    Thanks a bunch for this, it's exactly what I was looking for but didn't know existed! Not just one of those simple temporary adapters which don't allow two-way air passage, but a permanent solution with a special valve core. Too bad they're only sold in Japan, the shipping was rather stiff, but still worth it.
    Sure, I could instead replace the inner tubes with a new set with Schrader valves, but it's a brand new bike and I'd prefer not having to service it the first thing I do.
    (Also, shame on bike manufacturers who still insist on Dunlop - single-way air passage valve cores are just a pain in the behind!)

    Just bought a bike that has these valves, which short experience says completely suck. Found these valve convertors on Amazon Japan (Panaracer ACA-2 Air Check Adapter [Set of 2] English to Schrader Valve Conversion). Had to get a new Amazon account to be able to order. Delivery is murder but I can't be bothered having to swap two inner tubes on brand new tires!

    My misery was a Presta only pump I needed to use on the occasional Schrader.
    If presta's didn't have a stem core that broke or bent. I would be better off, adapter cost half the price of a pump
    Thank you very much 19th century

      Hope you can read Japanese! These don't seem to be sold in Britain. I read a comment asking if you have to leave this on the bike, or if there is an adapter just for pumping up the tyre. I have such an adapter, but the difficulty is that the pressure guage doesn't show the tyre pressure with this adapter. Hence the need for the on on this video. Ah well, since I do not read Japanese, I guess I need to put new inner tubes in this new bike...

    There is no an adaptor only for pumping air? It must stay permanently on the tyre?

      I'm not certain as I don't have or use the Woods/Dunlop type, but I *think* they're more-or-less pump-compatible with Presta valves. So if you have a Schrader pump and a Schrader-to-Presta adaptor -- which are a common thing in these parts, and only cost a couple of quid -- you can use that with an in-place Woods valve too.

    • @n2n8sda
      @n2n8sda 3 года назад +1

      You can pump a woods valve with a presta pump, you can also buy a screw on adapter to allow a schrader (car type valve) pump to be used that doesnt change the whole valve like in this video and you remove after filling with air, search for brass presta to schrader adapter, the ones with the o ring at the bottom seem best, pennies to buy as they are just a size changer

    Absolutely useless. I just watched a guy pump up a tire using an adapter.
    I was looking for purchasing such an adapter, I will never get this four minute of my life back.

      The point is replacing the actual valve assembly, not just using an adapter to inflate an existing valve. Helpful to me to know this is an option for the antique wheels I'm working on.
