Excellent piece of kit 5-10 mins I got almost identical readings on 3 try’s , I checked all my tanks (4) and was completely happy with the results thank you
Hi, At the moment, there is no Nitrate Checker in the works. We are aware of the need, and for now, are working on getting a chart for customers to calculate. We're hoping that this will be something to happen in the future! If you havent already, subscribe to the Hanna Channel and keep up to date with new product videos and announcements!
HELP! I follow your instructions to the T. I use rodi water to clean my used cuvette. But I always get really high results! I have re checked using other brand calcium test kits and also get my water tested by my LFS. Why would I always be getting results in the mid to high 500 ppm mark when every other test shows 400-450ppm? Could this be a faulty checker!?!
So the first Cuvette is distilled water and second part is completely filled with tank water. These directions are confusing without good instructions.
Hey there. We don't typically recommend those chemicals on the cuvettes. For most purposes, simple distilled water works fine. For a more thorough cleaning, Hanna Instruments has cuvette cleaning solutions.
Don't get me wrong I like the Hannah Checkers but just seems way complicated just to check your calcium I think the salifert test is a whole lot easier and I have also heard they have problems with accuracy with the Hanna calcium
@@thomasmccaffery5941 many hobby grade reverse osmosis deionized water systems may not adequately remove calcium. This can vary based on the types of filters used, their effectiveness and frequency of replacement. We recommend using deionized water with low conductivity or pure vapor distilled water so you can be sure you're using pure water. We sell DI water by the gallon on our site here, hannainst.com/deionized-water-1g.html You can also find DI water in most pharmacies.
This shit does not come with everything you need. It’s a terrible sale. They give you a product without all its tools. This also needs Deionized water. Which is sold as a double shot on websites for $20, or gallon on Deionized water. The RO water or distilled water gives you whacked numbers not accurate
Hey Deon! Where did you buy your Checker from? The kit comes complete with all reagents, cuvettes, and pipettes. The DI Water from Hanna is definitely recommended, but you can find a gallon in your local grocery store for a couple dollars as well. That should last you near a lifetime! What was your kit missing?
I think if you compare the accuracy of this Checker to comparable meters in the market, that 50$ mark is pretty awesome! But definitely, you're right. There is no DI water or cloth in the kit. These items are really easily accessible, and for most in the industry, you might already have these items. I love the feedback though, and definitely hope you'll contact us through our website to address your concerns.
Hanna Instruments, Inc. I love my Alkalinity Hanna Checker and most definitely suggest all new saltwater keepers and Veteran fish keeper (-more experienced) get one! For this Particular Hanna Calcium Checker I cannot. I get a different response from the READING it’s always different. I used my RO water and it was 548; then I went to purchase regular Distilled water from the grocery store for $2 buck and it read blinking 600 I’m so upset 😭 I can’t even get this $50 product to work... I drove one hour to get these tools from “That Fish Place” in Lancaster PA
Deon, did you buy the kit directly from us? New kits come with our micro pipette which is a really helpful tool in getting that .01mL of sample. Also, you can try some of these tips which many have found helpful; Make sure the meniscus is at the 10mL line. Looking at it from a flat surface, there is a bend in the water. The bottom of that bend is where you want it to be. Also, because the glass is curved, face the cuvette the same way through each phase. Best way to do this is to have the 10mL facing outward so you know it's always facing that way. As you know, wiping it with a cloth is important. And also be sure that all the packet reagent is going into the sample. If all this fails you, contact tech@hannainst.com. We'll get this working for you!

can we use in pure seawater ?
Why was her sample RED? Mine is blue!!!
You had higher calcium
they need to go back and make this process easier, what a pain if one is gonna be testing frequently.
How do we get access to the new .1ml pipette? I have the original Marine calcium checker
Hey Jim,
The pipette can be found right on hannainst.com/graduated-pipette-100-l-hi731339p.html
Vocês da Hanna não fabrica Checker de Cálcio pra água Doce não?
Can I use this for my pool, frsh water? Chlorine sanitizer
what is the "sample" we are inserting with the micro pipette? Is this just more distilled water?
What are you trying to test? Distilled water or tank water? That is your sample
@@MrKlumZhahahahhahaha💀😂😂😂😂
Please make these videos for ALL your checkers! There is not one for magnesium. This is so much easier for your customers!
Thank you for your feedback! We will consider this. We are also glad to hear that the videos help!
can we use it to determine blood calcium ?
Is it possible to make a Marine Nitrate checker? Would something like that be in the works.

Yes to measure NO3 would be great!
Welcome to the future where we now have a marine nitrate checker

Did you ever get an answer? I’m going through the same thing
Same here!!!!
Have you checked your rodi to make sure there’s no dissolved solids? Maybe try using rodi as the sample and see if there’s a calcium reading
Mine is always in the 550 ppm and I will do 3 tests from a different source and always at 430-440. Pretty dumb device.
my reading i got my first time is 509, that sound about right to you?
Lol how would we guess what your water is
I feel like I need to be a lab tech just to check calcium levels lol
And by the time you finish testing, you'll graduate from college, and start a family
Less than five minutes.
Check the Hanna Nitrate 😂

no
Can I clean the cuvette with methylene chloride then methanol?

Hanna Instruments, Inc. thank you. Can i purchased the solution on your website.
Sure can!
"with everything you need to start testing" still searching for the screwdriver

For the second step distilled water cant see the 10ml mark on pipette..
Hi Thomas! For the second step, you would want to use the 10mL mark on the Cuvette to know you've used the right amount.
@@HannaInc Ok you have to use distilled water and not rodi water?

@@thomasmccaffery5941 It may be worth trying both your RODI water and some distilled water so you can compare the results.
Hello I do all this steps and I get different results tired😓😡
Try salifert
to long ,if longer than a normal test,no need it, calcium test are normally so easy.., the alcalinity test is good but this one..
