Cafe Du Monde is a great must too spot to go to in NOLA. The Beugbet are the best. I bought the CDM Beignet packages. I only have avocado oil. Can I fry the dough with Avacado Oil?
I find it interesting that the box mix only requires 7 ounces of water since to make a single batch at the restaurant takes 128 oz of water, 192 oz of whole milk, 25 pounds of flour, or about 80 cups of flour and one special bag mix.
@@millzdeals I currently work at one on the north shore and yes those amounts are correct. Also be careful of the frozen au lait there is a lot of sugar.
i love benjetd (idk how to spell) but could never get them from anywhere but my house or a Cafe in biloxi ms where I live. the only places I can find that gives me enough power ded sugar
@@queensmove We use cottonseed oil so we don't burn the kitchen down. The oil has to be above 300 degrees Fahrenheit so we can cook the beignets in 90 seconds or less.
I haven’t tried it in the Airfryer but if you do, try just one and brush each side of the dough with melted butter or oil and have your air fryer preheated to 350 before you try one. If you don’t like how that turns out, use any pot or wok and add about 1/2 inch of oil to the pot and shallow fry the beignets. You’ll need to flip them over once the bottom side is golden brown.
I made these this morning using peanut oil in a large Le Creuset pot. If you filter the oil through a coffee filter when cool, you can re-use it a few times. 8:54
After hearing that ingredient list, I regret buying this unremarkable mix today. They look tasty, despite their ridiculously simple ingredients. Basically doughboys.
Yes my sister had soup cooking in a crockpot plugged into her island just like that, my poor nephew who was 1 at the time pulled on the chord and suffered 3rd degree burns all over his body :( it was horrible
@lcanton next time go to Cafe Beignet on Canal Street. They are fantastically awesome and delicious. There is a line however so be patient. I just now returned from there. I tried beignets at other places...not the best. Cafe Beignet is the bomb!.....as stated by the young folks.
Cafe du monde is amazing especially the coffee for a decent price highly recommend
I went to cafe du monde this year in January and I loved it 😋 I wanna go back!
I’ve read that if you stir the mix and water together more heavily, the beignets become chewier.
My son keeps asking me to buy the beignet mix. We've tried the coffee with Chicory and it's so good.
Nice video young lady and I too had to add flour to work the dough..
God bless and keep smiling
The dough was definitely on the sticky side. Thanks for watching!
I feel the measurements are wrong it should be more mix ...the dough was no manageable at all
Thank you. One of mine patients gifted me a box. ❤. Now I know what to do
Love the chop sticks with the beignets
They are pretty good , I make them for the grandkids a couple times a month
Just found out have to let the dough rest alittle then its less sticky and more airy
They look like Chinese fried dough donuts
Cafe Beignet is also wonderful. I just returned from there.
Cafe beignet is so much better just being honest they’re beignet are bigger and more fluffy
I watched them made it at Cafe Du Monde, their table had about 1/2” flour on it…thank you…
Okay so
@@natashacornu-jbanez5011 exactly
@@natashacornu-jbanez5011 So she’s validating the fact that you should be liberal with your flour.
Thanks
God bless all of you🤍
Thank you! 🌸
I just patted it down with my hands. Worked well.
“That was pretty easy” and then we remember the two minutes of previous rolling and struggling.😅 that was just… Don’t worry about it.
Ha 😅🤣
This video is so funny 😂 I've never been to Cafe Du Monde but now I want to try making them 🙌 I need a deep fryer in my life tho 💯
Get the mini cuisinart fryer. Takes up little space
@@aycewithalisa5852 thanks for the great tip 💯 The last one I bought was too big so I gave it away cuz I hate taking up space! 🙌

😊 Is this correct? did you work there?.
@@millzdeals I currently work at one on the north shore and yes those amounts are correct. Also be careful of the frozen au lait there is a lot of sugar.
What kind of flour and oil did you use? Thank you. Very helpful video. Can't wait to try.
You did very good,. The only thing is the door is supposed to remain a little bit tacky that's the difference. It does need to be sticky
that is actually great info, cause I'm thinking it too sticky
I saw something about mixing it for 10 mins and also letting it sit overnight
Do you think you can make the dough and cut into pieces the night before and then fry them the next morning?
You can precut them the night before but be sure to liberally flour them and the plate or pan they’ll be laying on so they don’t stick.
Put them in a bag and shake it up with the Powdered Sugar. ❤
I make the same beignets from scratch 😊
I love beignet. I miss Nola.
I miss Nola too!
You have the most fantastic surface to work dough on, granit. - and you are using a tree board.
Aah yes you are right! Clearly didn’t think of that at the time. Thank you for watching ☺️
Chill the dough for 15 min after mixing
Good idea!
I fried them on the stove.
What electric skillet is that? Can I use any brand electric skillet?
Will you be bringing me one?
All gone!!!
i love benjetd (idk how to spell) but could never get them from anywhere but my house or a Cafe in biloxi ms where I live. the only places I can find that gives me enough power ded sugar
How many beignets did you get with the recipe?
The recipe (2 cups of mix) said it yields 2 dozen but I cut my beignets on the larger size so I got 1 dozen beignets from the 2 cups of mix.
Can you freeze the dough?
That is an interesting idea. You can freeze and fry them when needed.
Did you use peanut oil?
No I used vegetable oil because that’s all I had but I bet peanut oil would make it more tastier
@aycewithalisa5852 the actual Cafe uses cottonseed oil. Might make a difference in the texture.

Any chance this could work on an air fryer? I have the mix but I don't have a regular fryer.

I don’t have a deep fryer, I just fry them in a couple inches of oil and make sure the temp is correct on my candy thermometer
Nice. Got a box. What kind of fryer are you using?
I have the cuisinart mini deep fryer since it takes up less counter space!

I really want to try some of this, both In savory & sweet,it sounds heavenly 💞🤩😘💋💯✴️🤟🌹
Savory would be good in a garlicky butter sauce! I’ll have to try that next time
After hearing that ingredient list, I regret buying this unremarkable mix today. They look tasty, despite their ridiculously simple ingredients. Basically doughboys.
It doesn’t taste the same as getting it from Cafe Du Monde…something is missing…it’s good though
Agreed. Definitely tastes better at the actual place.
Is 7 ounces one cup of water. South Africa
8oz is one cup water
Needs more flour!!!!! 😂
I’m here because I managed to fail the box haha
That’s hilarious! But they really need to mention that the dough will be super sticky if there’s not enough flour on your surface!
Girl! You’re making me so nervous w that hot oil plug hanging over the counter! Danger!!! Use a more protected area please. Super hazardous!
😬
Sorry to make you nervous! I live on the edge! Just joking! I shall remember this for next time! Thank you for reaching out. 🙏🏽 ❤️
I thought it was just me. I kept yelling at the screen for her to be careful😄
Yes my sister had soup cooking in a crockpot plugged into her island just like that, my poor nephew who was 1 at the time pulled on the chord and suffered 3rd degree burns all over his body :( it was horrible
I agree. A safety hazard definitely. Be careful with your oil fryer.
Make them thinner
We didn’t care for the beignets at Cafe Du Monde. We found them super chewy and somewhat dense. The mix is better.
Chewy? You must have got a bad batch. I go there all the time and have never had a chewy beignet. Café Du Monde is amazing.
@@brodyhill5350 We went to the main location and to a satellite location and had the same opinion of both. Very overrated 🤷🏽♀️
Been like 30 years since I've been there but I just remember them being an average beignet. Nothing particularly outstanding or bad about them.
