that look she drops on the audience at about 5:10 where she just stares out like she's driving a bus while simultaneously actually delivering an emotional anthem to rival the best humankind has ever scraped together... pretty much sums this woman up.
naconnell1 I totally agree. I live in the orlando area & she often opens tours here. It was about a week after choir girl tour @ Tampa show & I saw a bumper sticker that said:"IS THERE LIFE AFTER TORI"??? I chased that woman down just to say hello! She thought I was a maniac!
Amen.. It's 2022..And we are still Sooo Lucky ...Saw her twice this year..Excellent ...This tour from this video was excellent..Her music has been a constant in my life for decades now...
Ocean is wrapped around that pineapple tree. For anyone who ever looked into what that means you'll realize how fucking unreal this woman's song writing ability is. To me she's arguably the greatest songwriter of our time.
This song brings me to tears every time I hear it. A studio recording of this version would be priceless but she said herself that it wasn't really meant to be heard on an album.
Saw Tori abt 20 yrs ago i actually went by myself bc i wanted to see her do much. One of the best shows I've seen to this day. It was beautiful..Even by myself 😆
Choir girl tour? Saw her the first time then too, front and center. She was so intense I thought she was gonna burst into flames with that red hair...still the best concert I've been too in my entire life.
If you cannot determine whether or not something sounds angelic or simply a sirens song, just know that you are right. I am just glad that Tori Amos exists.
No doubt. She was a bona fide child prodigy. She doesn't even read music, she pays by ear and started composing at 5. It's the kind of genetic abberation that we deem positive because it is beautiful and brings joy, but it is truly an abnormality to be born genius.
Im telling you guys, the piano intro to this version of cooling, is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever. I am so glad to find it here on RUclips. i literally listen to that intro over and over on the DVD, letting it soak into my body. Im going to try to learn it.I LOVE IT
That's the tragedy of Cooling - she knows that the salt content of the ocean's water (her overwhelming feelings) will kill the pineapple tree; that her love for this person will eventually suffocate and kill him and though it breaks her, she has to cool down and walk away. Pineapple trees take years to grow, she's asking is it worth killing him to be with him. "Is your place in heaven worth.." Powerful stuff.
This most skillful, beautifully sprawling period of expressionfrom Tori - any recording from 02 - 04 are just beyond. A living testament to art, creation, expression, and authenticity. Love you Tori
This is so exquisite. At the end especially her voice is just angelic! Cooling is one of my favorite songs of all time, I even did a project using it in high school when we read "The Scarlet Letter," lol.
Tori and a Bosendorfer piano. A combination made In Heaven. Fantastic stuff. What a talent. I wish my girl friend played the piano. I would fall in love eveytime she played. Thanks for posting.
hell yes! i heard every word that you have said....... this is cooling......faster than i can.......... this song has always always made me crazy! i didn't hear it till venus and back and WOW! it was insane!
Definitely one of the greatest recorded live performances, in terms of sheer emotive power. Who doesn't get at least a little lost in those high soaring notes towards the end of Cooling? Who *isn't* instantly able to connect to that horrible sensation when someone else has fallen out of love with you while your heart is still very much raw about it all... I think I've seen her play this live 4 times now, and it's always remarkable and haunting. Love you even with all your vowel abuse, Ms Amos!
This is the song I listened to over and over again when my grandmother was dying of lung cancer and after her passing. She was diagnosed in October and passed on January 3rd. It makes me ball.
Oohh Nice Video! I was there for this show and the night before. I went with my little sister. I will never forget it. Tori amos is my fav artist ever. I love you Tori
I know your comment is 7 years old, but I'll respond anyway..my interpretation of this song has always been about a mutual love of someone whom you cannot be with as life got the timing wrong. And you both feel this way about one another, often wondering"if things had gone differently".
Jesus H. Christ that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Holy F. Wow. Don't care if the thread is 2007. Ppl. need to see this in 2021. EDIT: and in 2024.
The syncopation at the into was just the most gorgeous piece of music and so totally Tori ... what luck I was here in this moment!
2024 Feb 14th
Absolutely beautiful on every level.
All these years later...still.
that look she drops on the audience at about 5:10 where she just stares out like she's driving a bus while simultaneously actually delivering an emotional anthem to rival the best humankind has ever scraped together... pretty much sums this woman up.
this version is BOMB. We are so frickin lucky to have Tori Amos in this world...

Yes, I always say this. We are blessed to have been born at this time. With her. Some had Einstein. Others Edison. We have our beloved Tori.
@@realmofthesacredroots9960 Your comment made me speechless for a moment.
Thank you for that! ♥
Amen..

Tori Amos is my absolute favorite, just plain out beautiful 😍❤️🥰, magical …
Listen, poor children, who didn't live in 90s. That's how the real music sounds.
Lol, I'm of the gen-z and I'm lucky to have learned about the real musicians.

“But fire thought she really rather be water instead….”. My anthem for a great many years. Thank you, Tori Amos
What does it mean to you?
I saw this show… and when she went into this song she crushed me hard! And that moment I was in love! ❤️ you Tori!
"is your place in heaven worth giving up these kisses?" some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written.

This song brings me to tears every time I hear it. A studio recording of this version would be priceless but she said herself that it wasn't really meant to be heard on an album.

Her intros are masterful
If you cannot determine whether or not something sounds angelic or simply a sirens song, just know that you are right. I am just glad that Tori Amos exists.
I must say as much as I love ALL of these ladies, Tori has a bigger mastery of the piano than Joni, Laura and Kate.
no question
No doubt. She was a bona fide child prodigy. She doesn't even read music, she pays by ear and started composing at 5. It's the kind of genetic abberation that we deem positive because it is beautiful and brings joy, but it is truly an abnormality to be born genius.

"this ocean is wrapped around that pinapple tree" is beautiful

Absolutely. That's my favorite part of this song.
My soul is melting......so beautiful

Hey Tori you have the talent to touch nerve endings some people never knew they had before.........
A Goddess & her piano! To my Chelsus. I ❤️you sister!
What happened to Tori's voice from 2003 to 2005? This is probably the last live vocally perfect version of Cooling!
My translation: time goes by much fast than I can deal with this.
I know your comment is 7 years old, but I'll respond anyway..my interpretation of this song has always been about a mutual love of someone whom you cannot be with as life got the timing wrong. And you both feel this way about one another, often wondering"if things had gone differently".
Heaven in sound waves.
Damn when she looks at the camera it’s like she’s Staring into my soul
We love you Tori ❤
LUV LUV so much
wow, this IS a great version.
THAT INTRO!!!!
I totally agree. The dvd, in my opinion, demonstrates her best recorded performances ever. I love the version of Crucify.

mesmerizing,,,,,,,
I give a damn too...
Absolute class, the most angelic voice.
There is just no argument! THIS....is the most insanely beautiful version of "Cooling" ever!
The whole Welcome to Sunny Florida DVD is probably the best set you can ever see. It was a truly golden age of Tori.
Jesus H. Christ that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Holy F. Wow.
Don't care if the thread is 2007. Ppl. need to see this in 2021.
EDIT: and in 2024.
