    I never watched the Price Is Right before, my mother said it was the go to show when she stayed home from school. She didn’t watch the Price Is Right anymore because it’s not the same without Bob Barker.

      Tell your Mom she is so right! I watched the Price is Right when I was a kid in the 1970s and 80s, and Bob Barker was the BEST. The show was not the same after he retired. That’s why I only watch these episodes. Your Mom is very wise! 👍❤

      Well, she can watch The Price is Right on Pluto/Roku/Plex or on Buzzr now which has classic episodes from the Barker Era, mostly from the 80s.

    I remember Bob Barker as a member of the Greatest Generation. I as a Gen X'er grew up watching him on "The Price Is Right". Besides that game show, he also hosted "Truth or Consequences". He hosted the beauty pageants. He appeared in the movie called "Happy Gilmore" with Adam Sandler. Mr. Barker passed away today at 99 years old, less than 4 months before his centennial birthday. I miss him.

      He also I learned yesterday was a Naval Aviator and flew the great bent wing fighter F4U Corsair although WW2 ended before he had a chance to see any action.

      It was also the last show to continue to do so, until 1996, save for a single episode in 1988. The last new major network show to use mechanical credits IIRC was 1984's Body Language.

      Ahhh! Ok, now I understand. The commercials were not 1980 era, so I was wondering why. This was (re) aired in 1998, so the commercials are 1998 era commercials. Got it

    Why in the world would they offer season tickets to L.A. sports teams when a more than healthy number of people who make it on stage are going to be tourists? O_o

    • @pannoni1491
      @pannoni1491  8 месяцев назад +1

      There actually has been season tickets offered recently in a Showcase where it was to the team of your choice, but I'd imagine someone could easily from their hometown look up the number to the LA Times' classified department, explain their situation, and a mail out the tickets when someone calls the seller, and still make some money off of it. The Dodgers won a title the following season and the MLB had just come off its highest TV ratings ever for the World Series, while the Lakers, starring Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Earvin "Magic" Johnson were the defending NBA champs, so those teams would be in particular high demand.

    It may have been a great salute to Mickey Rooney, but that Model A Replica? How are you supposed to drive that? Couldn't they have just tried to have her bid on a new car instead?
    The cars may have been won, but...
