Idk how it makes sense. It’s simple. Dak had 8 all pros on his team and a top 5 defense. 90% of starting QBs can be at least a first round exit w/ a roster like that. Why pay a guy $60 million when I can get the same results w/ someone like Jordan Love, Joe Flacco, Geno Smith, or Kyler Murray.
I could save much more cap space by paying those guys i mentioned significantly less AND sign even more talent to help them have more success since I’m not paying $60 mil at one position anymore.
Or I could draft a rookie QB and surround him w/ tremendous talent. It just doesn’t make sense to pay $60 mil to a QB for a first round exit when I could pay virtually any other QB significantly less, improve the roster even more, and get to the same place or better.

Just because you start at QB for a franchise does not make you a franchise QB. Pat Mahomes is a franchise QB, he just won the superbowl with the worst offensive unit he's had in Kansas City because the front office chose to focus on the defensive side of the ball the last few years. They could do this because they knew Mahomes would make it work. Dak is not that guy. Never has been, never will be.
Mahomes is a generational talent. The majority of franchise QBs are not including Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Lamar. Those have not either won a SB.

Accumulate as much work and understanding of the reads and subtleties of QB play you so egregiously lack, and develop quietly while Russ does the heavy lifting. Fields could be to the Steelers what Jordan Love is to the Packers.
Well, I think JF isn’t terrible, but he’s just not a legitimate quarterback. He plays more like a running back. Because a quarterback should be able to plant himself and throw the ball. He doesn’t do that. In fact he’s never had a winning season. Yet, some people think he’s a competent quarterback. Not yet. After three years in Chicago and NO WINNING SEASON, NO PLAYOFFS - 10 games in three years! Although he is a great guy in the locker room, runs like a running back, however, this does not equal a competent quarterback.
As a Lions fan im glad he is out of the division. He's the only qb that made me sweat fr. During Cutlers run my lions would still get 2-0 or at worst 1-1 vs the bears (Post 2009)
