  • First of a series reviewing components that are currently available...or were at the time of the videos :( First up is Peterson 308 Winchester Brass with Small Rifle Primer Pockets. Initial testing shows some high pressure signs using known loads...not max loads. More testing to be done with once fired brass.

I have had some luck finding Peterson .308 LRP at Brownell's. No range time on them yet though. Thank you for the video..

To be fair I know nothing of Palma or whatever these were for, I just want brass I can find primers for and I can still find american small rifle primers. Whereas Large rifle primers I'm pretty well stuck buying Bosnian primers and they are a bitch to seat. Think I'll try these out, nice to see they are annealed and machined to such precise tolerances.

I just got 100 Peterson cases in .270 Winchester for $100. I like that they do not polish after annealing so you can see the anneal. (Lapua does not make brass for .270 Win).
Using a tube micrometer, case neck thickness variation was less than 0.001", so I don't think neck turning would be a substantial improvement in these cases.

Thanks for the info. I’m betting the same on neck turning but will turn them just to see. Appreciate the comments!

Because of large rifle priming all gone I bought the Peterson 308 small primer brass.
I found using small rifle primers of all of them even the small rifle 450 magnums the hang fires are terrible or hearing the firing pin drop then delayed firing happens.
It didn't matter also what powders I used the hang fires and delayed firing never stopped.
I am glad I only bought 1 box of small rifle primer 308 brass because it is a danger to use.
I had firing so delayed after waiting I lowered the gun then went off blasting a hole in the ground and splattering me with dirt.

Those CCI small rifle 450 magnums should be hotter flame than those CCI 41.
From my experience it is way too dangerous to be using small rifle primer on large power charges - the cartridge that when off even after a long wait and lowering the AR 10 then blowing a big hole in the ground in front of my feet that was it no more of that./ I tried Winchester - Remington - Federal all cause hang fired and delayed firing you hear the firing pin hit the cartridge primer then a delay and fire !.
I had hang fires where I raised my head looking like OK is this going off or not then Bang !@@Hazzbro1964
