My favorite joke goes something like this: Q: Why are viola concertos so short? A: So violinists will understand them. :) Yes, I am a viola chauvinist... :)
....how though? This man was the 20th century Bach, and a master at his craft. I also would like to know, if you consider Hindemith overrated, what composers are not overrated? Personally i feel that most of Hindemiths repertoire has been overshadowed by his Symphonic Metamorphosis and as a result he has become underated. Take what i consider to be his most important work When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloomed for example. Seldom know about it and its one of the most important pieces of music ever written. I consider it on the same level as Brittens War Requiem.
Hindemith performs Hindemith not everyone who doesn’t enjoy this piece as much as you liKe JusTin beIbEr. I just would not prefer this over passacaglia...sorry to have damaged your superiority complex.
