People are idiots, saying he basically does it for the views because he films it and he mainly does it for the views and not for charity. Of course he films it! For one making YT vids is his job, and it's also how he raises money to do more things like this. It's a win win really: showing what he does gets more views, which earns more money which allows more help. If you ask any of the people in the video, my bet is they support both his actions and him filming it 100%.
Even if he does it purely for the views, which I highly doubt, and not to help others: who cares? There are still 100 new wells in Africa because of him, and they don't produce any less water because of his intentions.
There was similar backlash when he donated 20.000 shoes to African children. Maybe it's just that people don't want to think about others not having access to basic human needs and they lash out because his videos reminds them of it, I don't know. But whatever reason they have, it's plain stupidity.

I am not into the current "celebrities" much. I have heard about mrbeast and that he made a fortune as a YT streamer and is into charity a lot. All I see in the video is that at a Hundred locations people have now clean drinking water where they didn't before. And clean drinking water is a basic human right in my opinion. The fact that large groups of people still do not have access to clean drinking water even though it can be provided if the richer societies would just pay for it is still something that makes me sad and angry.
The only reason why mrbeast could get some backlash for this project is (without me digging into the background story) if he somehow does profit from the project and isn't honest about it. Otherwise I think that providing even one person clean drinking water should be applauded.
