I used to work for a motor company in Britain. Most of the automatic cars were used by disabled people, but a lot of other people liked them as well. For one handed driving you could clamp a spinning knob to the steering wheel like a forklift truck. :)

7:53 "Italy is a very small country"
*Netherlands which is less than 1/7th of the size of italy with a little under 3 times the population cringes* 😜
I drove an automatic once, and I have to say it's tricky if you're used to a manual! It was for work, a small truck, and because I'm so used to shifting gears I did that as well, but from D(rive) into P(arking) while I drove off the parking lot at work. Immediately came to a halt, it's like going from a 5 to a 1 in a manual. Can't recommend! Only made that mistake once 😅

I always drove a vehicle with a manual transmission all classic muscle cars. They are fun to drive automatics are kinda boring i think and I'm from the United States. That is true manual transmissions get better gas mileage to be fair both transmissions have their positive and negatives.

Automatic transmission is popular in Europe also. We have many automatic cars in the U.K. for example where I am, I drive them, and also in Europe.

I have always driven with manual transmission engines. For me it is part of the fun of driving to control the RPM and gears up or down. But I can imagine that if you have to drive very long roads without much happening during the trip having automatic transmission is just more comfortable. I am not surprised the economic reasons are the main ones deciding which type to acquire. The difference in petrol prices between Europe and the US are enormous and where I live (The Netherlands) near the most expensive ones anywhere. Having a fuel economical car is a necessity here.
The future of cars seems to be that the dominant type will be cars with electric motors and they only come with automatic transmission. Perhaps Hydrogen fueled cars become a thing and hopefully the will offer manual shifting if only because I like it :)

Interesting video Inna, I did already know what he spoke about because I researched all of these things before I got my i10, it’s the most comfortable small car and it’s very fuel efficient.
In America the cars tend to be larger and be much heavier and have bigger engines so use more fuel to add to that the fact that they’re mostly automatic gearboxes compounds the problem.
Personally, I don’t like automatic gearboxes mostly because having tried a car with automatic I found it boring to drive and found myself nearly going to sleep at the wheel! Scary or what???

Most people fall asleep behind the wheel going a constant speed, so automatic or manual doesn't make a difference.
