I had a bad feeling based on the history of the killing game. Our friendly giants Sakura and Nekomaru never made it past the 4th trial. The legacy continues.

Nekomaru died cause Gundham decided to save everyone else of the Funhouse, so them wouldn't starve to death.
And Gonta get executed for killed Miu cause he wanted to stop the killing game, and then, nobody would have to experiment more despair.
So, in conclusion...
-Sakura committed suicide for stop the battles between the group.
-Nekomaru get killed by Gundham for stop everyone get starving.

Trial 6 was so painful, because of Team Danganronpa's true intentions.
My ONLY favorite trial was the first half of the 4th one. The 2nd and 3rd trials were INSUFFERABLE because of Miu acting like a dickhead and a cum dumpster all the time.
Not only do I hate the first trial, I hate it even more because of Monokid, and Miu Iruma acting like dickhead! B-But Ryoma....

i still can’t believe kaito is the same voice actor as souda. kaito’s voice is just so headstrong, reckless, and passionate. while souda is cowardly and sensitive (no hate towards souda, the man is lovely lmaoo)
props to his voice actor! his voice has so much range and versatility. i loved that he voiced two of my comfort characters

The truth could be painful sometimes, and he obviously had trust issues growing up. When he said "i hate liars!" He probably mean that he both like and hate lying, he enjoys lying, but hate being lied to. (Referring to him getting pissed off on shuichi lying to him)
Maybe he hates lying because people would lie for bad reasons, or selfish reasons like what shuichi do in class trials. Kokichi lies on surface level, and if he lies in class trial everyone would immediately not believe that because everyone knows hes a liar. Unlike shuichi

Very note worthy that Ouma asks what happens if two people are tied for a vote. Meaning Ouma intended to take just as much blame if Gonta and Ouma were to be voted as the blackened. However this also meant he knew hed survive in this tactic.
Also Kaito acting like a moron defending Gonta is supposed to be chapter 4's of the first games throw back. When Asahina tried to get everyone killed hiding Sakuras cause of death.

In this case, Kaito was doing the same thing that he did to Maki in chapter 2, *believing* in her even if there was no way to prove that she wasn't a suspect. I found it very interesting, but he failed on the 4th trial

and, as himself said, he knows everyone hates him and the villain role is perfect for him, and acting like that his intentions were probably distract everyone from the outside world and gonta's death, and also, not really looking deep into it, but even before, kokichi has some meetings with gonta, but not like the bug meet, but when you approached him in free time, 2 of the five he would say something among the lines of "hey thats cool but i have a meeting with gonta", theres more things (like the way he acted in this class trial in general, you can feel that his true self was more powerful than his liar self, when gonta was looking suspicious/didnt know what to do, he always stepped in but not in a way that made the history obvious, like saying gonta should make an excuse or whatever, to cause a distraction for the people around it) but with that said, we can conclude that kokichi liked gonta, but also liked living so he tried to do this plan with gonta. at the end tho, again, he just wanted everyone to forget the outside world and all of that, so he caused a scene since everyone hates him already
long story short: almost like a gay disney villain, hes a bad guy with good intentions
edit: i just remembered that maybe the reason for kokichi saying it was gonta from the start, is probably because he knew that nobody would vote for gonta, not even far as voting, but suspecting of gonta. you may say that "oh but he didnt want to live anyway! why would he care about choosing the wrong culprit?" cuz he wanted shuichi to live. seems kinda out of place, i know, but if you give a bit of a time into it, you will notice that kokichi was (for some reason), really trying to get shuichi's attention, when they were in the telephone in the virtual world (the whole "if i want to make a person like me, ill do everything to make them like me, even strangling), kokichi setting up a situation for kaito so shuichi couldnt investigate with him (kaito), and replacing kaito as shuichi's "sidekick" as soon as possible, also interupting every interaction shuichi has in the investigation, and im pretty sure if you talk to him in the middle of the 'after body discovery' idk how to call that, he'll say something among the lines of "hey i know you dont trust me at all but :))". theres some thing in the middle of the trial like the shumai thing but idk if i should count that lol. the main point behind this kokichi wanted shuichi to live thing is because in chp 6, when maki and shuichi go see some thing on his room, they found out kokichi marked everyone as suspicious, EXCEPT shuichi, who was marked as "trustworthy?", and that, for kokichi, is a hell of a big thing. (also he gave up on covering gonta just after shuichi tried lying to him, so that maybe pissed him off and gave up on trying)
tl;dr: kokichi just gave up on covering gonta's acts cuz he wanted shuichi to live, may be other reasons and all but the most noticeable one is this one. also, he may wanted some other people to live but it aint so explicit, so i aint really counting

Kokichi may lie very frequently, but he usually never strings lies together. He mixes them up, thinking of them as he goes.
When he does strings lies together though, he has to think about and verse it in his head before he puts it out.

EDIT: Also, there’s something about his character that no matter how much we analyze, and how deep we research his character, we’ll never know his true character. It’s always going to be speculation and headcanons and opinions mixed in with what we know and/or believe to be canon to characterize his character as misunderstood and necessary evil, or actually evil. Which is why he’s fascinating on a storytelling standpoint.

Kokichi was a tragic hero - an irredeemable person, by then. He probably knew himself that he was far from forgiveness, and honestly, it's good that he died- otherwise his actions wouldn't have been questioned.

Actually... I'm pretty sure Kokichi's lie was about *not* caring about Gonta's death, instead of his crying act. Especially given what we learn about his character in later chapters, I think he actually did regret what he did to Gonta. Maybe not for having Miu die, as she was becoming more of a threat to the remaining students, but definitely Gonta.

I believe it mostly because of spoilers from chapter 6 that go further in depth on Kokichi as a character. Plus, while he can be a manipulative little shit, he does usually do things that actually shows that he cares about people. Just not in the normal way. He wanted everybody to watch the motives so they could watch out/support each other (and take away the motive's power), he didn't want Gonta to fight the Exisals and get hurt when he was feeling useless, he encouraged Himiko to cry after the third trial, etc etc. He really is a nice guy, I believe. He's just a VERY good liar.

Gonta is probably the only person Kokichi feels closest to. Ouma’s lie was actually him faking to care for Gonta, but him crying over it was the truth. From what he says, him making a plan to end the killing game was true since he tried it again in the next chapter. If he was hated by everyone else, then he’s more likely to be blamed for murder. However he needed to develop that hate which is why he only conduct his plan by chapter 4. Gonta is the only person who would accept that plan despite Ouma’s reputation. Gonta is most likely to actually care for him considering his personality. Ouma never experienced that and was emotional but he couldn’t drop the act even for him. Kaito agreed to his plan since he had no other choice. The reason why he had Gonta kill Miu was for 2 reasons. He wanted to end the killing game without anyone experiencing the painful truth, considering his talk on how some lies are good. The other is to make sure that Miu wouldn’t kill anyone else. He lies, so that he can protect everyone. He lies to poke fun at people, yeah but mostly to protect. He hated the killing game from the start but hides it under a mask. Gonta was the only one to take that risk in which Ouma is grateful since he knows what was out there. He could know the whole killing game was a lie from the beginning but that’s a stretch. He truly cares for Gonta, finally experiencing what it’s like to care for someone with someone who doesn’t see him as a bad person.
But hey, that’s just a theory.

Tbh, I was mad that Kokichi called Gonta an idiot especially after he died, even if it's a lie,
but only one I blame for all of this is Tsumugi.
@@thomasedison5453 Everyone was insane before the killing game. In my opinion, it gave everyone a second chance at sanity. Its tsumugis fault kokichi is the way he is in the game though so that she can be blamed for.

GONTA DIDN'T DESERVE THIS SHIT
I think Kokichi's tears at the end were genuinely real. He paused and stuttered a lot before his outburst, (when he says he didn't care for Gonta) which only happens when he is actually upset. He only said he didn't care and acted like a maniac to hide how he really felt about him. Before that outburst, he showed a deeply upset facial expression (with his eyes hidden) and said he didn't want to talk about it. There's a voice line of him yelling Gonta which sounds really desperate. His whole “evil” personality was a facade. Deep down, he hated the killing game and wanted it to end, even if it SEEMS like he loved it, it’s all a mask. The reason he got mad at Gonta was so he could detach from him, so he wouldn’t be depressed like Shuichi was after Kaede died. It was also a coping mechanism, to try to tell himself that Gonta’s execution wasn’t his fault, but that failed, and he got sad as a result. But Monokuma was getting suspicious because Kokichi previously said that he loved the killing game, so he used his depressive state, then played it off as a lie to get Monokuma off his tail.

I think so too. That he is putting on the act of being heartless, I mean. You can usually tell when he is likely lying or not due to the expressions that he uses. Those tears for Gonta were real--the expression he used was not the same one as when he obviously fake cried in the past.

Well, kokichi is the prime example of a bad role model, but I can name 3 reasons why.
For one, he'd probably just get ignored. Miu would change her plan if he *did* succeed, and they'd all be really fucked if it was the case- I doubt Kokichi finding her plan was anything more than a one time thing.

I’m pretty sure other people are going to talk about this but-
Well firstly kokichi tears before Gonta’s execution was genuine. Kokichi tried to slowly detach from Gonta throughout the trial by getting mad at him be cause he thinks if he has any attachment onto Gonta and he gets executed He’ll be depressed like how Shuichi was in Kaede’s trial. Getting mad as him was also a coping mechanism to prove to himself Gonta’s death wasn’t his fault. And in the trial he also tried to attach onto Shuichi cause he knows that Shuichi is the second most likely to end the killing game due to his smarts as the ultimate detective. But that plan failed when Gonta forgives him and he is stuck with the truth that it was his fault Gonta was about to die. And in that moment kokichi shows his true colors. But that was a mistake for him cause now Monokuma is getting suspicious of him cause he said with the motive he will continue the killing game but now he is sad. So he uses his depressed state after Gonta is executed and uses it to pull of a lie that he felt nothing to Gonta. He turned his guilt and sadness into haha I’m crazy in order to keep Monokuma of his tail.
Another thing was that kokichi’s plan to use Gonta as a murderer wasn’t for “haha I’m crazy” thing he pulls of later. It was for protection against Miu. Since he found out that Miu was trying to kill him he coincidently have the motive and you know how that turned out. And in chapter five he basically goes into self destruct mode.

Most online websites say he fake cries. Because if you actually cry your face becomes red and your nose it runny. And Kokichi is paper pale so it'd be obvious. So the websites say he prevents himself from crying and just fake cries so his plan works.

Listen, I love Kaito. But, his reasoning in this trial gets me mad. He will believe in anything that doesn't throw suspicion at his friends. The moment Kokichi explained why he physically couldn't kill Miu due to his avatar setting and if he did kill her, he would have had to stab or hit her with a blunt object, Kaito immediately tried to change the cause of death, after Maki, The Ultimate Assasin, confirmed it only could have been strangulation. He wants to find the truth by believing in others but that won't do him any good. This trial proves it. Even the people you trust or least expect can still kill. No one expected Kaede to be the first one to "kill" (I say "kill" cause we eventually learn it was Tsumigi that killed Rantaro). I'm not sure if he suspected Kirumi to kill but she did. You HAVE TO BE SUSPICIOUS OF EVERYONE AND REVIEW EVIDENCE IN ORDER TO SOLVE THESE MURDERS. People are FORCED to try and commit the 'perfect crime' in order to escape. There is no way in hell that they would be easy to solve. Suspicious is necessary. I genuinely believe Kaito's morals here are flawed.
True you have a point especially Kaitos is literally in a killing game where lying is so prominent that you basically can't just rely on your friends and how "they'll never do that" because chances are, they probably will kill you because you blindly trust them.
The secondary flaw of the case of Kaito is Shuichi "falling for Kokichi's trick" and Kaito begging for sympathy self-righteously.
I think that's one of his most important traits and flaws, he really just wants to believe in his friends and not be suspicious of anyone even if it means ignoring OBVIOUS EVIDENCE

This has got to be my favorite trial of the series. Not only did the voice actors do a tremendous job, it did bring up a serious issue in situations like this, bias and emotions. Some let those things override them and accuse those they believe is the culprit, trying to dodge facts and evidence. I don't blame Kaito at all for trying to accuse Kokichi, I mean he did do a lot of shit up until this point. And also, props to Shuichi for proving that justice is blind.

I mean I love kokichi and Gonta a lot and a lot of people hate kokichi for manipulating gonta but what else was he supposed to do? He couldn’t kill Miu himself, because 1 miu had that special setting on him and if he did everyone would know it was him and 2 he wouldn’t be able to end the killing game like he wanted to if he did it cause everyone would know it was him. If he told everyone that Miu was plotting to kill him they wouldn’t believe him. He could’ve not met up with her, but idk his real reason for doing it but I think some things he did were done with good intentions. He wanted to end the killing game. He was probably hurt by a lot of things they said and maybe they could’ve been friends (probably not with kaito or maki but with the others) if the killing game hadn’t existed. It’s really sad how hurt he probably was dying and knowing everyone probably hated him. Nobody even believed him in the end except for Keebo.
1:47:48 is one of my favorite moments in the entire series. I wanted so badly to believe Gonta wasn’t the culprit. The way that’s the first time we see that horrifying Kokichi sprite, the dramatic sound effect, and the fact it’s the first time we hear the amazing Hope VS Despair in V3...chills.

That image of Gonta crushing the case around his neck and crying just hurts, he really didn't deserve to die like he did. But, then again, neither did a good majority of the characters in this game, except maybe Kiyo but that's up for debate considering what you come to learn by the end of the game.

What about Monokuma? The guy from the first game who FRAMED SOMEONE FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S MURDER FOR THE SOLE REASON OF MAKING THE GAME MORE INTRESTING?
Despite the fact that I'm a very idealistic person, I really got sick and tired of Kaito constantly throughout this trial. It's heartbreaking to see who the culprit was and how the trial played out, but when you constantly argue against facts that already have been proven and are so friggin' stubborn that you're not only refusing to listen, but willing to cause the group to die because you refuse to face the truth and "stoop to that level", that's when I start losing sympathy.
Sure, Kokichi is a major asshole. But seriously, him constantly getting ganged up on and blamed for the crime, even though his innocence was proven, was just frustrating as all hell. And Kaito being ridiculously stubborn and close-minded and getting angry at Shuichi, who's only trying to keep everybody alive for God's sake, was even more aggravating.
In all honesty, this is the most frustrating thing in Danganronpa to me. Just intentionally fighting against the truth and refusing to listen and understand. I hated when Hina did it in the 4th trial in the first game. I hated when Sonia did it in the 5th trial of the second game. And I hate it here. I get your heart, Kaito. But seriously. Shut the hell up.
No character is perfect, here their flaws are super exploited! Ouma controlling and evil, Kaito stubborn and refusing to cooperate if he doesn't feel like it, Gonta gullible and fragile mentally... It's a nice touch, and despite how much I love Kaito, your opinion is plain correct.
He really is flawed, aybe more than Kokichi... Why do I still like him the most even with those flaws?... ... Geez, oh no, I've fallen for him!!! Send help x.x
Its already been established that most of thie shit we knew about kokichi is a lie though he just showed that he has way more agility than he claimed to have in the throughout the chapters not to mention the rock is now revealing that kokichi is Likely this danganronpa's Role of junko and kaito is obviously dangerously ill
Well, sure, I agree with you, but we are simply the audience of Monkuma's show, and being a participant is an extremely different position. Of course, from an outsider's perspective, it is very easy to just let logic dictate your actions but when bonds have been built, relationships established and strengthened, not letting some emotion sway you towards the wrong path is hard to avoid. Rather, it's a very human instinct. When we see someone in a car accident, as onlookers who had no ties with the victim, we simply gaze in amusement, or even post some image or video of it online. What happens when you are the victim's close kin or friend though? Would you simply shrug it off and say 'they're already dead, I should just accept it and move on' like a few minutes after it happened? This is a rather significant aspect of the human condition, and this case does excellently to present it, the eternal conflict between logic and emotion.
If you have acknowledged that already and still find Kaito annoying well, who am I to judge you? But if you haven't, it would be appreciated if you could step in a person's, or a character's shoe and try to relate to them instead of dismissing them as annoying and unwilling to listen to logic. Hell, irl people who have just experienced the unjust loss of a loved one often just put the blame on people who have little or no connection to the victim's death at all.
Honestly this topic is really interesting so I don't mind if you would reply in a civilised manner for us to have a conversation about it.
