    Thanks a lot for your recipe and the simple technique you demonstrate. I've always shied away from trying to make marshmallow squares because I only saw the ones using hot sugar syrup poured over the bowl ingredients and didn't want to go that route. This I will definitely try!

      That is so sweet, I'm so glad to help you and meet up to your mom that is a honour xo. Thank your sister for her lovely comment as well, enjoy your baking today together. I have a soft crust recipe here for you if your wish to have a bottom on your Marshmallow Squares, this is the crust I use for my Lemon Squares but they will work for any square. Enjoy :) Bonita
      SOFT CRUST
      2 Cups Flour
      1 Tsp Baking powder
      3/4 Cup White sugar
      2 Cups Coconut unsweetened
      1 Cup Melted butter
      Mix the first four ingredients together in a bowl.
      Then add melted butter, mix together.
      Divide mixture in half.
      You will need a square pan line with parchment paper, and put half the mixture in the bottom and press down. Bake in a 350º oven for 30 minutes, don’t over bake. ( LIGHT CRUMBLE )
      Let cool and remove from pan by pulling up the parchment paper from each side, place on the counter.
      You can use half the amount because you don't need anything at the top of your marshmallow squares, or half the recipe. Enjoy...

      @bonitaskitchen  3 года назад

      Thank you Rebekah for stopping by and leaving a message. When using gelatine is how marshmallows is made. I guess there is other ways but thats why its called marshmallow because of its texture. I hope you get to make them and enjoy......:) Bonita

    My mother used to make these but with a shortbread bottom. We jokingly would call them “ rubber and cement”. We all loved them.

    I have to purchase vegan marshmallows or make it with agar agar. I have no idea how much I would use in place of gelatin I don't know anything about the conversion rates.

    • @bonitaskitchen
      @bonitaskitchen  6 лет назад

      Hi Elizabeth: Thank you for your message, thats a good question. I googled the question and it said substitute powdered agar-agar for gelatine using equal amounts. 1 Tbsp of agar-agar flakes is equal to 1 Tsp of agar-agar powder to two cups of liquid. So if you google the substitute you will get the right amount to use if you like to make this recipe. I've never worked with agar-agar before so I can't help you. I hope that helps. :) Bonita

      You can but you still will have to use a food colouring to get the colour you need, thank you for stopping by and leaving a message. :) Bonita

    Do you have a cook book? To me it appears you have a display behind you that has a book or pamphlet. If you do, I'd like more info. I love hand made publications. Thanks for sharing! I should have waited to the end of the video... no need to reply now.
