- Today we are going back in time with a christian metal band I had never heard of Bride the band Bride have been around a long time, and the fantastic fellow Jeff knew all about them he said you gotta checkout " Heores from Bride off of the Live to Die album, so that's what we are gonna do!
Bride was an American Christian metal band formed in the 1980s, by brothers Dale and Troy Thompson. During the band's peak years it was known for covering a wide range of musical styles and remains popular in places like Brazil. Their song "Same 'Ol Sinner" is on the Digital Praise PC game Guitar Praise

Great job funnnnny. Love the lamb sacrifice. ..loloooo
HAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
I was actually the bass player on that album . The crazy sound at the end was a joke . The producer would wake us up in the morning .There was a grand piano laying on its side and he would pluck the strings and do his Yoko Ono impression lol .There was along pause so he could slip it by the record company . It worked and made it out for production . Thanks for covering the tune
Figured. But thanks for certain it up for certain.
Cool story! Well, that crazy sound at the end literally scared the hell out of me!
Hey Frank, I'm a big fan of Bride. I have every album. I even have Matrix. Thanks for the music. God bless brother.
Rattlesnakes in the playground was my FAVORITE album!❤
I just bought the Snakes Demo CD that was recently released. VERY GOOD!
The best Rock Voice EVER. No one else could do this high pitch
Soo True! Operatic! Dale Thompson stands in a class all his own.
Michael Sweet from Stryper is better
"Heroes" is one of my all times favorite tracks!!! Thanks for doing this
As in most Christian rock/metal releases from that era, the production suffered from lack of budget. But for most of us, we were just thankful there was something other than Bill Gaither available in the Christian music world. I saw Bride 7 times in concert. I see many comments on here about the singer/song/band isn't that great. But trust me, if you were ever able to see Bride in concert, and you liked hard rock/metal, you would be a fan. In fact, if Dale hadn't followed God's call on his life to be in a Christian band and had been in a secular band instead, Dale Thompson would be a household name. Phenomenal vocalist. I have over 15,000 albums in my collection of all genres and Dale is easily in my top 10 for singers.
i saw them live twice and they out on an amazing show. unfortunately a lot of christian metal bands from the late 80s to mid 90s didnt get the recognition they deserved. some of the heavier christian bands were ahead of the secular bands in terms of heaviness. i listen to all types of music from 60 and 70s rock to christian to deicide and everything in between. the religious views of the bands never really concern me as long as the music is good and i can jam to it ill listen to it
I think he's very annoying on the Live to Die album, but got better on Silence is Madness
Christian music industry especially Christian metal was under budget and not nearly as big as it has grown over the years since the 80's and 90's.. Stryper and Petra truly opened alot of big doors for groups like Bride ...I love their deeply thought out Christian message
Dale can preach and do vocal solo.
There's actually an interview where Dale talks about wanting to play bluegrass instead!
aqui no Brasil é simplesmente a melhor banda de rock cristã e o melhor vocal de todos os tempos.. Brasil ama Bride sempre
One other tidbit of interest
When Michael left Stryper, Dale did one concert with them and was rumored to be the next singer for Stryper.
Bride is still making music to this day.
Dale was one of the only singers at the time that could easily match Michael note for note and do so effortlessly. The "rumor" about Dale becoming the new lead singer of Stryper was Robert Sweet jumping the gun during an impromptu interview, this was after the concert where Dale filled in for the absent Michael. lt came as a surprise to Dale who heard it announced elsewhere that he was to be the new lead singer of Stryper and also came as a shock to the other members of Bride who also heard that same news, but Dale quickly cleared things up saying that although the idea had been discussed with the remaining members of Stryper that they were not able to come to an agreement on the style of sound that the band would carry forth which can be easily understood if you look/listen to what Bride was coming out with shortly after Dale filling in with Stryper, but in addition to that Dale also stated that another reason he would not become Stryper's new lead singer besides the difference in stylistic direction was that Dale was fully invested in to what Bride was set to release over the next few albums as they were also getting ready to start new road tours to support the new releases. After word got back to Robert of Dale denying the rumor, Stryper saw the writting on the wall and called it quits after playing a few more concerts that were already scheduled with Oz Fox filling in lead vocals. lt does make one wonder though, where both Stryper and Dale as the lead singer would have gone.

Saw Bride open for Stryper in Tulsa Oklahoma about 1993. Dale Thompson came out and did a song with Stryper and there were rumors of him being the possible new singer for Stryper. Bride's Kinetic Faith and especially Snakes in the playground are phenomenal. However after being a fan since 1990 I'd have to say their earlier stuff like the live to die album and silence is madness are my favorites now.
Dale had an amazing voice and style. Troy played a sweet vintage hollow body and some of the coolest and most unique tones and effects. Fantastic song writer in the day. What I can't figure out is how come so few bands can keep writing relevant awesome music for decades after decades. I mean there are exceptions like U2 but even they are dried up now. It seems like there's some kind of specialness about a band and an era. I'm sure you can think of your own bands that had a two to six to eight maybe even 10 to 12 year time where they were awesome and then they kept going but sucked after a while.
Megadeth comes to mind as one that still writes awesome music. But not all of it sure it's technical and played perfectly but it doesn't have the specialness of skin of my teeth or peace sells.
Maybe we're all just getting old.
Best Christian metal album of all time! Along with snakes in the playground! Heroes Anthem of Christian metal.
I have seen Bride play live 7 times and have all of their music! One of the best!!!
I saw them 7 times as well. They were amazing!!!
Bride é a banda mais famosa de Whitemetal no Brasil, tem uma legião de fans. Abraço do Brasil.
Enjoyed the video, man. Bride was my favorite band as a pre-teen/early teen. This was my favorite album of theirs, but loved all of the early albums. Silence Is Madness, Show No Mercy, Kinetic Faith, and Snakes In The Playground were also all amazing. Just lost track of them later in the 90's. Looking back, I hear and see a lot of similarities to Crazy Train in this song. I don't mean to knock it, I think I like Heroes more, but the main riff and chorus and base of the song feels pretty inspired. As a youngster, in the early 90's, I ordered some of their older albums/cassette tapes directly from them. They sent them to me with a handwritten message from either Dale or Troy-very cool that they did that
Thanks my friend, happy to have you around, I hope all is well with you!
WE all bought BRIDE music when they first came out, in 1986 , before they got signed on a record label, they were called MATRIX and were releasing cassette tapes. I have all their CDs. they are big in BRAZIL, check out their KINETIC FAITH cd and their UNDER THE GUN LIVE SOUNDTRACK,(IN BRAZIL) CD. That Brazil concert is on RUclips
I grew up listening to this band and still listen to them from time to time although I'm not a Chtistian anymore. Dale Thompson has one of the best voices in all of metal. They are a band who has changed their sound with every album. Their best stuff is their classic metal period from about 1986 to 1994. Then they went bluegrass then grunge then rapcore.
I don’t remember any bluegrass...
@@jesseedmondson2861 In the very beginning, as in before they even became Matrix, they played bluegrass/southern gospel in and around the regional area of Kentucky.
@@4themusicman I never knew that
@@jesseedmondson2861 I'm sure what Aaron is referring to though is the fact that Dale released a couple of bluegrass albums under his own name. It wasn't connected to Bride. But as I mentioned already, bluegrass was in Dale's blood from the beginning. That's probably part of the reason Bride had Greg Martin of The Kentucky Headhunters do a guest appearance on Snakes in the Playground. Kind of as an homage.
@@4themusicman What I'm referring to is the 1995 or 96 Bride album Drop, which to this day is probably the only time I've ever heard bluegrass and grunge combined.
You can see hitting those ultra high notes of this song in a live appearance of the band from 1988 on youtube
there album silence is madness is really good
Have that LP on vinyl. They include a great bonus track: Same Ol' Sinner
My all time favorite band been a fan for almost 30 years. They never stuck too one style. They most recently released Here is Your God. Angelic Warlord named it album of the year. It is amazing.
I was a huge fan of Bride back in the day! I have. all there albums up untill 1996! Saw them live. Once! Great band!
Bride is a very great rock metal band, Dale Thomson have a amazing voice
"Snakes in the Playground" is a cult classic album and, in my opinion, their best work. My band didn't get as heavy as them, but we all loved them and got to meet them at the release party for their "Oddities" tour. A fantastic band and down-to-Earth, their style changed in the '90s, but it's all good.
I absolutely loved this album back when I discovered it in the early 90s. I still do!
This is my favourite Bride song of all time.
I’ve enjoyed Bride (their first album) Now I just found them again . Liking it
Great job! resaltar estas bandas clasicas con gran talentos en el metal cristiano
True metal never dies!
Saw Bride and Barren Cross 7 times each LIVE! Both are awesome bands. Saw Stryper back in the day in 86 as well. Their early stuff was kinda of Thrashy when they were Matrix. Some good stuff as well..
If my memory serves correctly, I believe Dale Thompson of Bride stated the "weirdness" at the end was the band cutting up in the studio via a "Yoko Ono" impersonation. Regardless, "Live to Die" is arguably the band's best album from their early power metal years. In the Dark... Out for Blood... Fire and Brimstone... The album contains several gems.
you are correct
@@frankpartipilo5477 You rocked the bass on those albums, Frank! Thank you for the great music! -Kent
Love bride! This was my favorite song by them back in the day, all of their stuff is good!
The vocals and music for this album was amazing back then and it still is amazing today!
Bride is one of my all time favorite bands, and this is one of my all time favorite albums lol. Great song!! One of the most EPIC songs you'll EVER Hear
Yes Bride Band Is A Christian Band And Still Making Music Today 1986 - Present
My father actually did the artwork for Scarecrow Messiah
Unfortunately Bride and their record label were fighting at the time so it never was properly released and it had a generic album cover.
And Yes One Bad Pig is a Christian Punk Band
Love the Pig!!
That's cool about your dad and Scarecrow. That album was ok for me. Kind of a letdown from Snakes but it was alright.
Great reaction video. I dug how you gave backround info before playing the song, did the song justice.
This band is amazing!!!! Always had a great original type sound.♥️♥️♥️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love Bride! Saw them live twice. They’ve gone through some major stylistic changes over the years, but I love this album through Snakes in the Playground.
I have the cover of this album tattooed on my arm that's how much I love this band!
Wow really? That’s so cool! I just gave «Live To Die» and SIM a spin🤩🤩
Good choice
Yes it's a great tattoo 😀
Thank you 👍
That art has been used by many bands too. Magnificent piece.
Found this album on a cassette. Never heard of them. I bought it and happy I did.
fera demaisss, é a melhor banda na minha opinião!
Bride é bandassassa demais...... Magníficos trabalhos, muitos álbuns fulls,e obras prefeitas..... Excelente postagem! Existem inúmeras e grandes nomes de expressão no White Metal! Recomendo uma referência Brutal que é a Banda Paramaecium Christian Death Metal/Doom Metal. Uma obra prima!
I love Bride, my favourite album is Snakes in the playgroun, Live to die, Show no mercy and Silence is madness, i love Heroes, and the voice of Dale Tomson.
I was at a Christian music festival called the Cornerstone music festival in 2001. Bride was there. I didn’t get to see them because there was a other band that I had to see. They were playing the same time as Bride. But I went to the tent after they played. I got to meet them! They were very cool guys! I was a huge fan of Bride back in the day! I think I stopped listling to them in 1997 or 98.
Bride are so good! One of the best metal bands ever.
Dale Thompson is insane on this album
What their early album lack was production. For low budget recordings, they pulled it together.
Honoured by Brazil mentionning at description. It's true what is writed.
I've seen Bride live in Recife for two* of 4 or 5 times they were here. Was amazing.
*"SOS da vida" (2001) and "Recife agosto de rock" (2005)
Bride baby!! 🤘🏻 saw them live in the mid 90s at the Kings Place in Ohio
I saw Bride at King's Place too. I miss King's Place so much. I'm from Cincinnati and would make the trip on a regular basis.
Love this band. Dale’s vocals are up there with anyone ever/ Christian or secular. Tough call between this album and snakes as my favourite.
Fun Fact: I mailed them a letter back when this album came out asking about a background lyric. They wrote me a personal letter back and sent me a few post cards after that. Very cool!
That's awesome!
@@ShaneDiablo It was, and I didn't have to lie to the band to get it either. LOL
Long life.huge fan from Venezuela. For me this is the best Rock and Metal Voixe of all times
Um dos melhores álbuns de heavy metal da história!! Bride Live to die
Ending was glorious. Me and my dad were crying laughing at your reaction
That means the world to me my friend, I love the idea of you and Dad hangin' out and rockin' with me.
This band is awesome!!
Bride is 100% Christian good ol Dale Thompson !! love this song Heroes
Dale has an exceptional vocal range. One of the best in Christian Metal.
This is a old classic album from Bride, when they were doing heavy metal; before they went to hard rock and alternative styles. Heroes, IMO, is the best song on the album; next to Metal Might, and Hell No, also Thunder In the City.
Bride dá hora 👏🙌
Love the Snakes Album. Their albums were good during that era, once we get to drop in the mid 90's things took a big downturn. Dale does have some newer stuff I do like though.
I have always put Bride up there on the same level as Stryper and POD. I think the thing that helped Stryper was some of their earlier stuff. Songs like Honestly got more airplay. Though not a hard metal, but rather a ballad, it still gained them popularity. However, the songs I Miss The Rain and Goodbye are right up there with Honestly and First Love in my book.
I just subbed. As Christian who loves metal I appreciate your vid
welcome!
Cool ! I imagined "Beef" was talking at the beginning and saw him walking out at The Paradise for a few secs !
The beginning of this song reminds me of the beginning of the song Silence Is Madness from the album of the same name.
Heroes is just epic.
Bride is one of my favorite Christian metal bands. I recommend that you react to more of Bride. Listen and react to the following songs: Under the Influence - Bride. Until the End We Rock - Bride. Fool Me Eleven - Bride. Everybody Knows My Name - Bride. Snakes In The Playground - Bride. Don't Use Me - Bride. Psychedelic Super Jesus (Live in Brazil) - Bride. From this last live I leave you the link, you will not regret it. ruclips.net/video/qw0g4lXfC6A/видео.html
I was literally looking to see if this link had been shared yet. Thanks.
Bride is an incredibly group and the progression in their next few albums was evident...
Nice request Jeff. Bride takes me back to the days of growing up in a super conservative home where my mother would toss out my "devil's music" she found in my room like a prison warden doing cell checks for contraband. She would raise an eyebrow to Petra, Whiteheart, Rez Band, Bride but let me keep them as they at least "shared the message" 🙄 Then I'd go over to my friend's house and jam on his Crue, Kiss, Priest, lol.
When I was 13 and my mom heard me listening to Mortification she said it sounded "like demons coming through the speakers." I had to show her the lyrics to convince her it was a Christian band.
@@natelogos7662
Yeah sounded nothing like Light Force (the band that became Mort)
In some ways , some of their songs sound like G'n'R "Hired Gun" "Everybody knows my name" and ofcourse the Bob Dylan classic covered by both G'n'R and Bride "Knocking on Heaven's Door"
My favorite song of theirs is Troubled Times. Crazy vocals and heavy riffs make this a top-notch banger. Check it out!
Hey I literally just listened to that one 🤩
I started listening to Bride in 1988
Loved Bride in high school! 🤘
Snakes in the Playground was one of my teenage albums. Loved Dale's voice.
My favorite song off that album
They’re still making albums, as are Stryper, Bloodgood and Whitecross
Their best two albums are Kinetic faith and Snakes in the playground. absolute must listens
The Best Reactions. God Blessed From Brazil!!!!!!!
Living under a rock? Never heard of bride! Freezing a
"I thought it was a guitar note it was so high"
yep, early Bride in a nutshell xD
Dale Thompson is just something else. Don't know if he has reacted to the Live in Brazil gig
I still have that album on vinyl. That's when I learned what an awesome band they are.
Hola saludos desde San Ramón de Alajuela costa Rica, que clásico de pieza🎸✌🇨🇷
Read Frank Partpilo's comment below. He explains the weirdness at the end of the song.. He played bass on this album
The faces you make listening to Bride's music 😅😂
I waited for a huge sneeze or something!! Lol
The production values aren’t great, most Christian bands were on a tight budget back then. But solid musicianship and creativity. Some of the bands on their related artists list are worth checking out. Especially holy soldier, reserrection band(aka Rez band aka Rez) and one bad pig had some good stuff.
Right on Jesse- I got to see Rez Band on a double bill with Petra back in about...oh man, 80? 82? For a teen kid who's mother despised all the "devil's music" but let me go see Rez and Petra I ate it up! Good times, good bands.
Bride is a band amazing. Vocal voice 👌👌👌😈👍
Good song
You should check out the album Snakes in the Playground 😉
This sounds awesome
check out the band tourniquet. anything off of the albums stop the bleeding, psychosurgery or vanishing lessons. vengeance rising, tourniquet, deliverance, mortification, sacred warrior, angellica and a few others were all on the same christian record intense records before intense records went under.
Good morning Shane, dig this video a lot never heard of this band. I realized this was done a couple of years ago and I think you got hung up on when some of the albums came out. Did you try checking metal archives for the actual years the album came out? I checked if Bride was on the archives and they were and had the absolute years the album release dates. Keep rocking Brother and thank you for all you do!!! Cheers! 🤘🏼👍🏼👊🏼
I did not check Metal Archive for this but I do LOVE Metal Archive, thanks for the heads up!!
@@ShaneDiablo Absolutely, no worries
You need to watch the LIVE performance of this song on RUclips
He’s got the ultimate scream wow

Lol his voice sounds like a car alarm lol, wow what a voice!
The best band ....
the best expressions are here :D 11:51
LawDogg is here. 👍🏽
Silence in Madness full disc the best ..
I don't hear Judas Priest, but I do hear Iron Maiden. The one thing about these guys is they were never afraid to experiment. Sometimes it worked others not so much.
it is an amazing song
