I'm so glad you came to New Orleans and that you didn't just stay in the French Quarter. You were given excellent recommendations. When I’m playing tour guide, Liuzza’s bbq shrimp poboys are a must. For such a short visit, you did a great job selecting the food you ordered. I would've recommended a muffaletta for the road trip to Texas. Come back and stay longer! 👍

Doobie has the best b-roll footage of any vlogger, she shouldn't even be considered a vlogger abymore bc she elevates the form so much with her footage and editing. She really makes the places she visits come alive thriugh her edits 😚👌

Warms my heart to see Nola appreciated but true justice needs many more visits due to time and stomach capacity. Thank you for giving the salute to a unique and special place. Spent all of my life here and it still resonates with life, food, happiness, and all the things worth celebrating, all the more apparent when I travel that we have something worth cherishing here. Good job on the vid. A date, some lines, and oodles more places on me when you are back :)
    Take care, lotsa love

You're such an amazing creator, and i'm so inspired. Btw, I love your food content, but i also really adore your personal life content like when you visited Denmark. Thanks Dooby for all that you share with us!

So happy you brought up Acadian culture!! I'm from New Brunswick, Canada and am Acadian myself. Love to hear that you mentioned how Acadian and Cajun culture combined. Would love to see you visit Atlantic Canada one day!! Come in the summer, we have some of the best seafood you'll ever eat!

I wanted to comment about the same you did! I am Québécoise and I always considered the Acadia's like brothers and sisters from another province.
1 friend of mine is coming back from la Nouvelle-Orléans and I am kinda jealous, even though I am barely able to eat spicy, I would love to talk to some French-speaking or even Ceole-speaking people there, since Creole is a mix of a lot of languages like Dutch and French.😊

Just an amendment! Creole in NOLA is a mixture of European, African and Indigenous cultures, not necessarily a European person born in the West Indies or Spanish America. The definition you gave may have worked to describe Creole colonial settlers during the Louisiana purchase let’s say, but the definition has now evolved to mean a mixed race person of European, African and Indigenous heritage with ties to the colonial era of Louisiana. I think you did a great job describing Cajun cooking and mentioning the Acadians though. Happy you enjoyed NOLA cuisine! ✨

I have been a huge fan of hers. I was even watching some older videos of hers on this channel. She made a video and in that video was talking about if having money was worth it. People commented and informed her of the insensitivity and tone deafness of the comment - her very next video was an apology and a deeper explanation.
I do not see her here. If you look at the vid she posted a day ago - she is IN those comments. But if you look here - where here supporters like us are trying to let her know; she is NOWHERE to be found. And her most recent vid doesn’t have any commentary regarding the several comments here.
I want to make sure the cottage cheese community stands strong on the level of disrespect and absolutely bullying that went down in those few seconds of this video. It is absolutely unacceptable at this point and I’m extremely surprised at her. I was waiting to see what she would do before unsubbing because I genuinely have came to this channel in the last year several times and have watched her shorts and TikTok’s religiously. And I know I’m just one person - but I just cannot support this anymore and…..it’s just sad 💔✌🏻

Chicory coffee is pretty popular here in the south of India aka South Indian filter coffee. There are a lot of coffee plantations around here. They pride themselves in growing and making the best coffee (ground). They are usually sold in 80:20, 70:30, 75:25, and 60:40 (coffee:chicory). This coffee is brewed in a contraption called South Indian filter, basically like drip coffee, and is a milk based coffee. There are certain restaurants that get their customized mix from the roasters

Dooby, so glad you had fun in my hometown! I was wondering in your Philly video, "how does the roast pork sandwich compare to a proper poboy?" Our food is rich and flavorful, and there's a lot of places like Liuzza's. A short drive out of the French Quarter would open up so many local spots, and that's the same for any tourist city. Eat with the locals and enjoy the hospitality.

I'm from Philly and have had the Dinic's roast pork sandwich. and I've been to NOLA 4 times now and have had many po'boys. I would compare the poboy more to a cheesesteak hoagie, which just has lettuce and tomatoes, maybe onions added. the roast pork with broccoli Rabe has stronger, more robust flavors vs. a cheesesteak hoagie or poboy, which is more milder. the bread, however, is the biggest difference. Poboys bread is dryer and more fragile and tends to fall apart. where the rolls used for the pork or cheesesteak sandwich have a chewier crust and can hold up better. hope this helps

Can’t believe you were in the Deep South and didn’t get to try some boudin. I moved to Philly 6 months ago and the food scene in the south is 100x more flavorful and much better.

For people wanting to try chicory: if you're allergic or are sensitive to ragweed, chicory will also have the same effect. They're in the same family, along with chamomile.

They do sell fried green tomatoes all over the south. You just have to find those small, usually family owned restaurants. They are just better tasting in the summer. Also, crawfish is a big thing all over the south. Its also to sad you weren't able to discover the birthplace of BBQ. Southeastern BBQ is super special. Hope you aren't sick of the chickory coffee....thats a Appalachian mountain people thing.😊

I'm sorry but I could not let this stand. Majority of New Orleans Cuisine was created by African Slaves, which is sadly given credit to by Europeans. Many of these dishes were created by slaves with the discorded portions of meats and things the slaves owners didn't consider choice meats!! Like shrimps, and catfish which are known as bottom feeders. Or chicken necks, gizzards, ham hocks, neck bones, turkey tails, turkey necks etc... Grits are made from corn maize, which is often used by Africans. Okra, Collard, Mustard greens, Sweet potatoes were brought from Africa, which are part of their regular diet. Also many of the spices come from there as well. French cuisine is often bland and does not use many of the spices used in New Orleans cooking. Many like to give credit often to those that don't deserve it when it comes to this cuisine. Sadly this is just like most of American history when it comes to African/Black people in America. These slaves took the scraps they were given, turned them into Culinary Masterpieces, only to have the credit stolen from them!!

Exactly!!! Creole is a mix of European, African and indigenous culture-but it’s undeniable how heavy the influence from Africa is-idk how she completely ignored that lol

You are discounting Cajuns who used the scraps to make dishes as well. Creole cuisine maybe but Cajun cuisine she had spot on.

      @jjscrilla3558 10 месяцев назад +1

@@savagedogepets5708 That's like saying which came first the chicken or the egg. Cajun's are the descendants of the french. The french which are Europeans were the slave owners, who used the choice meats not the scraps. The Middle of America was known as Louisiana which was completely own by the French before being sold by Napoleon which was called the"Louisiana Purchase". Maybe you should look up some videos of Legendary Chef Leah Chase of the famous Dooky Chase Restauraunt for a complete explanation or one of her disciples chef Jon Besh. Like I said African Slaves unfortunately had to use what they could gather. The Slaves cooked the meals for the slave owners, and they had to make a meal after with whatever was left. They could only eat after the slave owners had been fed. You need a history lesson on how things operated during those times. If the meals for the Slave owners didn't taste good their would be terrible consequences, like beatings, r*pe or even murder. These were very cruel times. They learned to make something out of nothing. Original French food from France til this day is often very bland. Slaves had to use lots of Herbs and Spices to rid the meat of it's gamey taste, especially the non choice parts.

@@jjscrilla3558 Cajuns were kicked from Canada and ended up settling in Louisiana, they were never rich, never slave owners, had the economic status of basically the slave population. They were cooking with scraps.

Went to college for a year there, my mom owned some houses right on Royal Street a block over from Bourbon Street. I still think about all the delicious food, and was such a cool vibe walking around at any time of the day. Fun happy people everywhere thru out the day and night, good music street to street, and all the old buildings made it feel like I was transported to a different time period. Super photogenic too, photography on easy mode:)
