I don't know if I've said this before but I know I'll say it again I really appreciate you not using any music to interlude upon the peaceful meanderings of the canals except as an outro.
"Right turn Clyde." Hadn't heard that in years, more likely decades. lol I do believe that is why I enjoy watching your vlogs, the so called Easter Eggs. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable vlog David. Thanks for taking me come along.
I don't know why I find these videos so soothing, and I think this one is my favorite so far. I believe if we had narrowboats and a canal system in the US, more people would be far less tense.
Agreed, it must be hard to get up a head of steam when cruising along at 2 - 4 miles/hour. The canal equivalent of road rage must be nonexistent except for those supremely gifted individuals
I'm all caught up so I guess it's time for a big damn rewatch of the entire playlist and see your epic character development from a novice boater that fell into the canal to a seasoned sailor that rams into the bank when he's attacked by a wasp 🖐
Yes, there's a lot of green space. Government statistics for 2018 were that England is 63% agricultural land plus another 21% open land, forest and water. In Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the percentage of non-urban land is probably even higher.
Stockton Brook pump house. Tried to have a look round but it was all fenced off. It's up for sale at the moment for about £500,000. It's our favourite canal, well until the better half fell in at Hall Green lock......... Oh LMH stands for Little Moreton Hall. 😎
As always, I enjoy your vlogs. Just an FYI, about every 2-3 months or so, I will have a Cruising the Cut day, where I start at the beginning and play all the videos (except the 2 hour not a vlogs). I am in a fortunate position during the day, that I can let the vlogs play and listen to then, occasionally strolling over and looking at the screen. I work alone in my shop, and this series is so well done, it can be both entertaining and full of great info. And, as a bonus, I get to hear about and see many parts of England I will never get to. Thanks, David, for making a great vlog series. I really enjoy it.
Sometimes, if I watch full-screen on my 24" monitor, I get the feeling I'm sitting on your boat as you cruise. Years ago, A friend was a manager in the Canal & Rivers Trust, my brother was a pilot and I had a photo business. We were contracted to take aerial photos of a number of Midlands basins and marinas. A couple of great days out in glorious summer weather circling the sites with me almost hanging out of a Cessna clicking away.
I used your videos to plan for a recent hire boat tour from Etruria to the Caldon and Macclesfield canals - very useful, thanks! I hadn’t appreciated exactly where the LMH spot was, but we actually stopped there for two nights on the way up to Bollington and on the way back! There are some nice walks from there, on either side of the canal. Little Moreton Hall on the west, Mow Cop on the east.
After nearly 200 vlogs where I'm quite sure I've seen them all, I still greatly enjoy your videos and believe they're continuing to get better. It was just today that I realized I've come to fall in love with the sound of your boat. When you say "that's it for today", I always react that it can't be done already. I hope you will be interested in doing this for some time to come.
Loved this canal. The scenery is beautiful and the gardens some folks have are so pretty. Love the one with the little gnomes. The cows pleasantly grazing not giving one wit about the boats or their drivers. Thank you so much for this part of your journey. Have a Blessed day.
Yes, I must agree that is a very lovely canal. As to that building you were asking about at the start of this v'log I think it looks like the stately Wayne Manor, so maybe it's a holiday home for Batman. A nice spot in the English country side for a break from fighting crime in Gotham and the Joker does seem ideal. ;-)
Videos like this one are what got me addicted to your channel....I can feel my blood pressure dropping by the minute (and it isn't high to start with, lol).
Nice drone shot, you caught two boats moving. I guess the beautiful Macc is your reward for braving that journey through the bowels of the earth just before the turn. The turn where you spoke to the campers in your audience, saying "For all in tents ...". And yes, I caught 'Right Turn Clyde' -- no monkeying around here.
Thanks for these vids. They are very well done. I like the commentary very much. It is a very welcome "escape" from our troubled times. P.S. I am super envious of the life you live and the canals you have available! I live near Seattle, WA. USA we have plenty of water but only a few canals like yours.
that old building looks like a pump house...Fancy living in this former pumping station next to the canal? Now you can (if you've got a spare £500k) The building in Stockton Brook will go under the hammer along with two semi-detached houses Developers are invited to ‘splash’ out half a million pounds on a historic canal-side pumping station once responsible for providing clean drinking water to Stoke-on-Trent. The iconic building in Stockton Brook - next to the picturesque Caldon Canal - is being marketed as having ‘developmental potential for a variety of uses’. Two semi-detached homes next to the handsome red-brick property are also set to go under the hammer with a guide price of £400,000. Thank you for showing it to us. Cheers, from Maryland where we have a measly 184 miles of canal along the Potomac River - most with no water in it.
What a spectacular journey and a great video David, Harecastle Tunnel? No problem. That's twice I've been through - both times with you. The Macclesfield Canal is certainly very picturesque.

Sorry to spoil the fun - LMH must be Little Moreton Hall - just down from the visitor moorings. But you're quite right - the Macc is surely one of the nicest canals
Nice vlog David . That boat/caravan has seen better days . After about an hours research i found the name of the mystery building , STOCKTON BROOK WATER PUMPING STATION , found on Google Earth after studying your vlog and canal maps , it's okay i like looking for stuff :-)

Ben Watmough Mow Cop! That reminds me of Alan Garner’s book “Red Shift” that I read when I was 16. It was on the cover of the copy I had. I went back and found it in the video after I read your comment. Thanks for the memory.
Really enjoying your aerial shots in your recent videos. Gives a great perspective to those of us who live outside the UK and haven't ever been near a canal.
Well, that was brilliant! Do so appreciate the judicious use of aerial options and proving once again that the art of editing is just that, an art. Flawless. Thank you!
Hi a most enjoyable vlog of the delivery of coal gas and diesel fuel I really enjoyed watching this as its the first time Ive got the opportunity to really see how this particular sale of fuels was delivered Thanks again 👍😁
Lovely vlog, nice to see the Macclesfield in the glorious sunshine, we did it up to Congleton two weeks ago on a very wet Friday, will defiantly o the full length soon.
Aaah CTC, I just sat down, turned on the TV and switched it to You Tube thinking "mm it must be time for new CTC vlog" when what should be the first in the recommended list but "Macc the Nice"! So with a nice bowl of spaghetti bolognese (plenty of cheese grated on top, which I had stop the video to refresh a couple of times) I had a very enjoyable time viewing number 196 and when you said "that's it for this one" I said to my dog "well that was a corker!" By the way, we can buy Maynards sweets (Australians call them lollies) where I live, in the international foods aisle of one of our major supermarkets (no I don't live in the supermarket). I often get some for Christmas! One of my favourite chocolate bars is Fry's peppermint cream; still tastes the same as it did in the day, but pity it's not still wrapped in foil!
Can you do a vlog on nightime on the boat? Perhaps coming back from a pub on a dark night and entering the boat in the dark and how you brighten it up and bring it back to life!
Yours was the first narrowboat vlog I happened across after spending a day on the canal with relatives. It is still a cut above all the others. Thank you.
Me too, first vlog, 18 months ago when i decided to cash it all in and retire to the Cut. After all my research, my new-to-me 70ft NB is being surveyed tomorrow. I'm trying to be very calm... :)
16:16 is ramsdell hall, we used to moor up opposite, its really shallow and you have to use a gangplank to get on and off but somebody told my grandad not to moor there once so he made it a thing we did (whenever we were going bosley locks which tbf was most weekends up to roughly now) he was real stubborn like that, bless
I'm sure many people have said this, but the titles on your video thumbnails are brilliant. I'd be interested to know how much time you spend thinking of them, or do they just come to you whilst cruising?
In Victorian times, they seemed to like super-fancy industrial buildings. Google Image Search "Langton Dock Pumphouse" and "Albert Dock Pumphouse" for a couple of spectacular examples in Liverpool and, e.g., "Tiptree pumping station" for the Art Deco style which seems very common in Essex where I live.
No because Amazon have removed my videos from being free to view in the UK, with no warning or reasonable justification so I won't put in the months of effort it takes for another season. They're still free in the US. All new videos will be RUclips only.
@@CruisingTheCut that really stinks 🤬. Are you at least seeing $$ from the seasons available there? The change may be due to viewership in the UK. Just as a lark, have you tried a VPN to outside the UK to see if the episode are accessible free in the UK that way?
Yes, I get revenue from both UK and USA (but the UK side is just any purchases). They said it was due to low UK viewings but it’s a nonsense reason since it costs them nothing to host and stream it so it shouldn’t matter how many views it gets. By their logic, niche interests shouldn’t be made available.
@@CruisingTheCut you are right on all counts! Have you tried to VPN to outside the UK to view your videos? When I VPN to UK I get the restriction pop up.
"My new favourite canal", I can certainly see why, superb quality video certainly lets it shine through, just what I needed after a hard day at work, thank you, keep up the good work, just lovely!
2m28s That's the Stockton Brook Waterworks and Pumping Station. Historical site from 1884. It's actually for sale if you got a spare £400,000 lying about.
I don't know if I've said this before but I know I'll say it again I really appreciate you not using any music to interlude upon the peaceful meanderings of the canals except as an outro.
I think it would have been better with a bit of disco music in the background, or perhaps some death metal or gangster rap, teehee

LMH = Little Moreton Hall, a National Trust property not far away, worth a visit if you have time.
Sitting here on a dark cold winter day while being sick and watching a delightful Sunny video about cruising along a canal on a sunny day.. Lovely!
The building at 2:25 is the Stockton Brook Waterworks and Pumping Station
Awesome, thanks :)
Great video - the mooring at the end is close to a footpath leading to Little Moreton Hall (LMH) a National Trust property, well worth a visit.
RIGHT TURN CLYDE !! THAT'S BRILLENT. DIDN'T THINK ANYONE REMEMBERED THAT MOVIE !
I do like the “Q” sign at the start of the tunnel.

As always, Great video! Love how you matter of factly know where and when ducks congregate and for what!😀
Haha yes I saw their posters for the event on a nearby canal bridge ;-)
That "caracruiser" looks like it needs a little care to be cruising again.
Saw one for sale for £8K
"My new favourite canal", I can certainly see why, superb quality video certainly lets it shine through, just what I needed after a hard day at work, thank you, keep up the good work, just lovely!
2m28s That's the Stockton Brook Waterworks and Pumping Station. Historical site from 1884. It's actually for sale if you got a spare £400,000 lying about.
Great video sir. Very nice & relaxing. Great trip. Thank you. I think I'm going to have to go take a nap,
Have a great day,
