I'm pretty sure this is missing a step. It doesn't mention anything about adding the other 7ml of sample water before the 4ml of reagent 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I was having a relaxing morning at home just now and thought “hey, why don’t I check my tank’s nitrate level with my new Hanna Nitrate checker.” I then opened up the box, then opened up the instruction booklet and thought “it will probably be less of a hassle to just scrub algae clean off of each rock in my tank than to do this test.”
I am a fan of Hanna checkers and own 4. I like them for their convenience and ease of use. The testing process of this checker however is the opposite of that. I am stunned that you would produce a checker that is so misaligned with your brand position. I was extremely excited when I heard about this product and even more let down when I watched the videos on its use. I, and so many more Hanna users, expected better from you.
It may be a few steps but for people like me that are color blind this is super helpful. I do wish it was easier but I can never tell the different shades on the card tests.
Hi Hanna. This test is more complicated than previous ones but for me the extra complication is worth it for the confidence level I get from the output. After many years I am now confident in my Nitrate levels. However as mentioned in other posts below it is inexcusable that the video instructions are wrong! It's now end Dec 2020 and the video was first posted end Sep 2020 and many other have commented to the fact that the in the video there is no mention of adding the sample to test! In your video you suggest you start with 5ml of Reagent A and draw off 10ml of test sample which is obviously impossible. Please fix this video ASP so that others can correctly use and get the benefit of your test kit.
Is it 4ml or 5ml of reagent A. Not the quantity level the dropper, what is the actual volume of reagent A I need? I get either 0.0 or >5 depending if I use 4ml of A or 5ml of A.
Ridiculous, they show you a video that is not complete. They go from 4ML, sucking out up to 10 ML If you can have a video like this please do it correctly. What a bunch of crap
People are so overreacting, yes it takes 8 minutes for the actual clock to run down. In the mean time do an alkalinity test or a calcium test. I do this all the time. I don't just check one test at a time, sitting around. Right now I am doing the nyos nitrate test and during the 5 minutes wait, I do my hanna phosphate test. Organize and you can do all your test quickly.
the Red Sea test takes like 10 minutes and has three steps and it is so hard to read the result because the shade of pink. I don't think this is that complicated. Amazing for people that are colorblind as well!
I spoke to Hanna rep last Friday the 25th and he confirmed it is ONLY for saltwater. I'm bummed, as I have several freshwater tanks as well as my salt. Back to the drawing board!
This is insane, and totally missed the mark. Once people watch this, they will just buy another Nyos Kit. Complete fail, they aligned with Red Sea as the test times, and colors of reagents look similar. The ease of checkers are what makes them attractive. Wholesalers should be let down.
I would like to know when you say the first step "Using the 10 ml syringe, measure exactly 7 ml of sample into the large mixing vial" I have really always liked Hanna's tests and I have all of them, I did the preorder before the sale started and I already have it a few days ago. But I have been very disappointed so far. As the plastic tip of the 5 ml syringe also falls off, it does not hold because the hole is wider, and the metal tip cover was not in the package either, although it seems that this cover is important. What a disappointment.
I was really excited about this product but it turns out to be such a disappointment. Way too many steps compared to other Nitrate test kits and this only reads 0-5 ppm without even more steps to dilute the sample. I'll be sticking to my current nitrate kit until they update the product and make it much simpler such as their Alkalinity and ULR Phosphate checkers. Also listen to your users, they want tablet form reagent rather than trying to deal with getting all of the powder out of the cracks of the packaging.
I think this is very well done to give us a digital nitrate measurement. In Short (Take water sample, Put Liquid Reagent A in, Put Powder Reagent B in. Filter with syringe, put in meter, remove 8 minutes later and add another powder. Done) To measure 5-50 here's the dilution. In Short (Put sample in, add freshly mixed saltwater, Put 7 ml of mix in vial and do the normal test) BOOM!
SaltwaterAquarium that explanation is oversimplified. This process is materially slower than that of other nitrate test kits. Adding a sample to a vial and then removing the sample and then adding it back into the vial is cumbersome at best. I realize you are in the business of selling this product and therefore not surprised by a lack of objectivity but saying nothing would be a better approach on this specific product than damaging your credibility and promoting an inferior product from an otherwise excellent company.
@@bgoldb21 Yea maybe it's an oversimplification. I would love for the test to be add a reagent, hit a button and boom you have a number. But the reality is this is the first digital test on the market for nitrate and I don't think having a few steps is a big deal. I think maybe Hanna spoiled us with how easy to use some of their checkers are. There are definitely some tests out there that are harder to complete successfully then this.
The instructions in this video is different than the paper included instructions with the checker. Also, my checker did not include the needle for the syringe.
Sam Malone why do you care about my comment? I care because I am a hobbyist who loves Hanna products and I hope they see my feedback as motivation (as small as it may be) to continue working on this and produce a better nitrate checker. And when companies like @SaltwaterAquarium post comments that misrepresent a product, the consumer ultimately loses.
I though people in the comments were being overly dramatic about the convoluted nature of this test, but nope. I like your Dkh checker and salinity, he’ll I might even get the phosphorus one but this? Lol
Wow I ordered got mine, but like everyone else says, to many steps wow, I thought the calcium checker had to many steps. Lol I guess since I got it might try it after I see about 10 more videos, “Eat Sleep Reef” help me a lot on his video on the calcium, maybe he will make a video on this one, I’m hoping ✨ if not guess I paid for it just to look at it 😂 I do like all the Hanna checkers it has help me a lot, but pretty expensive to do a test on any of them, your looking at at least 1.00 a test which isn’t bad but will add up over time.
It's been said a couple of times but they really need to redo this video. They completely left off when and how much sample water to add. After watching this video I can probably figure out the included instructions better but this video is trash. If I followed it to a T I would be testing pure reagent
I'm pretty sure this is missing a step. It doesn't mention anything about adding the other 7ml of sample water before the 4ml of reagent 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I was just saying the same thing and as complicated as this thing is I wish I would have saved my money.
I got to the end and said wait when do I add the sample water??? They so missed the step!
Ah so that's why my nitrates have never gotten above 0.
It's such a complicated process they couldn't even capture it all in the video!
Yea I was thinking the same
I was having a relaxing morning at home just now and thought “hey, why don’t I check my tank’s nitrate level with my new Hanna Nitrate checker.” I then opened up the box, then opened
up the instruction booklet and thought “it will probably be less of a hassle to just scrub algae clean off of each rock in my tank than to do this test.”
GREEGO lmao I hear ya
So Tru
Props for your alk checker but man, this is crazy convoluted😆

Agreed. And still waiting 8 minutes for a result? I think I'll just stick with my Red Sea kit.
Couldn’t be more well stated Brad
It’s a total fail
This is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ease of use 😂😂😂
It may be a few steps but for people like me that are color blind this is super helpful. I do wish it was easier but I can never tell the different shades on the card tests.
it dont matter unless you have sps tank

Thanks for the video so I can avoid uv saved me money on ordering one way too many steeps not seen one good review

Who sells the reagents cant find them anywhere
That’s one of the reasons I don’t use my calcium checker and now you have this more complicated? Nonway
When you add the sample , how much ? The video only mention adding 4ml reagent A
It's missing from the video, but in the paper. Add 7ml using the 10ml seringe.
Ridiculous, they show you a video that is not complete. They go from 4ML, sucking out up to 10 ML
If you can have a video like this please do it correctly. What a bunch of crap
The filter disc , how many times , could be used ? How many test is posdible to do with the test package ?
We recommend that a new filter disk is used every time you run a test.

This is a 20 minute test lmao. They should’ve just aligned with Nyos and used a check to read their clarity
How many ml of water from your aquarium did I use?
5ml there's a line on the side of the vial. I couldn't figure that part out at first either
The line is 10 ml
can you reuse the filter discs ?
No
Thank god i saw this. Definitely wont be buying this hunk of crap. They legit have a filter 🤣🤣🤣
I was wanting a nitrate Hanna checker so badly. Now I don't want it anymore.
More expensive should be for less hassle, not the opposite.
My PhD thesis is shorter than this
lmao

Too complicated!
Whats price in India and distributors details where i get it from?
does this work with fresh water aquariums too or would I have to wait for a different nitrate checker?
I spoke to Hanna rep last Friday the 25th and he confirmed it is ONLY for saltwater. I'm bummed, as I have several freshwater tanks as well as my salt. Back to the drawing board!
Where to buy
Test strips for me

Yes, either a tablet form or a jar with a measuring spoon would even be ideal. I'm sick of the pouches.

They didn't even tell you how much sample water to use. Way to complicated to not be accurate.
5ml it's a line on the side of the vial. I was stumped at first too lol.
I am only hear because when I opened my box and saw all that stuff the only words I could think of was good grief. This is intimidating.
Very labour intensive. Going to stick with the API.

this is hot garbage like the calcium checker, no thanks!

I miss that part
Acuario Marino me too, they already had there’s in there I’m going to have to watch about 10 more videos just to feel comfortable using mine lol
Trop d’étapes... je vais continuer avec mes test salifert
Whoever came up with this needs to be fired
Waaaaaayyyyyyyyyy complicated and toooooooooo much time! Make one like the alk checker, and it will fly off the shelves
1. 8 min timer ⏲️ 😄
2. low rang lol

Ok so after watching this video I think I just purchased something I won't be using Phophate checker great Alk checker love it. This here is just sad
salifert is more easy hahaha

👎🏻
Hahahahahaha. What a load of junk. I won’t be buying this. Jeez someone actually signed this off! Nope thank you
