- In New Orleans, many people grow up eating beignets. And if they aren't enjoying them at home, they're likely heading to Café du Monde in the French Quarter for a fresh plate served hot from the fryer. The café is the indisputable source of NOLA's most famous beignets, which, after more than a century, remain the only food item you can order off the menu.

Café du Monde’s Beignet | Legendary Eats
The last girl is spot on. Even if you don't like beignets, you have to hit up Café du Mondé just for the tradition. Cool joint.
My guess is that she doesn't even like it, there's no evidence of her even ordering them. Although I can imagine her ordering one beignet without powdered sugar on top of it. Or maybe with less powdered sugar.
@@in_wino_veritas I'd do the same, that much of sugar scare me
The last girl is spot on B.S.! TRADITION is LOVE CARE AND RESPECT, nothing she gave 2 cents worth of those beautifully crisp and warm dough pastries that hug your tounge and body!
It's more of a French tradition that has been welcomed into new orleans
If you don't like beignets no problem, go for the coffee.
Those ladies criminally undersold beignets... My first time trying one was like a religious experience. I cannot describe how good they are. One of the best, most memorable food experiences I've ever had in my life.
Same. I can PROUDLY say I’ve been here. The most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten, hands down.
Reminds me of Tiana making beignets from The Princess and The Frog🥰
yess🤩
I thought it was just me
And princess and the frog is based in New Orleans... Right??
@@fredah3080 yessir ⚜️⚜️⚜️
@@fredah3080 I love that movie.....shadow man voiced David Keith from Greenleaf
Dude! We were just there last week. Wife and I ate our beignets sitting on the steps looking out over the river just behind the cafe.
I went there with my family! It was nice, but a lot of trash. 🙁
What is New Orleans like? It's on my bucket list. I'm in Ireland, have been to New York, Boston and Rhode Island, so much to see in US!
Well... we mostly walked around the French Quarter. It’s old. Reminds me of parts of Mexico or what I imagine parts or Europe look like. The streets are narrow and the buildings aren’t tall necessarily, maybe only a few stories, but they are built close together and are deep rather than wide. The streets are dirty and full of people but there’s a lot of charm. Everyone is respectful and there is a lot to do. You can easily get lost walking for hours through the streets, but you don’t mind as there’s always something fascinating to capture your attention. And of course... the beignets!
Did you go to the one at the mall? It has a very beautiful view
@@titaniumleaf if you think US has a lot to see, you need to travel more, much more.

It’s like taking a newbie blueberry and mushroom picking, I guess. Give them general info but never share your secrets.
damn, I was going to go to the gym but now I guess I have to go to Louisiana
Same here homie! Road trip! Ha. You have a great day!
I feel this 🥲😂😂

The same
I still have an oil splash burn that I got over a decade ago as a middle schooler.
When to New Orleans last year, and these are great!!! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.
Aren’t they the thing like what they had in princess and the frog
@@melol9404 Yep, same city, New Orleans.
Please have one for me next time you go!🤗
@@IamCHOSEN23 You got it!!!!
Haven’t been there in years but I love the beignets and coffee
I can’t wait to visit New Orleans & I live in Houston so it wouldn’t be too far to travel in car. Right now isn’t probably a good time idk I seen some of my friends travel there
@@littlesparrow303 used to live in Houston as well and did the same thing.
@@gbalph4 okay well I’ll see if my family wants to go. If not I’ll go with friends too. I watch videos about the place & it looks so nice ^^
@@littlesparrow303 I dont know how fast your family drives but my parents went there earlier this year and we live in west Houston. We normally make it to Louisiana in 2 to 3 hours and to New Orleans in 5 hours from Houston to New Orleans. Ive never been to that place but I really want to go now.
My father in law and husband love the chicory coffee
Pro tip there is a Cafe du Monde in the Mall across the bridge (Gretna), they are the exact same and the line is not 4 hours long.
Yeah there's more than Cafe du Monde. There's one near Covington I think. But the original is New Orleans is easily our most famous
I go to the one in City Park, which is gorgeous and filled with oak trees and Spanish moss. City Park and the French Quarter are connected by a red streetcar. Both in New Orleans.
@@TChau-wc9me me too, thats the best one to me.
@@TChau-wc9me morning call is a great place too and they sell that mango freeze dessert too 😊
Pro tip: don't waste your time with these overrated things.
I love these, I went to Louisiana to visit my uncle & he has introduced me to so many southern Louisiana stuff. Those are indeed, beyond better than a donut. I miss having those. I also love for being introduced to Slap Yo Mama seasoning & Louisiana Hot Sauce. I love their culture & history & traditions!
Me too. New Orleans is my favorite place I've visited
Dont forget Tabasco sauce and Gumbo...
@@timbowalk14 I came here specifically to point out the Tabasco brand hot sauce
BEST beignets ever!! I went there every day, sometimes twice a day, when I was visiting.
2:50 The evidence is overwhelming!!!!, LOL, this place is incredible, beignets are to die for and the hot chocolate is really good too
You’re the 1st person I’ve seen to mention the hot chocolate!! I’ve only been once some years back but still haven’t had better hot chocolate from a restaurant!
Dude, I just visited New Orleans yesterday and for breakfast I went to the Cafe Du Monde, not knowing what I was in for. Got myself some Beignets, and hot damn, they were too good. This was also my first time in New Orleans ever, so I felt like I was welcomed and would never forget the moment I first stepped into New Orleans
3:21 she's gonna regret eating that in her car
I can attest to the deliciousness of Cafe du Monde’s beignets and the cafe o lait! Superb!
I live in Indonesia, the shape and main ingredients of this Beignet reminds me of Odading. Oh dear, I'm craving for one now!
I had these back in December, and it was actually heaven
That pfp 🤤🤤🤤

The recipe isn't given. Just the ingredients. Good luck figuring out the recipe from that.
@@kaveeshafernando8252 a professional pastry chef could reengineer a recipe like cafe du monde, but it wouldn't be exact probably. Cafe du monde has been doing it for a hundred years and has it down to a science so you're probably right
"It's like heaven in a bag."
That description pretty much sums it up.
In Kenya we have something similar, we call it mandazi
When prepared with coconut milk, we call it mahamri
I was just thinking that Lol 😂 Somalia too
I bet yhat tastes good..
Sounds really delicious 😁🤤
That sounds soooo good!🤤
Sounds delicious. Shoutout to Kenya!
Had one of this sitting by the Mississippi river while a steamboat was passing.
Where I live (in Anjou, west of France) - and I think it was created in Nantes or Vendée - we call them bottereaux. We mostly eat them at Candlemas (02/02)
Some people in my family like them with big air bubbles (it's basically empty) so that they can put jam in it
Can’t enjoy New Orleans without going to Cafe Du Monde.
Cafe du Monde’s beignets belong on everybody’s bucket list. i always have to go whenever i’m in New Orleans. so good!
I’ve tried beignets once. Not here in this cafe specifically but somewhere else and they are delicious. I am now craving them again.
Went on a cross country road trip a couple years ago and ate a lot of good food but Cafe Du Monde was the most memorable and delicious spot on the whole trip. Can’t wait to go back
2:47 people are going to think they're crack heads. (This is a joke 🤭)

It’d be on their clothes, not noses.
😂😂💀
😂
Reminds of the princess and the frog, I really want to try it!
Love their coffee and beignets!
I know this place because of the movie Chef. Thanks Jon Favreau.
Omg yes, they really are worth the hype!
I had these when I visited New Orleans years ago it is soo good when warm
I visited Cafe du Monde when I was in New Orleans for a spring break trip for one of my college courses alongside the rest of my classmates in my freshman year of college. The beignets were so delicious! I had them with some milk. I remember almost sneezing because I accidentally inhaled some powdered sugar. The line can be so long sometimes though!
My grandma used to make these. i sure miss her. Miss these. Miss her gumbo too.
I was at Cafe du Monde a number of times when I was a student at LSU in Baton Rouge. Every time in New Orleans, we Malaysian students would never failed to drop over at Cafe du Monde for the famous beignets and its cafe au lait. After that we would take a leisurely walk in the French Quarter, Jackson Square and other places. That was many years ago, I am Malaysian, now in Malaysia, but those were sweet memories in New Orleans,,
30 years ago tried this and it is unforgettable. Simple and delicious
dayum how does one still remember that
This made my trip to New Orleans all the more worth it
It's in Jackson Square where the artists are. Just down the street is Central Grocery, which makes fresh, the original muffuletta sandwich! A MUST TRY! One will serve at least six people!!! I grew up going to NOLA from a city about an hour away. Memories❣️
Their coffee is a regional specialty chicory blend with a peppery-grassy aftertaste some folk aren’t expecting. I think it’s best iced. It’s kind of a tea-coffee hybrid
I wish I could try a beignet. It looks so tasty.
I live in the city and I eat them constantly. It'll never get old.
We call it “odading” in west java and “galundeng” in jogja
Ini... kayaknya antara odading dan donat...
So this is like "bolang baling" or "roti bantal" right.?
I had them, when I visited New Orleans during American Association of Pediatrics 2019 conference. Trust me, the best thing about them is its price :)
How much?
I'm definitely gonna make this for breakfast😭💕with coffee
I love how he tosses them backwards into boiling oil lmao.
for anyone coming here the lines in the french quarter location are always much longer, but the city park and other ones are always easy to walk in :)
When my mother and I visited New Orleans in January, this was our first stop (apart from our hotel, of course).
I tried beignets from Café Du monde, I really didn’t like them. But it’s definitely something you should try while you’re in New Orleans. It’s fun to immerse yourself in the experience, and this is something you shouldn’t miss.
they overrated
Visited the end of February during Mardi Gras..they were outstanding..even got more at the airport cuz they have stand there
This is still in my top list its been 6 years since I had this best dessert ever ❤
I’ve never been to cafe du monde but i make their boxed version from time to time. Not sure if I love it, but I need to check it out in person.
Every year me and my friends go to Louisiana to help up a temple and we hit Cafe Du monde religiously!
Lived here NO when a girl. Born in Ohio. Was such lovely glamour when father took us there for beignets. Cafe du
Mond. Lovely memories and part of my youth. 🩷🙏
Love how you hear the tuba and trumpet in the back😂
I've never been so excited to eat in my life then visiting NOLA. Oh man, then when I went to Cafe du Monde... oh man was being treated like family and gave everyone a hug (pre-covid). Much love to the people working at all the locations.
I can only imagine what the OSHA inspectors think of him of him throwing those into the oil
The coffee and beignets from this place are like no other.
The café au lait is heaven!
I loved growing here as a kid and as an adult 😀⚜️
When I went there I felt like I was in heaven it was the best thing I have ever had
Café du mondé is a tradition in New Orleans! No one can compare this restaurant to any other restaurant!
(There is also a park next to it so you can play and get delicious beignets!)
I live in new orleans/kenner area. These are heavenly and traditional. Delicious
ahhh... ROTI BANTAL goes international, love it...
Love this place! Early morning and late night! Lol
In Indonesia we usually call this odading/kue bantal, even the ingedients are so similiar although we eat it without powdered sugar
Going to Cafe du Monde is my favorite part of going to New Orleans
We have fry bread in New Zealand. I've always had it with golden syrup. Mmm yum
I had flown out of my Home State to New Orleans for a while then to Florida thereafter. As we were walking but I had notice the building. Unfortunately I also noticed the line and moved on. Maybe some other time? I want to say it must suck to have not been able to experience this, but my life continued and I enjoyed everything but.
:) ;). :)
Mine were stale when I went to Cafe DuMonde ! It was an experience but still I was mad I waited for stale beignets
In Indonesia we also have something similar like this, it's called odading.
I hope I get to taste these someday!
the one place id love to go back to.
I went there a few years ago.. Beingets and hot chocolate.... it was so good.
Want to go there. It looks very delicious
It's look like ODADING from Indonesia, actually from west of java
it feels like you become an iron man

Great spot. They orange juice fire.
Not fortunate enough to say that I was raised in NOLA, but I come from a family that came from there. I LOVE this city. Man oh man, I gotta find a way to go back.
When I think about New Orleans I think of 4 things:
- The amazing culture mixes (not to mention the accents and art).
- The Saints (WHO DAT Nation for life).
- Jazz (can't go nowhere without hearing brass, and I'm 100% okay with that).
- Cafe du Monde (you ain't gotta have your phone out to enjoy your time with their Beignets and their coffee).
Reminds me of the movie Chef! Dream to go there one day! 🤩
I always wanted to eat this when I was little, It looked hella delicious in Princess and the frog, but I haven't tried it😆
Went there last year with my family to cafe du monde they were delicious
Can’t wait to be there in July
Cafe Beignet is pretty good too
ive tried it during my trip in nola, summer 2019, and lemme tell you guys im missing these so bad. can't find any of these in france
Never seen or heard this before but Beignet & Americano look like a good combination.
I went there while I was in New Orleans! I could not eat the beignets because they were not gluten free, but my other family members said they were delicious. The day I went they were packed with people, but the crowd should be a little better because of quarantine.
What if you took a bite and spit it out? Torture I know but you atleast got to try some delicious N.O dessert
this is the only host in insider that isn’t annoying
Nothing like this in the UK. Really wanna go one day
I want these so badly
Cafe Du Monde is THE SPOT!
I live in South Louisiana,it’s one of the best things ever!! You have to try it!
I'm a Canadian and I'm going to New Orleans just for this.
If you walk around to the alley behind Café du Mondé, there's a window where you can look in and see them being made.
As a French Acadian I have been to New Orleans And Café du Monde for the Beignets And they were very good However Pastries And donuts that the Beignets reminded me of were in Petit Étang Nova Scotia at Aucoin Bakery / Boulangerie The Donuts light and fuffly But a nice crispness to the outside to hold the french chocolate Someone said they air raid it with a blender And pour it in the fryer quickly after ...But who knows You get a sandwich And a few treats And a large coffee And get on the road because Your next view is of Nova Scotias Cabot Trail ... Mountain looking hills And deep valleys with a oceans view behind it all Twisting roads And the smell of cedar and pine Everyone drives slow to catch a glimpse of a Moose grazing As a hazy fog covers the valley floor ...We loved it there
this food like odading or roti bantal(pillow bread) at Indonesia, the difference,at Indonesia we usually add sesame on the top and without sugar
These beignets are mouthwatering. Can these be ordered online?
In France, beignets are doughnuts... They're circular, with a filling, never had them served hot either. Maybe US doughnuts are different to what we call a doughnut in Europe so for you they're different but for us they're the same (pancakes and waffles are very different in the US too).
I remember when I was a child, in the summer the beignet seller would come onto the beach with a big cooler full of them. Sometimes I'd have a chocolate-filled one as a treat, fantastic. I remember marvelling at how big they were, it would probably look small now!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
This is New Orleans' version. Not the same.
Paradise on Every bite of beignet, i can't stop eat beignets, i can get more more and more, with or without sugar, no problem, A Cup Of Black coffee please :)))
Ughh I love nawlins only 6 hours away can’t wait to go back again lol
Reminds me of getting a fresh zeppole from a local pizza place in NY.
