Very nice video 😎. Good to have trees grown up between canal / industrial buildings. The heron walking purposefully along the path struck me as hilarious!
The big building at 9.02 is the old Hovis building. Macclesfield is the home of Hovis bread, started here in 1886,.
This is the first time I’ve come across your vlogs. Now this is my idea of a gentle canal boat trip. No speeded up bits(which I detest), just gentle cruising with beautiful editing. Full marks.
Welcome aboard! Thank you. You may also like my other channel (almost no edits at all) - Narrowboat Journeys: SLOW TV ruclips.net/channel/UCI8p6Ai5hm_HSmXLXjmpNYw

Wow, thanks! :-)
Lovely stonework in those big retaini g walls along Macclesfield look very old.
absolutely lovely. so calming. thank you Phil
An evening cruise with Phil and snooker on TV,what’s not to like and a very impressive leap into unknown at the end. Cheers.
Thank you. At least there weren't too many nettles!
The Middlewood Way is the old branch line from Macclesfield to Marple, approx 10 miles and runs mostly parallel to the Macc canal
Thanks so much!
Thanks phil very enjoyable
Your videos are just excellent!
Thank you very much.
Just lovley thank you for sharing this with us please stay safe and well sending regards 👏❤️😁xxx
Thank you. You too. :-)
Really do love the Macclesfield canal ❤
One of the best I would say.
Thank you Phil, love the way the bridges make a frame around the view of the canal. Take care.
Great sound quality
Looks so beautiful. ☺
It was, even better on a good day!
Nice Vlog. Hard to believe a busy industrial estate was so close to that relaxing canal.
Very interesting especially your comments on Macclesfield Visitor Moorings. I'm hoping to make it there in the autumn so watching this particular series with great interest.
Thank you. I show the "in between" parts of the canal that most other channels leave out.
Hello there, enjoyable veiwing n Very interesting good camera work stunning scenery
Thank you for sharing your video cheers take care see you soon
Glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely😍
Thanks 🤗
There are no towpath issues at 9.47. This is simply to show people that they can't go past the damaged part you first commented on 8:30 and have to go on the roads.
It's obviously a fairly good physical thing to do, all that hauling the boat to the side and just general boating life. It would be good to know how you think 28 years of this life has helped and hindered you physically. You look pretty healthy. Perhaps an idea for a future fireside chat video?
Another great video so relaxing watching your videos. Stay safe. :-)
Thanks, you too!
Thanks for taking us with you on such a tranquil trip. Some lovely tree and shrub reflections, and a thousand shades of green. Have you started your memoirs yet?
Thank you, Not yet...
Great vlog as per usual.. Thanks..
Thank you.
Saw ur vid on mental health. Be kind to urself. My bro never married, on his own... Concerning. Lottsa men now on their own. Smaller famalies, have to move to find work, breakups . World can be a lonesome place. Also as a male u can be looked on with suspicion. Strange place nowadays
I didn’t see any flying saucers or did I just miss them? Good video
What is the very massive wall with buttresses at about 5 1/2 minutes. And the ducks don't seem to mind where they swim.
That wall just holds back the hillside.
So relaxing. Thanks for that. Though that mooring. Now that's really overgrown. Aren't you going to get a lot of insects after 2 day mooring? I'm not familiar with UK flora, but that sure looked like Queen Anne's Lace. My experience is that they harbor a ton of chiggers.
No, fortunately in the UK our wildlife is quite safe, and our agricultural pesticides have killed nearly all of the insects! It's very sad.
since you seem to like the sky and such, anyway you could record a storm? or doesn't the U.K get good storms? love to see one from a huge field , No big deal. I just LOVE storms and wondered what they could be like on a narrowboat. bet the thunder rolls around pretty good. Cheers!
I've been waiting for years to video a good storm. We have quite a few in the summer but so far they have not been close enough...
When you jump[ed off the boat at the end I can't quite tell what type of plants those are, but they look a lot like giant hogweed, watch yourself they give really nasty stings , like 2nd degree burns.
I'm well aware of giant hogweed. There was none there. I have seen it on the Ashby canal. A very impressive plant.
There is giant hogweed on the Peak Forest canal though, but has been signposted and is on the other side to the towpath
Is there a reason why you have two bikes........
One bike is better for long road trips, the other for muddy off-road use.
