Drowned Scout Truck Rescue? | Snow Runner Career | Episode 8 - Michigan
Another fun episode, and thanks for the shout out. If you have seen my latest mis-adventures, then you have nothing to worry about playing HARD mode. =)
Thanks, and sure thing about the shout out! OLP was saying you had some challenges in your latest episode, yes. I'm catching up, can't wait. :)
Aww man! I was hoping this quest gave you a new scout truck! Lol
You can get a scout truck on this map though. :)
@@ZillaBlitz yes! I found the Scout 800. Also in the next Michigan map you get an additional ck1500!
Haha, you reminded me of myself when playing this last week. I would set off full of enthusiasm , but within 2 minutes I was up to the axels in mud without a winch point, haha. Good rescue.
Haha! Yeah, it's just like my real life. Start out the day full of enthusiasm and then, there I am, working till 9pm. :)
@@ZillaBlitz Haha. I am only a few days into the game, great game, but so difficult with basic trucks and little money.
Yes, once you get some money and a few of the upgrades it'll get a good bit easier.
The shortcut to the warehouse is here:
1) Turn left out of the starting position (like you did).
2) When you get to the edge of the building there is a big rock in front of you. Drive to the *right* of that rock up the hill. There's a gap between that rock and the big trees where the only thing in your way will be a small tree which you can drive over.
Oh, cool! Thanks, I see it on the video. I will try this next time, much appreciated, Bridger! :)
@@ZillaBlitz You can also zoom out the view to see more before driving. This will help you see the path between the trees and the rock. The shortcut helps to skip the mud section.
Finally grabbed the scout truck from the mud bank, excellent effort and a couple of rock slides removed, the upgrade seemed somewhat disappointing after getting there. Excellent entertainment.
Yeah, another day, a bit more progress. I'm excited to see if we can finish up the first area and then start exploring the second area. And there are tons of areas to explore. :)
wow this was exactly what I needed. I had no idea how to do it. Thank you. Pull the scout pickup out. I was sending truck with service mount on it there and I failed. LOL
Glad it helped, safe trucking!
That was some sneaky use of the winch to rescue that drowned truck!
Apparently I can turn on the engine on the truck we are pulling to help out even more, but I didn't realize that at the time. But glad to get one of these out. :)
What's the legit way if the winch is sneaky?
I can already tell you're getting much better at the routine driving tasks.
Thanks! It's starting to feel a bit more comfortable, yes. I feel like a bit part of this is reading the terrain and understanding what your vehicles can and can't do. I imagine when it gets wetter and/or snowier it'll be a whole new level of challenge, but hoping to keep making progress. :)
I just started playing on hardcore mode to get the pain/joy of profit/loss … I played about 1/2 of Michigan first to understand mechanics better. Like using winches in creative ways (like you did to move the drowned scout intermittently to slog through the mud).
Yes, you can get that scout out with the starter CK1500 without upgrading it … except for putting all terrain tires on first but not the raised suspension or engine upgrade. The key for me was breaking that first section of fence first and also using those logs / downed trees for winching to get back out.
With the fence out I came in with speed and (SPOILER) I used the drowned scout to winch to target zone else I couldn’t activate the task. I pulled the scout out in normal w/o realizing player must activate at the target zones of tasks to get the turn-in.
I will check out your hardcore play, too. Like your style!
Thanks for all the tips and ideas, these are great! Much appreciated, and I'm glad you're liking the videos. I really should get back to this, it's been such fun playing the game. At the time the videos weren't getting a lot of interest, probably because they are different from what I usually post, but over time they seem to be liked, so maybe it's time to restart this. :)
I was really expecting the game to make you manually remove the rock slide! Well done for getting that one out of the swamp! 18:10 ha, that’s a tree Zilla! 😂
This was definitely a productive episode, yes! I felt like we got WORK DONE. And yeah, hitting that tree was not one of my gameplay shining moments. :)
I saw nothing....lol Congrats on the scout. Great episode.
Thanks! It was great to finally get that out. :)
Hard mode is alot more challenging and enjoyable imo. I think you should transition as soon as possible even if u are new to the game. Love watching u experience the game.
Thanks! I'll have to take a closer look at it. I read something about tasks not showing up on the map, or something like that? That made me think that it'd involve a lot more driving around and looking for things that I'd forgotten the location of, but maybe that's not such a big deal?
@@ZillaBlitz that is true for some missions that only the general area is highlighted and u have to spot the actual mission trailer but its not that hard usually. It's alot tougher to make money so it forces you to play more carefully and adds a much needed challenge to the game imo. Hope to see you back in the mud shortly! :)
@@jafsterlordbib Thanks! I've been thinking to switch to hard mode, tbh. That'd change the way I've been playing a good bit, but it might be fun to try. :)
I am sure we will all have a blast watching your struggles in that case. 😀
Finally jumped on this game very late to the party. Sooo I ran into this mission. I went for it using the scout as well. Lucky for me I just raised it and slapped on Mudd tires so I went to the back of it (now I see the front is easier), hooked it up and fought that shit out first try .. took about 20mins. Get back to the shop trying to figure out what to do with it. Feeling half accomplished I figured I'll watch someone else do it and see what they did. Now I see I never activated the mission so I guess I'll go do it again lmao. Thanks nice work, I also did the winch and let go technique. Mudd is a nightmare
Haha! I can totally relate to this. I've done the "not activated" thing quite a bit in the beginning. Fun game, sounds like you're enjoying it!
Another good one Zilla. Love the hat, Go TEXANS! :P
Thanks, Fightin' Farmer! :)
Some upgrade locations are "secret" they wont pop up on the map but u can see them if you drive close enough. So its important to scout properly to not miss out. I happen to know that the first map has one secret upgrade that might be of interest to you. Happy hunting
Oh, thanks! Someone mentioned that in an earlier comment and may have hinted at where it is as well. I'll make sure to explore a bit more to see if I can find that. That's good to know, too, in general. I'd guess it's got to be in some of those gray areas on the map. Thanks!
I backed the international scout out to where the winch would just reach, pulled truck to the scout then with the Chevy outside the fence I winched the scout forward. Then pulled famed truck again with scout, then scout with Chevy..... Until all three vehicles were out. I did this with completely stock vehicles.
Nice! This sounds like a great way to accomplish it! Certainly better than my attempts. :)
Getting better with every video. Love the game and your play through brings back memories. Also trying to catch up with your ATS series. Both series are underrated. Ever think about trying Mud Runner (prequel to Snow Runner) ?
Thanks, LJ! I have Mud Runner as well, but I've not played it. I've heard SnowRunner is quite a bit more evolved and better?
@@ZillaBlitz snowrunner is more of a complete game. The core mechanics were already really good in mudrunner (which is basically a re-release of the original spintires) but there is no career mode and no leveling up. Just completing logging objectives on different maps. In the old games however the gearshifter works as it should with clutch and stuff. For some reason they refuse to make a similar gearbox for snowrunner.. My biggest gripe. Also snowrunner was terribly glitchy at launch so getting into it now is actually perfect.
@@jafsterlordbib Good to know, thanks Jafster. I feel like there is so much gameplay with SnowRunner at the moment, so I'm pretty happy to stay focused on this for a bit. :)
Did you give up on this game or just the RUclips of it? I'm loving this game though had to play hard mode
Isn't it a great game? :)
On the series... yes and no.:) I switched to hard mode and started over, but haven't had time to play much after episode 10-ish. I do still hope to come back to it, such a fun and massive game! :)

Thanks for stopping in!
@@ZillaBlitz Oh I'm a numpty. I completely overlooked your hard mode playlist. I must be going blind. I'll be checking them out :)
There's also another mode now called NEW GAME + where you can pick and choose what areas of the game to make harder or easier.
What does "turn on engine on winched truck" mean at 12:25?
When you winch a truck, you're not just dragging it, you can start it's engine and it will drive itself while you pull it. You can even daisy chain two trucks together to pull difficult loads.
Whaaaaa? I really should read those things when they pop up. :)
why are you not using diff-lock??
I'm a little bit ahead of this now, and at this point I didn't realize I had that ability. :)
What game is this?!? SPINTIRES?!?
Sure thing, it's SnowRunner.
Hi zilla how are you
Doing well, Ateeq! Things good with you?
I'm good thanks
Hiya!
The raised suspension for the Fleetstar is in Black River! Some upgrades are out of the exploration towers range and you won't see them unless you drive nearby. Some are really obviously out of the way and later maps almost get no towers, so most people use the maprunner website to locate them.
For grip in mud, using low gears and differential lock will help you. I find it funny how you make hard mode from easy mode :)
If you want a great hardmode video playthrough check the hardmode playlist from youtuber knullmodem.
As for missions I see you haven't started most contracts yet. Now you have opened most of Black River you could start doing some of them for a nice payout and helping you get to level 6. I would leave the rescue/swamp missions till you get level 6 and the tire upgrade + raised suspension for the fleetstar.
Anyway nice video again! Have fun for the next ones!
Thanks for all the info, very helpful. I've played ahead a bit and have done a chunk of the jobs in Black River. As you mention, that's really helpful. I've started to pick up on the low gears and differential now, but have to get better at using them, for sure. And I'm thinking of starting over in hard mode. :)
