This video was first made 2 years ago. I ended up not updating much. I mostly changed a bit of phrasing that had to do with timelines (ie. Angry Birds Movie 2 wasn't out yet). I also stitched in comments from Joey Betz that I found in an AMA. I think those comments straight from the dev added a lot! I know I said Fancy Pants was going to be the next episode, but I had to push that one pack. For... Reasons. But it's going to be worth it!
@@Zander2212 I would love to at some point! I need to come up with a strategy though. Playing 100s of hours of that series for a single video would be a LOT of work!
@@2leftthumbs Understandable. My best suggestion would be to ask anyone who has done a Let's Play if you could borrow some footage (though I'd suggest making your own footage for some of it). Or, since they're so big, you could do a series like Henry Stickman. I don't know if either of those are feasible though, just spitballing.
Man I completely forgot about that old game Crush the castle. I only remember playing a hacked version with my brother and throwing black holes everywhere lol.
I appreciate the vote of confidence! I take pride in my flash history knowledge :) But if it were to come down to a battle of Flash gaming skill? I think you'd have me beat every time xD
If the guy is using operant terms, then "positive punishment" is wrong. Positive punishment would be some stimulus appearing to punish the player for failing. The bloody corpses are positive reinforcement, they just don't work as that for everyone
I think something the internet needs to realize that all art is stolen, nothing is truly original. Getting inspiration can be big or small, but Angry Birds in the End was an original idea. Yes, a big part of it is inspired by (or stolen from depending on how it's looked at), but it still added onto that idea and turned it into something new.
Have you tried the rusty lake series? Seems like the perfect game to analyze, the games are also pretty cheap when they're on sale on steam. 10 of the games are cube escape games, and can be played on a flash emulator instead(although they are slightly different to the steam release, but I don't think any changes important to the story were made). Also, always liked armor games as well, when I was younger it was the site I always went to for flash games. I remember playing so much bubble tanks.
I definitely want to go deep on the Rusty Lake series sometime! I know it will be a serious commitment to stitch it all together, so I am saving it for when I have more time
Angry Birds improved upon Crush the Castle on so many levels.. First off, the artstyle&aesthetics are much more colourful&charming whereas the flash game's artstyle is very drab and secondly, it fixed an issue with CTC, switching the boulder sling with a normal slingshot made the aiming much more precise. I look at thiis in the same way as Final Fight Vs Streets Of Rage, was SoR a blatant rip off of FF? Yeah but its sequel Sor2 ended up being one of the best beat'em'ups ever made and SoR2 has its own identity separate from FF. Lot of games start off as rip offs such as saints row or medal of honour but eventually they create their own identity down the road.
It's certainly something I plan to do someday! There are plenty of websites that have made significant contributions to the culture and industry of Flash games.
Ayo, I dont really like angry birds, but if you want to say that they ripped of crush the castle its the same thing to say that they copied bowman aswell. nice video btw

Its a great video
Please do a video on Epic Battle Fantasy. That was one of my favorites growing up.

@Amphibia Bird The timing of that is pretty crazy!

I've never seen that. Sounds kinda great!
I'll admit I had no idea that Crush the Castle itself was inspired by older games. You know more about Flash than I do.
Wow
hmm

@@Ceptle Your not that guy Beltran trust me your not that guy! 😐
Crush the castle's fire bombs were like crack cocaine to my baby 7 year old brain
I remember Crush the castle, that brings back memories
Honestly my 3rd fav flashlight episode (right behind pico and tankmen). Good job, as always Graeme. You never cease to impress me.
Thanks Max! Glad to hear the quality feels maintained :)
@@2leftthumbs no problem ;)
Toothpaste + Orange Juice= *DEATH*
I do find throwing birds at walls more enjoying than stones, but I will respect the foundation of my favorite game.

You should do a flash light video about epic battle fantasy
Man i used to play those games all the time
I would love to! I just need an opportunity to play all the games through first, which I know will take a very long time.

THAT'S NOT WHAT POSITIVE PUNISHMENT MEANS
I took Pysch 101 and this totally went over me. Yeah, operant conditioning has got some counter-intuitive terminology.
I actually like
the look of siege master
Yeah I think they did a great job with it!
Inspiration is when you make a game LIKE the original. This is literally just a reskin.
God crush the castle was my absolute game as a kid
Could you consider covering about Flipline Studios' Papa Louie games, please?
I'd love to at some point!
I don’t know man, that chicken looks like it could get all of there friends and kill you if you pick them up

Love it
Angry birds give me a lot of nostalgia sad that's rovio destroyed it

I played angry birds since I was little, and I just discovered crush the castle recently. I personally think they are both great in their own way
He literally forgot the name of his on game
This game looks ugly compared to Angry Birds
Hi everyone anyone played flash games of angry birds?
Would you be interested in making videos on Flash websites
It's certainly something I plan to do someday! There are plenty of websites that have made significant contributions to the culture and industry of Flash games.
I was waiting this one to get revised
I remember HATING Angry Birds when it came out because I loved Crush the Castle and I thought it was a ripoff lol.
The hypocrisy is crazy, even crush the castle is a ripoff of castle clout.
maybe 21st?

This sounds like an old flashlight episode

Please do the Warlords series!
Crush the casl is not the same
Avatar fortress fight
big thanks for this video, this helped me for my presentation on angry birds 👍
Yes
Yes it is
I think angey birds it just inspired by crush the castle or mabye is a coincidence
Saying Angry Birds is a ripoff of Crush the Castle is like saying Sonic is a ripoff of Mario.
THANK YOU.
Tbh its better than Crush the castle my opinion
hol up is that the “for the king” menu theme playing in the background 8:26
Yes
Primary flashlight when?
Part 2 worst rip offs angry bird please. 😀
They took the idea and made it slightly different for new platform
He should do a flashlight on madness combat
The flash games Dark Cut (I think that was the name) were also very obviously copied to make Trauma Center
Excellent question
all of them are yeet tho

Crush the castle was better

Crush the castle is like the rip off name castle crashers but it isn’t anything like castle crashers
Why do your vids not get recomended to me?!?!?
Is not a rip off it’s inspired
(Visible confusion)
Well, no angry birds is not a ripoff to crush the castle
It’s befor crush the castle
First Crush the Castle: May 2009
First Angry Birds: December 2009
Well I think it’s befor crunch the castle, but That’s okay about your comment
