Under rated because it takes a special soul to hear, see, feel, understand, and relate to her music and voice. When a beautiful angle, sings a poem from a talented poet.....you get this masterpiece!.. RIP Leonard, and we love you more that you will ever know Tori...keep making masterpieces.❣
Brilliant version. Her voice has the perfect emotion for the song and the piano is phenomenal. Jennifer Warnes also has a great version of this, as does Leonard Cohen himself.
This is very interesting. I saw him come up in my feed today. I watched when he was told at his concert of Sinead's death and tonight my husband informs me Tori is 50 and I end up looking up Tori and played Famous Blue Raincoat and you mention him. Anybody who can express emotion with this song, will capture hearts. I heard the song from Tori first and became a Cohen fan since then.
I just found out from a comment in another video that Tori covered one of my favourite songs from Leonard Cohen, now I've just read that Damien Rice also made a cover. Must be my lucky day
Thanks! Dufaults version is really good. She has a strong and raw voice, and she performs with great emotion. The guitar comp is excellent. I still hold Toris version in higher regard, though. Her dynamics are simply outstanding, greatly varying both tempo and volume. It's a masterclass of emotional and organic performing. She also has the advantage of comping herself on the piano which enables her to match her singing and comp expression perfectly. Add to that her excellent piano skills, and you have a true master at play.
Must say I prefer her studio version. This one is a bit faster, like she's trying to get to the end. I feel the piano is overplayed and a bit distracting. Stunning song of course, but worth finding her original recording, from an LC tribute album.
This is a very good version of it but I think the best one is Jennifer Warnes. Maybe Leonard Cohen. I would have to listen to those two again and pick the better one. Cohen was a genius, on and off stage.
Funny, because it took me a while to 'warm-up" to Leonard's version. I will always love Tori's version of "Suzanne" better than anybody. Just something about Tori's voice and the sound her piano makes that strikes a cord with me. Everyone has a different ear.....heck....some people even like rap. Damned if I know why.
That was presumed (thought so myself), then Cohen replied when asked about it that people believed it was about Scientology as he was dabbling in it at the time, however it was a reference to Sex! Most odd is Leonard said he was never satisfied with the song, even changed the lyrics some over the years when playing live. Crazy!! No matter what he was thinking, will always be a Fabulous Tune!! Cheers!
It's a focking Cohen song Warnes .....??? WTF you bunch of people who I can't offend but want to. Really warnes version is better? It's a Cohen song and his version is the only one. But I'm a sucker for redheads and the lady can sing. Really warnes??
The best version is the original bij L. C. Period. And the sing has to be sung by a man. Woman can sing the song beautiful maybe but they can never convince me for the lyrics.
I hate it when people put "best version ever" in the YT title. That's a subjective opinion which is not suitable for a title. Anyhow, nice cover of Leonard Cohen's song but he sings it better, as do Eivor and Aurora in my subjective opinion
The sax and Warnes more powerful voice have one feel and Tori's version with piano have a more intimate feel. I like both but I think I prefer Warnes and agree.
This is the best version because she has the pauses in some of the lines to give them emphasis. Beautiful.
Tori Amos: THE most underrated artist. I know this is said a lot, but Tori's talent was other-worldly. xx

What in the holy F.... did I just listen to?? Mind officially blown. How to take an amazing song and make it your own. Chills.
Then listen to Cohen's original one, and Baez's cover.
Try Lloyd Cole's version, it's on here too.
בלי נשים בעולם לא היו יוצרים מוזיקה מעולה!! אין כמו אימא בעולם!!!!!!!!
❤Cohen sarebbe contento di una interpretazione così sentita auguri
Absolutely loved this 🙌🙌❤️
beautiful piano
Beautiful, just beautiful. Thanks.
My favorite... Huge impact of vrious emotions shatters me every time I listen to this. Thanks for posting
thank you for posting this beautiful rendition x
Stunning. I got this cd at virgin megastore in nyc x2
Amazing.
Love it. Jennifer Warnes did an awesome version.
This is absolutely the best version!
Love Tori's version.
Leonard don't bother and rest in peace.

Ahh benim canım şarkım 🌝🌸🌿
she has the perfect nose and vocals for this
Her lips need to be on a lipstick commercial! They are perfect.
Lily Cornell Silver should cover this. Beautiful.
This is riveting, and while I am a Tori Girl since 1992, if you like this version, you MUST listen to Damien Rice's. It goes to one's core.

Tamara LaPorte cover of FBR always strikes a spell.
I love Tori since her debut, I love Leonard Cohen but the version of Luce Dufault can't be beat, she's incredible just take a look

never make assumptions with her

Jennifer Warnes did the best version
Aurora does an epic version of this tune. It's a live version recorded at a tribute concert after he past away.
She is such an overrated artist. Not a trained singer at all and sounds completely amateurish compared to Tori in my opinion.
@@Lesheer Yepp, that is your opinion
Agree with you.
I was a little distracted by Aurora's constantly moving hands and fingers wiggling in that live recording.
This one is nice but Leonard Cohens is the best.

it's good, but it's not in the running with Jennifer Warnes by a long, long shot
interesting that this song is about scientology - "did you ever go clear?" and Tori was dating Eric Rosse (a scieftologist) for years.
It was a Leonard Cohen song. She didn’t write it.
That was presumed (thought so myself), then Cohen replied when asked about it that people believed it was about Scientology as he was dabbling in it at the time, however it was a reference to Sex! Most odd is Leonard said he was never satisfied with the song, even changed the lyrics some over the years when playing live. Crazy!! No matter what he was thinking, will always be a Fabulous Tune!! she didnt write it dumb dumb
It's not "about" Scientology. It has one peripheral reference to Scientology
This is FAR from the "best version ever".
It's a focking Cohen song

Aurora is not a singer. She is not comparable to Tori in any way. It is comparing an amateur to a true artist.
Agree on you!
Yeah, except for the fact that it's the best version ever. 😮
Not close. Jennifer Warnes is by far the best.
What? Really? I disagree
Oh please. The Jennifer Warnes version is too karaoke and close to the original. No depth at all.
Baez all the way. And just so we are clear, nothing comes close to Cohen's original.

I love Tori`s stuff, well most of it, but this song just does not work on piano. It`s Leonard`s song, lets leave it to him.
I'm always searching for different covers that rival the original. Hard to overturn that "first sample" bias.
well if you love toris stuff you would know that she covers alot of other artists and usually sounds better then the original
@@robchavez2167 Just saying I don`t think it works on piano, some songs don`t.
Not bad but it doesn't have the emotion that Jennifer Warnes version does .

Agree

@@Scottlp2 Here's my absolute favorite performance of this Cohen beauty: ruclips.net/video/5EThJQ6efAY/видео.html
Obviously not heard Glen Hansards version
No. Sorry. She dont got the song.
