This is so cool that you got your son involved in TFL doing stuff like this and road tripping. These are life defining memories being formed... and the content is solid, but I’m just happy for you.

They film the 0-60 times at Colorado elevations, which they always mention . Are you thick?
Right, and the 0-60 time at those elevations is irrelevant to anyone that doesn't live a mile above sea level. It's not really a mark against their quality but the 0-60 times they run aren't consistent with their competition, who do tests at elevations that are more in line with most of the viewers.

You guys are my favorite channel for car reviews. As realistic as it gets and answers the questions that most people would ask about the type of vehicle you're reviewing....not just testing some generic metrics just for the hell of it. It's especially cool to see the family atmosphere that your channel brings!
When I got my 18 jku I modified it the next week and went on a road trip all I can say is AWESOME best memories I will have for a lifetime.

Great Video!! Love TFL!! This is the first time ever I am seriously considering a Wrangler. I will hold until summer of 2019 for two reasons. The Wrangler diesel and the 2020 Bronco.
Awesome video guys. We had a wrangler JL in California for a week on vacation exact same setup you guys ran...1 tank we got 389 miles out of it! I was impressed it lasted an entire week a lot of our afternoons was spent is traffic in LA but even then it did really well on fuel economy.

Thanks for the review. The JKU Sahara has a 22.5 gallon tank and already gets over 400 miles between fill ups.
Chicago guy here...there's a new Portillo's in Florida around Orlando somewhere....cool vid, Seems to me that the Sahara model of the JL was meant to be a Mall Crawler, but you all showed it's true blood of what it can really do...keep up the vids...TJ owner for 19 yrs now.

3.6l is revised. It was upgraded to variable lift in the 2016 grand Cherokee. That's part of how they get better mpg!

Haven't been to Chicago since I was about 7 years old. Of course one of the first stops we made was Portillo's, can still remember how good it was.

Truly loved this video. It shows what a wrangler can really do and I'm sure the up grade in transmission and other non-seen goodies contributed to the good gas mileage. Cannot wait to see what the diesel will do.
Great video. The Portillo's you went to is actually in Tempe (I know, it's right next to Phoenix). I'd go more often if they served beer.
I saw one thing I love...The fender light, at least with the headlights on, does not turn off when the turn signal is blinking. I hate that LED DRL equipped vehicles typically shut off the DRL on the side that is signalling for a turn. We'll see if it does this when headlights are off and DRL's only are on. It's just a small pet peve, but it bugs me every time I see it. Great video, guys! Keep the JL Wrangler content coming! It is helping me pass the time until mine is delivered.
Principal Skinr The DRL shutoff when blinkers are used is to stay compliant with DOT lumen output limits.
Principal Skinr federal law for the Lumens limits. If the drl interferes with the turning signal to where another vehicle can’t notice it shuts off. From the videos so far it seems like fca turned down the led of the wrangler so it doesn’t have to shut off.
Funny. Earlier this month I wondered the same thing about Moab to Boulder on one tank in my 80 series Land Cruiser. I made it with some serious diligence about using the throttle, with about 3 gallons left until completely empty (the light turns on with 5 gallons left).

Roman,somewhere you mention you prefer the manual. I got job for you.
On JL they switched gauges around, putting tachometer on left. I had drove cars with tachometer on left and my left hand was blocking the gauge while driving and shifting. Making it more like shifting by noise of the engine. Therefore eliminating need for tachometer since you can’t see RPM when you need it.
I would appreciate if you could test that for us. Thanks.

My wife and I took the JKU from Phoenix to Moab. soft top and 1/2 soft doors. the noise was horrible, but the trip was so much fun.
Nice video! I'm from Chicago, live in Phoenix now, love portillo's Italian beef, had 2010 Unlimited Wrangler! Sold it in 2014 and i missed that sucker.. I think it's time for another one! :)

So far guys we are getting 17mpg with our new JL Rubicon. This is the first time I spent this much money on a vehicle that I never even sat in till it was ours. We did that because of our faith in TFL and Mr Truck. It is one week old and so far we love it. Thanks and be well. Wayne
Great work guys... I'm not into Jeeps... BUT (I cannot believe I am saying this) I LOVE the new Rubicon JL.... the fuel economy in the Sahara model is unbelievable who would have guessed it 8-10 years ago.... ;)
I really wish I happened to run into you guys while you were in Moab. I was on my way to Crested Butte from Salt Lake City and stopped in Arches along the way. What a beautiful drive that was. I stopped at the Utah/Colorado border to take a picture at the sign too.

I'm not from Chicago and I've visited Portillos when I last visited there as well as Lou Maldinaldi's. Lived both of them.
I run 25 psi in my KO2s on road. It makes for a really nice ride on the road, decent on dirt and I see no discernible wear.

Taka Yama that was my thought. A bone stock Sahara doing more than 95% of drivers will ever do. Put some more off roadworthy tires on one and you’d be good to go.

We Have 2017 version for rentals over here in the Virgin Islands and never allow the guest to take down the soft top, So much easier now. and that ragtop will be even better. Nice Vid Guys. Watching all the way from Virgin Gorda, BVI

y not ? i have 2002TJ stick shift and 2012 JK sahara unlimited auto and the defence is huge. i use my TJ only for offroading coz its much fun but not on the road. the JK is ok for the road but the only thing i dont like is the transmission it dosent down shift properly.
