Biff Byford has an unique voice. He'ss a baritone with a natural metalic tone to his voice and he's able to reach very high notes with fullness but also quite low notes that are surprising for his tone. His vibrato is also unique, he sings, you know it's Saxon on stage. And he took care of his chords and breath power well, his voice almost didn't change with age.

Oh man you're going to get sick of this. You want to hear my Saxon story you know I got one. I saw this very same tour as well I saw Saxon an Accept at the San Francisco Warfield theater. It was fucking amazing. The rumor that I heard going around that night that it was accepts first American show. And being in San Francisco Bay area at the time you have to understand what is and isn't cool. At all the cool kids were there to see Accept. But I went to see both bands. Accept was phenomenal that's all I can say. they were touring balls to the . then they drop the back curtains and holy fuck the Saxon Stage had that big backline the fucking Castle the whole nine yards fucking Iron Eagle.Biff comes out right after he says Crusader for the first time all the stage power failed. All you could hear was the drums the drummer finished out the rest of the song about halfway through. The band left the stage for an hour and a half. And let me tell you kids San Francisco metal crowds in the 80s we're not polite if you did not give them what they want when they wanted it. So about 45 minutes into standing in the Darkness. The crowd begins to chat Warfield sucks Warfield sucks the name of the venue. Then they start yelling Saxon Sucks Saxon Sucks Saxon Sucks. And then we waited for what seemed a lifetime and then they reappeared from the darkness and Biff said we were going to get the best Saxon show of Our Lives the whole catalog extended medleys the whole nine yards it was fucking fantastic. 15 minute version of Dallas 1 p.m. Uhn freaking real man. I'd like to tell you more but since it was over 34 years ago and I think I was about 18 or 19 I don't have many memories except those and I do have a stack of 35 mm paper photographs that I was fond of taking at these heavy metal shows. and believe me don't get it twisted this was a fucking Saxon show! But when that announcer said San Francisco would you please welcome for the first time in San Francisco from Germany accept and they ripped into fast as a shark that fucking place blew up like I had never seen Saxon was very good that night not saying accept blew them away but it was fucking epic!!
I saw them on this tour at Sheffield City Hall UK no kidding the guy next to me his ear started bleeding that's how loud it was. As I remember the Loudness a Japanese ban were the support band
This is such a Great band... Wondering if you might consider doing a video with *UFO or LEGS DIAMOND, or MOXY.* All of which are fantastic bands... I grew up with all these great ones. *Saxon* is f√¢k¡πg AWESOME!!
