Wow Christy what an amazing win for you that day! Almost 40 years later. What a gem of a episode from when tpir was as it's peak (late 70s to late 80s). Tell us more about your experience that day and the prizes you won. Thanks for sharing
Congratulations, Christy! What a great episode - you and the first three winners were on fire! Thanks for uploading and including the original commercials. Nancy Frangione (Tara on All My Children and Cecile on Another World) in the Hefty commercial @ 46:05.
Oh my. I have been watching TPR for years via RUclips here in Finland (mostly the vintage ones) and you are the first winner who truly looks happy and moved. And it was just a pleasure to watch your play.
Also the following are the Prices that you will get when you multiply them by 10. $0.55 = $5.50 $0.59 = $5.90 $0.95 = $9.50 $0.99 = $9.90 $1.19 = $11.90 $1.59 = $15.90 $1.99 = $19.90 $5.99 = $59.90 $9.59 = $95.90 $9.99 = $99.90
Molly Ringwald and Missy Gold in back to back commercials! This is such a fun video! It takes me back to wonderful days! They weren't perfect, but I remember having hope for the future. Thank you!!
I love these old-school commercials in the video. I was almost turning three years old in 1981 believe it or not. Rest in peace Bob Barker, and johnny olson. By the way, my late mother and I would used to watch the Price is right in Alameda California where I am originally from. Our channel that we would watch it on would be KOFY TV 20 at 10 AM before Perry mason program came on. And of course, this was before I started preschool.
Clearly super smart too...I can't recall seeing many get 21 the hard way like that in that game, usually the way it'd happen is going the times 10 route (or choosing a product with a price that ended in a zero), and then getting the one that was the exact price as she did here for the Ace. Great job Christy! :)
Also for each of those 6 One Bid Prizes & 2 Showcases, I would have guessed the following. Bunk Beds: $940 Microwave Oven: $550 Wall Clock: $650 Wood Burning Stove: $900 Sailboat: $695 Ceiling Fans: $496 1st Showcase: $9,500 2nd Showcase: $7,777
I was only four years old and in preschool when this episode aired. I remember that a couple of the younger teachers at the preschool I attended with the vintage 1980s hairstyles. I don't remember this day, but I remember the next day on Halloween of 1981. I was the Incredible Hulk and I got to go trick or treating with my older siblings in our neighborhood we lived in at the time. Damn, I miss the 1980s and was so lucky to grow up during that great decade.
Thanks for sharing this. My mom used to love TPIR. It would air at 11:00 am EST right before The Young and the Restless which she also loved. I think that this day however she was a little preoccupied. I was born at 11:20 am on October 30, 1981 in Washington, DC. Lol
It WAS the Family Feud theme, just using different portions of it than were typically heard on the actual show back then. They used it as a car cue for quite a long while in this period, not sure when it began, but they used it till around late 1983 or so I believe.
The Hit Me game is underrated IMO. I liked the Poker Game, too. Never understood why so many people seemed to have trouble with it. You played it perfectly & this was a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for posting!
Early playing of Blank Check with no music, reversed order of the displays for the prize value and amount of the check and "LOSS" for the total display.
@@darrylh1971 Well, maybe unlikely, as they happened to still offer fur coats and other animal-related prizes at least early in the season. Most likely by September 13, 1982, Bob began his animal rights and no longer offered such prizes like that. Let's focus on hoping we'll go beyond February 27, 1982.
I was only 23 when this aired people really knew how to dress sharp back then. The women were gorgeous.Oh and Bob Barker looked like he could be in GQ.magazine Thanks for posting this Christy and the best of luck to you in whatever you're doing.😊
Apparently I haven't watched enough of these great TPIR clips, lol, but I think that's the first time I've ever seen a winning contestant come up to the stage from the LEFT side steps?!? (i.e. Danny, the first winner) 🙂
Rare early playing of Blank Check. Bob doesn’t have his “do you know how to play this game?” spiel, and no think music yet. So intriguing to see the games that have lasted for 40+ years in their rawest form.
I prefer to watch the old Bob Barker episodes of TPIR. Late at night, I will have on Roku TV TPIR: The Bob Barker Era. Bob Barker was the GOAT as far as game show hosts go. I have nothing against Drew Carey, but he just could never, and still cannot, fill Barker's shoes. He was just more engaging and charismatic with the audience than Drew is. And George Gray is like a piece of dead wood as an announcer compared to both the late Johnny Olsen and Rod Roddy. They both were so much better and fun to listen to than Gray is. And I know they are all old now, but the Barker's Beauties with Janice Pennington, Dian Parkinson, and Holly Hallstrom were so damn attractive back in the day. Carey's Cuties are very attractive, don't get me wrong. But they had nothing on Barker's Beauties, that's for damn sure. And Christy, if you don't mind my saying so, you were very attractive back then. And looking at your profile pic, you still are. You definitely could have been another Barker's Beauty.
I share your sentiments. I love Bob Barker. All the old episodes with Bob, Johnny Olson, even the late Rod Roddy. Now Bob is up there with his two sidekicks. May all three of those gentlemen rest in peace. And also, he is up there with two of his former bosses Mark Goodson, and Bill Todman. And the rest of his Goodson Todman game show host and announcers up there. I even watched the ones with the surviving former price is right announcer rich fields. He was the one in my opinion the best person who took Rod Roddy‘s place.
It is Molly Ringwald. The little girl she was carrying was on the TV show "Small Wonder". Her name is Emily Shulman. I don't know who the little boy is though. Probably someone famous.
CBS studios, thankfully, sent me the check before it was aired… I bought a VHS at Fedco (over $700) and that’s I have this recording. Also, with the help of my son for transferring on DVD and my lovely daughter-in-law helped put up on my RUclips… btw, I will have the date aired updated❣️

Number 3, bidding 1 dollar more than the person besides you is totally NOT FAIR! And Barker don't change the biddder's order so it is always the same bidding second to last. Bidding 1 dollar more is a lazy bid. The other contestant had to made up his mind. Should have a rule that forbids bids under 100 dollars to each other. When a contestant made up his mind and bids 1,000 and the other next to him-her bids 1,001 dollars, the one with the 1,000 dollars bids CAN'T win. Kind of cheating.
