this in my opinion where she added a title color the song because it's in a 'concert' setting rather than in 'broadway' with a more rigid technical structure. 10th anniversary of 'le mis' with her performance of this song is where you'll find that technicality. i would like to see you react to that...
Please react to her "I dreamed a dream" in the 25th anniversary of Les Miserables and her singing "on my own" in the 10th anniversary of Les Miserables.
What you said at 7:08 I also think that you can do music on your choice. Doesn't mean you gonna be bad. It doesn't sound bad anyway. Music/singing evolves.
Straight tone - good for disney Mulan Jasmine from aladin By the way, Lea was the voice of those princesses. Edited# I'm surprised U Don't know the legendary MISS LEA SALONGA
@Ella De Castro and just because most of them know doesn't mean it's required to know her to become a vocal coach. There are many artists to choose, and each of these vocal coaches has their own preferences too. And a vocal coach isn't restricted or exclusive for musical/Theatre genre. It's like saying, I have no right to be a chef if I don't know every dish from all parts of the world. Now if this vocal coach is more into Musical then that's kinda odd not knowing or atleast heard of Lea. The thing is, Filipinos have this mind set that if she is international artist she MUST be known by all. Otherwise, if one doesn't know her, then that person doesn't have the right to take that profession.
Lea Salonga has both a Tony and Oliver Awards (both for her role as Kim in Miss Saigon) and was named a Disney Legend for her role as the singing voices for both Jasmine and Mulan. She's up there with Idina Menzel and Alfie Boe, for big broadway and west end names. Odds for someone to come across Lea's name significantly higher at that point (though I would note that the singing voices for older Disney characters often get overlooked)
Really love your reactions. Love hearing your technical response alongside the emotional. Would encourage you to look at Lea singing Movie in My Mind with Rachelle Ann Go or her medley with Regine Velasquez. Also, you should totally react to Shoshana Bean. Just because she's generally awesome

I think this is the only performance of Lea Salonga where she gets carried away, where she gets teary eyed. Oh whatever reactions - positive or negative - people make about Lea’s singing and show their expertise on a lot of things about music and singing, they cannot deny the fact that she is a multi-award singing diva with her own style of singing that worked for her all through the years. Anyone can question details about her use of vibratos or not, her mixed tones, etc. but the fact is she has her own style of singing that brought her to the top of her game that produced international awards and recognition. With all due respect to Lea Salonga, because she is amazing, I’m wondering if the reason for the vibrato is simply aging of the voice.
