  • My latest Starfield ship build is a cargo-hauling automated fortress that can effortlessly defend itself, even against several ships. It's the perfect ship for when you want to haul a bunch of cargo through hostile territory without putting down your sandwich. It also has an excellent interior, with no ladders connecting the 2 main decks, a Captain's Quarters, and every workbench. The upper levels are mostly for your crew, so you don't have to climb any ladders if you don't want to.
    It's a Class C ship and it uses high end components, so you will need rank 4 of piloting and ship design in order to build it. You will also need to be level 60, and should have completed the quest "All That Money Can Buy" diplomatically before building this... but if you just like the look, you may be able to build something visually similar without all of the requirements... that, I leave up to you.

    You had me at "Cargo Fortress." As a builder, my own personal taste makes me shy away from Taiyo parts- I just really don't like the way the habs look from the exterior. I could totally get down with this build though, the separated pattern of the habs blends so well with the Cabot bridge and the hopetech gear down below. Excellent work, I may give this one a go!

    There is also a SAL 6330. I did not hear you mention it. These SAL's are available at Stroud Staryard on the Narion system, depending on skill levels and whether a player has unlocked the SAL 6830's. The 6330's are great too, but because the maneuvering thrust is lower the mass of the ship might have to be lower to still have the prized 100 mobility.
    I don't worry about the cost because earning 10 million creds a week by taking over ships in space and selling them is fairly easy.

    You’re right about not needing to move around much to win. With perks you can take cargo up to 13k and still have 50+ mobility.

      Yeah this ship has so many turrets it wouldn't matter if you added more cargo and lowered the mobility... the biggest issue is that doing so would reduce the jump range.

    So there is a very close engine that doesn't require All that money can buy diplomatically. It's a little heavier, with less maneuverability.

      It's pretty strange that 7000 kilos of cargo will end up in a tiny cargo bay if you switch ships... I guess they thought it was better than the alternatives.
      Anything that you leave in storage crates or boxes inside the ship seems to stay where you put it... Not so for the cargo holds, though.

      @@allensproject Yea it just drives me nuts. I wanted to have a fighter and a cargo ship for outposts, bethesda pretty much kills the advantage of even having a cargo ship or fighter, unless you want to constantly empty it out. I was hoping they would fix it but they also show t hey are much more concerned about a player possibly glitching to give themselves money in a single player game than fixing some of the game breaking bugs, let along adding functionality. Sorry, I didnt mean to run off the rails like that, I just feel like Bethesda never listens to players any more. Its a shame because I really love this game.

    The switchable landing gear has a thrust of 4 yet you switched to adding the additional landing thrusters to ones that have thrust if 2 each. That really does not make sense especially as the ones with 2 thrust when doubled have more mass. What's the thought behind it?
    I do generally like the design idea however the vertically of the ship I'm not sure is worth the mass of the 1x1 and vertical spacers plus the viewing ports. My only real objection is a styleistic one and thats with the Tyio look. Seems it's a fav of a lot of the shipbuilders so being an old fart and generally contrarian by nature with style ... LoL... It's all me.
    I'll probably end up in my testing account recreating the core of the build as you did it (without the Style ekements) then see it agzin reducing the vertical element.
    I strongly suggest once folks in playthrough get to level 60+ create a save file that has modified character ( so no mixups) and thrn use it to test builds .... Best move i ever made. So much so have 1 that is starter, one at lv12, lv21, lv40 and the one at lv60.
    Love the vids, keep it up

    • @allensproject

      I don't generally recommend switching the two NG-20 gear out for Stroud gear and adding extra gear on the side... Not only does it have a higher mass with the additional gear, the ng-20 gear have much better hull strength.
      I was just pointing out options in case someone forgot to buy the gear or was trying to build something similar at low levels or without all the perks...
      Good idea on keeping multiple saves... I do the same thing myself. I designed this build on an alternate save so that I could build it quickly for this video.

    interesting. never thought about pointing my turrets backwards. always thought they would just face and shoot which ever direction the bad ships are coming from. will have to try since i am having difficulty in multiship combat

    • @allensproject
      @allensproject  8 месяцев назад +1

      They seem to have a firing arc that is somewhere around 45 degrees in each direction... maybe more like 50 degrees to the side, because on occasion I saw my rear facing turrets and my side facing turrets shooting at the same target... Not sure about the exact number, and they don't seem to aim as far 'down' towards their base (which could be up, if they are upside down) as they do to the sides or up... But I think they might be able to aim down more than the physical turret model shows...
      I basically aimed them backwards so I could just run away from everyone when I am hauling cargo back from my mining and manufacturing outpost, without needing to grav jump to safety.
      If you are actively trying to destroy enemies, you might want to face 1 or 2 forwards as opposed to facing them all to the back and sides.
      I wish they had a firing arc that respected your own ship's geometry, but unfortunately that isn't the case... They can shoot right through your ship, but won't rotate to face forwards.

      They are separate, and the things you leave in the crates will even stay in the crates if you switch home ships... They will get moved to the cargo hold if you make any modifications to your ship, though. This includes trivial modifications such as painting something.

      @@evanleezs if you switch from a ship with a massive cargo hold full of 7k cargo to a ship that only has a few hundred cargo, there isn't any penalty to the smaller ship - it's kind of crazy. You just can't add anything to your cargo hold until you get back below the allowed amount - this means no looting of destroyed ships.

    the ship looks fantastic. I just wish creators wouldn't leave steps out, eg. what landing bay did you attach at new homestead in order to fly the temporary ship to neon - as neither of the options at new homestead seem to fit well, after 20 mins of scratching my head I'm about to give up.[edit] nvm, figured it out

    • @allensproject
      @allensproject  8 месяцев назад

      I didn't change the landing bay at New Homestead, I just left the one that came with the ship that was getting rebuilt in place. It doesn't need to fit well, just good enough that the game will let you save. All you need to do at New Homestead is buy the parts that your outpost ship builder won't sell... Of course, the only way to do that is by attaching them to your ship - but it doesn't matter how it looks, you just need to be able to save. I can't really tell you exactly how to do that because I don't know what ship you are building it out of...
      If you can't find a way to attach the cockpit and cross passages, you might be able to use a 1x1 hab as a spacer... You might also need to do that for your docker if you are getting an error... But I didn't have to buy anything extra for the ship I flew from new homestead to my outpost shipbuilder (which happened to be a Rambler II because I couldn't find a cheaper ship such as a Rambler or Discovery for sale)... There's probably a way to attach the needed parts without needing to change the landing bay at all.
      Btw I didn't go to neon immediately after new homestead, I went to my outpost ship builder because it had the best overall parts selection... you can fly your ship from your outpost shipbuilder to neon with whatever engine it came with and then buy the 6 big engines that might be hard to slap on your ship beforehand (due to how Large they are and the fact that they only have attachment points on the front) It's only for one trip so it doesn't matter if it has 0 mobility.

    Ships should have unlimted cargo in the captains locker.

    • @allensproject
      @allensproject  8 месяцев назад +1

      I think Bethesda just wanted to give cargo ships a reason to exist...
      That being said, I think the game would be less tedious and more fun if every storage area held like 5 times as much as they currently do.
      If the outpost resource containers had the same effect applied, cargo ships would still have a place because you might have a massive amount of resources to sell.

    Got a question - If you steal a ship, Ecliptic Claymore III is my donor of choice, Can I sell it to a vendor and then rebuy it to "Wash It" if you will
    to prevent the bugs? I have not seen anyone anywhere ask or answer this. Can you? Facts only - Opinions don't count.

    • @allensproject
      @allensproject  8 месяцев назад +2

      I once tried to buy back a modified ship that I sold after it had turned invisible, and it was still invisible after I bought it. So it definitely doesn't fix every bug.
      Can't say for sure if it does any good if you sell and rebuy it before bugs occur.
      I'm not sure if that would be any cheaper overall than just buying the cheapest new ship, though. I bought a new Discovery class ship on Titan and it was so cheap that I didn't feel bad about scrapping it entirely.

    What ship did you start with?

    • @allensproject
      @allensproject  8 месяцев назад +2

      I just bought the cheapest one I could find, and then went to New Homestead on Saturn's moon Titan and attached the various nova galactic parts I would need to that.
      I used a Rambler II because I couldn't find anything cheaper, but the Discovery is actually a cheaper ship and they sell that in New Homestead... But I had already purchased that for another build and they hadn't restocked it, so I got a Rambler II - from New Atlantis I think...
      It might be cheaper to start with a stolen ship that shares a few parts, like the Ecliptic Claymore II, but there are more bugs with stolen ships than with purchased ships for some reason, and I didn't want to deal with that for such an expensive build.

    You kept saying “already purchased” when talking ship parts..I thought you had to go to each place for stuff not available in ship builder. Can you pre-purchase stuff?

    • @allensproject
      @allensproject  8 месяцев назад +2

      I purchased them from other locations and attached them to the ship that I was going to use to build this one out of.
      You can't pre-purchase stuff and send it to a warehouse or anything like that... You have to attach it to your ship. It also has to be the ship you're going to build your new ship out of, as you can't transfer parts from one ship to another.
      You can however, delete your entire old ship while at your shipbuilder, and as long as you don't exit the ship builder you will be able to find all of the parts that you deleted and add them to your ship again. If your shipbuilder doesn't sell the part, you can only get however many copies you originally had attached to your ship...

    No offence, mate. But in terms of ship building, max. Crew is 13 (even though max. number of actual crew members as of now is 8).

    • @allensproject
      @allensproject  8 месяцев назад +2

      That's irrelevant, as you can't actually assign that many... Since you can only assign 8 with max skills, you only need to get to 8 to allow max crew. Technically, the max number of crew members is at least 9 though, since Sarah Morgan seems to not take a crew slot if she is assigned last... But your ship doesn't need a 9th crew slot in order to assign her as a 9th, so this ship still allows max crew.
      You can easily switch a computer core for a control station if you want to increase the displayed crew count in the UI... But that doesn't help you increase your crew assignments in any way, so I didn't do it.
      Maybe they will allow more crew with DLC, but hopefully they add more ship modules at that point, and then we will have to rebuild our ships anyways if we want to keep them optimized.
