So many damn steps! And I really wish they'd get rid of those square reagent packets... They need to go with sugar packet style packaging for ease of pouring.
I was going to order one but than I downloaded the instructions from Hanna and have up. The Salifert will do just fine. I do have the Alk and the Phosphorus ULR checkers which I do like, as well as the Calcium that I simply stopped using due to the number of steps. The NO3 has 1) to many steps 2) horrible reagent packets to deal with. Replacing at least one with a liquid reagent would be soooooo much better.
thank you for doing this video I have been using the redsea pro test kit and it works but am I at 2 or 4 was my big thing with it with this one I got a 1.45 was very happy thanks again
We will have reagents soon. New filters are part of the reagent kit - www.saltwateraquarium.com/hi781-25-marine-nitrate-checker-reagents-25-tests-hanna-instruments/
It reminds me of using the Red Sea Iodine test kit with the filter paper etc - I think I used it six times before I got bored with all the steps an the time it took. Oh and every step is another opportunity for user error as it showed in the zero reading you got 😂😂
Unfortunally i bought this checker, wid out watch first a review. As soon as i opened it, ive seen the trouble that a reefer should go through jus to chek nitrate.. I decided to do not use it and resell asap! Neway name of the song heard min. 3:43 plz?
Your review saved me a few dollars. What's the cost for replacing filter and solution. Salifert or Nyos sounds like they still the winners. When it comes to Nitrates test
the calcium checker gets a bad wrap imo. just dilute reagent 1, check. add sample and reagent 2, sake. check second time. no wait times, not too bad. I was looking forward to this test, but I think I'll stick with nyos.
Ok a few extra steps, not fun but come on its not difficult to do and I bet a lot more accurate. I am assuming here the filter paper needs replaced after each test?
They tried to get me a Hanna nitrate checker and I said...No No No! Lol. No to their calcium checker too. I LOVE their ALK and Phosphorus checkers though 👍.
To me the easiest tests are api! Just not low range and some people say not reliable. I just bought red sea alk, mag, and calcium. dont like it and dont care for salifert nitrate and phosphate. Dont like dealing with power scoops for one thing and the drops tend to squirt out sometime!
We have more planned. Basically for the dilution you water down your tank sample with freshly mixed saltwater. That's really it. Then you just run the normal test.
@@Saltwateraquariumdotcom oh that's awesome! I was pretty much just wondering if it was fresh SW or ro! Stoked to get mine! The steps don't intimidate me I use a calc checker hahaha
Accuracy can't justify price and time what this test require. Not big deal if my no3 is 1.3 or 3.4. Still salifert is my number one. However i love alk and phosphate ulr checkers, using them twice a week
So you had ZERO nitrate in that system? Maybe but seems a little suspect considering everytime Ive run my new Hanna Nitrate checker its also coming back 0.19 or 0.22 even after dosing Nitrate. Other tests reading around 2.5-3 ppm nitrate. Not sure I trust this hanna checker
OMG! No way! Why would anyone pay 50 bucks for something with so many steps? I was going to order a hanna alkaliniy checker. Hope it isnt as difficult! My best friend is my hanna salinity checker!
Personally I would rather have an accurate result than doing a less involved test and getting a vague reading. Its not too much work, its not work at all, its your hobby, your passion?
When you say water from your tank instructions says i have to use 1ml water from my tank and rest use clean salt water You have to read the instructions, make sure you use clean salt water other wise your test will come out wrong
0.00 nitrate??? i know your mr saltwater but... dont think so! gotta have some nitrates in any marine aquarium with livestock of any kind. the nitrogen cycle is always happening as long as something is eating.
Ha! No thanks! Nyos test kit has 2 steps, less wait and easy to read.and only £20. No one needs to know if Nitrates are 3 or 3.2. Make a hanna checker with a range of 0 to 50 with 1 step only then I will consider changing. Checkers are £75 in the UK. No Way.
So many damn steps! And I really wish they'd get rid of those square reagent packets... They need to go with sugar packet style packaging for ease of pouring.
I will pass this on to Hanna to see if we can get a long term plan together to make a change. We agree.
@@Saltwateraquariumdotcom thank you! Seems like a fairly simple change and would make a number of their tests much easier and quicker!
@@MakerofThingss We agree 100%!
Agreed, those packets are horrible, I use them on the phosphate kit
Yes tablets would be nice, however I doubt there is a binding agent that could be used that would not effect the end result. But I am no chemist.
Too much work, will just stay with my nyos test kit

Hanna got a lot of work to do 😂 this is to much work and salifer works great.
Yeah. I’m sticking with my sali. Plus my daughter likes to compare what she thinks the results are with the Salifert.
I use the whole line of Hanna checkers. Can’t wait to add this test kit to my collection. 👍
And do you have to get new filter paper

Where can I get the reagent for it
My checker only says c1 and I’m not sure how to switch to c2
Thanks for the video

Wow, yeah not gonna deal with all that. It's not like your nitrates have to be super spot on anyway.
The instructions look just as complicated as the calcium checker, debating returning my pre-order.
Just return it, Nyos test kit is great
the calcium checker gets a bad wrap imo. just dilute reagent 1, check. add sample and reagent 2, sake. check second time. no wait times, not too bad. I was looking forward to this test, but I think I'll stick with nyos.
No thanks, way to many steps. ill also stick to the nyos
Works for me! I'm colorblind and color charts are super confusing and I'm tired of bugging the wife. I have their entire line up for saltwater
Wow make about 100 more videos so I feel comfortable using mine
Ok a few extra steps, not fun but come on its not difficult to do and I bet a lot more accurate.

I’d take this over red sea all day. I’m excited for it. The redsea nitrate test is never consistent for me so I went back to api
I want to wait until more people try it and figure out the issues and see if it's longevity checks out.
Don’t the tester only stay on for 15 minutes?
Wen u have a 3yo daughter who comes in and out of the fish room while asking questions and climbing on things . I havent got time for this checker!
Reefers dont like overcomplicated test.neyo test is more simple and accurate too.
Thank you so much! As the video from Hannah didn’t make any sense!
yeah rightttttttttt. no way LOL

No way that I would do all that. That’s a nightmare. Go with Nyos kit
SAlifert.. way much easier to use and cheaper per test
Seems like a pain to do but i guess better then color charts if your semi color blind
Accuracy can't justify price and time what this test require. Not big deal if my no3 is 1.3 or 3.4. Still salifert is my number one. However i love alk and phosphate ulr checkers, using them twice a week

Alkalinity way easier. Just add 1ml reagent to sample.
@@revo1336 cool! Think I iwill get one. I just got a red sea with calcium and magnesium too but defiently dont like the alkalinity!

Yeah not going to deal with all that, to many steps when i can just use my salifert that takes like 4 minutes to completely finish
Wow
Too much work
I do use the calcium/ phosphorus/ alkalinity ones though which are brilliant
Salifert, Elos, Redsea so much easier no thanks
No thanks. Salifert or Nyos will stay on my shelf.
Screw that. Salifert is good enough.
By your review it sounds like to many steps. Especially fast and easy reading from salifert. I'll pass on this test.
Hard pass. Super involved. You could do 2 or 3 of the color tests in the time it takes you to do 1 of these. Thank you for the info.
0.00 nitrate??? i know your mr saltwater but... dont think so! gotta have some nitrates in any marine aquarium with livestock of any kind. the nitrogen cycle is always happening as long as something is eating.
