine grows like wildfire when I'm natural. However, I don't have time for all that work. I mildly relax mine every 3 months or so. My hair grows a lot in the summer. Sometimes, I think of going back to natural, but then I quickly snap out of it...lol.

Relaxers are "creamy crack" for me lol. Thank you so much for making these videos on relaxed hair. My whole family have thin edges. My sister and I had the thin edges for years. There was no product that grew them back full. But now we both have full edges and the thin edge saga has ended. Our edges are thick and full. The first thing is if you are relaxing start from the back and apply the relaxer to the edges last. My sister has gone totally natural and that restored her edges. Me: When I was relaxed I didn't always apply the relaxer to my edges just the rest of the hair...now I am natural. Edges are restored. I mean we spent most of our adolescent years and most adult life when thin to bald edges. That has cease and it was hereditary too.

    I hear you about the natural hair..I did it for a year and went back to relaxers. The detangling process was a nightmare and i was mean and evil during that time..nice video

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 9 лет назад

      Lol I went natural twice in a 4 year period. I was evil and mean and frustrated too. The high humidity had me constantly battling my hair. I texlaxed and it has been heaven since.

    • @diordiva
      @diordiva 9 лет назад +1

      Bre B. I may do the tex lax..did you mean that you did this twice a year or the relaxers?

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 9 лет назад

      I use a mild relaxer to "texlax" my hair. I do that twice a year...texlaxing is simply leaving some texture (wave/curl) in your hair instead of relaxing it bone straight. Some women don't smooth at all to avoid having bone straight hair, and that is basically what I do. I just smooth a very little using my fingers (gloves on) instead of using a brush or sprush...if I use a brush I am asking for bone straight hair. Try it! Lots of blogs talk about texlaxing.

    • @diordiva
      @diordiva 9 лет назад +1

      Bre B. ok thanks i might try it. i do not care so much about the straightness i just want to pull that comb through..lol...my hair grows so fast i may not make it twice a year

    I've been natural for almost 2 years and I cannot deal. My hair and thick and curly, but the Houston weather ruins my natural styles. I'm about to perm my hair tomorrow, just because I watched your video! Thank you so much!

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 9 лет назад +1

      I know what you mean. I live in SC, and I was natural twice in NC. The humidity had me spending 3 hours blow drying and flat-ironing, only for it to begin reverting as soon as I stepped outside. I used good products and tools too. Plus, the 45 minute detangling process after washing was too much work for me. My hair was only a TWA and it took that long to detangle. It is 3C fine naturally. I can detangle my past hip length relaxed hair at 6 months post relaxer faster than that! So I feel you on the struggle! :)

      That African Pride with Ginseng is the truth! I have used that off and on for years. Olive oil can make your hair heavy and crunchy...I just add a little to conditioner but I don't add it to my hair straight unless it is mixed with an oil my hair likes, like grapeseed.

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 9 лет назад

      Lol at your comment. I have been natural twice as an adult and BC'd both times. Too much WORK. I don't have to do a whole lot to my relaxed hair for it to remain healthy, whereas when I was natural I was constantly battling mats, splits, and those single strand knots. I texlaxed and I was not going back. It would be nice "in theory" to be all natural, but not with my lifestyle and not with this head. Broke combs off in it while relaxed, so imagine natural!

    • @love_nettab3175
      @love_nettab3175 9 лет назад +1

      It's soooo much work for me to be 100% natural. I had those same struggles x's 10 because I have a very coarse grade of hair. I think at least once a year I think about it again but my eye twitches at the thought and I just don't. It's getting back to a healthier place but my twitching eye won't let me go back.

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 9 лет назад

      You made me laugh about the eye twitching! I think about it every now and then too, but I had too many knots and tangles. My natural hair is fine but there is a lot of it. I HATED struggling to make it "lie down" especially if I just had to be somewhere quickly. It's like I had to plan an extra hour of prep time in getting dressed just in case my hair wouldn't act right. And wearing wigs in summer in the south I just cannot do. I'm sticking with the mild relaxer I have. I thought about locs too, but I know I would get tired of them and want free flowing hair sooner or later.

    • @love_nettab3175

    Good video my sister fyi never microwave your coconut oil it saps nutrients just set it on a warm stove for a few or set it in a pot of warm water. ❤❤❤❤

      YES! No natural oil should EVER be microwaved. Microwaves are radiation, and by warming it, even for a few seconds, all the vitamins and nutrients are depleted.

    I so respect this video; And I'm Natural!! We all really should do what works for us, and not try and follow behind others; trying to fit in. Yes, Being Natural is Work on top of Work, however, I agree with you; everyone's different. Thank You For The Share.

    I'm relaxed and I try to wait at least six weeks before my next one sometimes longer BC of funds.. but recently I started using olive oil to moisturize my scalp and hair because the blue magic coconut oil hair moisturizer I use , my scalp sucks it UP SO FAST,ever since then my hair is softer and manageable. I just am going to give my hair a break tommorow

      Kamrie Johnson i am familiar with the blue magic coconut oil and i implore you to discontinue using it. it has a Vaseline base, which coats the hair and prevents nutrients from penetrating the stencil of your hair. you can get regular coconut oil from almost any grocery store. i would hate for you to fall victim to grease which is what most blue magic products are. not trying to lecture, and i hope this helps.

    Because I have somewhat flat hair I wanted to thicken it up a bit as well as my edges and so what I did was incorporate a vitamin called Biotin and it does work. Made my hair a lot fuller. And I co-wash my hair too with V05 products bc it contains biotin in it as well as other vitamins. U may wanna give biotin a try to see if it will thicken up your hair, but beware of the other parts of your body that has hair because that will grown in as well too lolz

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 9 лет назад

      Collagen (Types 1&3) by Neocell helped me thicken my fine relaxed hair after a major postpartum shed. It is reasonably priced and is available in pill or powder form. I have taken biotin for years. It helps! MSM and bamboo silica are also great for thickening and increasing volume of new hair that is growing in.

    have you considered aloe vera gel or aloe vera juice for a natural moisturizer? it works well with my castor oil/coconut oil/olive oil mix.
    thanks for the vid! I'm giving this natural hair 2 yrs and it's back to a relaxer next summer if this regimen doesn't get any easier.

    Amen! It seems like every where you turn. There's natural this and natural that. The NATURAL movement of some sort. Like.. i just don't see the big deal. Yes relaxers are chemically harmful but if you take good care of your hair it will grow regardless.i believe in texlaxed in and not relaxing bone str8 and I only relax once a year or twice maximum.

    I agree about the oils. I use coconut, jojoba and JBCO. I love JBCO but i hate the smell. Anyway, do what suits you best. Natural hair doesnt solve all hair woes. I love natural hair but it's work for me, too. My hair is dense w/a relaxer even. Im a Texan; I love big hair but shit - theres a limit! LOL I draw the line @ texlaxed and i can barely handle that. My arms tire out from the detangling and im just APL. I don't know how long haired naturals deal with it. I was literally fighting with my hair every morning. A lot of ppl dont want to admit that natural hair is an uphill battle, due to the steep learning curve. It is though. I never had a problem with relaxers but natural hair is too high maintenence...for me.

    I am a black female marine and I have to wear my hair in a bun everyday. Its really stressful on my edges and i just bought the jamaican black castor oil to try it out. My only worry is that I wash my hair 3 times a week to get all the gel out and the oil wont work cause i would be washing it out constantly.

    How many times per week should I do the reignment to my hair. Also is this safe for my 4 yr old grand daughter? My hair breaks each time i comb it. Is that normal? I always had long hair until most of my young adult life i kept cutting it short. Im letting it grow back, its a slow process, i therefore want to boost it up to grow faster.

I'm mean, how can I even style my hair after all those oils being in it without it being a big oily mess? I'm natural but I think I'm about to go back to relaxed hair but I wanna get a good regimen idea down before I do. & how often do you cut your ends?
