But how do they shine compared to gmk. I've seen some mixed comments - some people say the shine less, or take more time to shine compared to gmk, yet I've seen pictures of dcx wob sets where the shine pattern looked awful, almost as if the surface of the caps was treated with some additonal coat of shiny plastic that becomes horribly washed out once the shine kicks in.
Do any of your gmk sets have enter keys with inconsistent lettering? I have a gmk yuri set and the second "e" is much bolder than the other letters on the keycap.
i wonder if i got a different mold buying this set in 2024. i feel like my shift key doesnt look as bad as the example shown here. could also just be because this is such a close shot. idk
Extremely thorough, just what I was looking for. The one thing I believe you missed: comparing the stepped caps lock keys. Thank you for your effort, just grabbed a dcx wob set!
Both GMK and DCX have some random kerning problems. GMK additionally has some wonky characters (the @ and the W are particularly bad offenders), inconsistent line weights, and kind of a "melt-y" look that may be due to aging molds. The DCX Shift key is annoying, but overall I think their legends are better than GMK's by a pretty big margin.
Thank you for your input! I disagree, but I’m going to make more videos like this so I’ve made note if your points so I make sure to look at them moving forward.

@@Raptor-ln2mr WHOA! No! I just spot checked a few of my sets ranging about 18 months of production times and none of them are nearly that bad. Some fuzziness as I showed in my video, but nothing nearly that dramatic including my two kits of GMK WoB from Drop that I bought about a year apart.
How consistent are the legends on the number row as far as the distance between secondary and primary legends are concerned? Great thorough video, by the way! Honestly, I don’t mind the kerning issues on most of the mods other than Caps Lock and Shift (sorry, Shif t) but considering the size of Drop, I agree with you in that I would’ve expected better.
Appreciate that! Figured nearly an hour was already indulgent enough! May need to do this with more keycaps though, the response to this video so far has been great.
Honestly the only really visible different is the thickness of the font, the font on GMK is just way thicker. Every other difference is just very in-depth and not really noticable when normally using your board Really good comparison though :)
I disagree, for my tastes. I used the caps for a few days after filming this and found the kerning mistakes quite noticeable. Thought some people are more and less sensitive to that kind of thing, so if it does not bother you this is a great product line! It sounds and types very similarly to GMK keycaps, thought I do find the smoother top surfaces a little tacky feeling. I do have somewhat oily fingers though compared to others.
What I like about DCX is the way they feel when I type. The cylindrical depression feels more finger-shaped than Cherry. Going back and forth between a keyboard with GMK Cherry profile keycaps and one with DCX keycaps, the one with DCX feels comfortable and organic, but the one with GMK feels more arbitrary and machine-like, as if it was designed for a robot with perfectly cylindrical fingers.
Glad you found some caps you like in DCX! Interesting to hear that as the Cherry standard was designed so long ago now. Will be interested to see how other forthcoming cap profiles this year fare in that regard.
Fantastic video. DCX has a lot of potential, although I think Drop should have just stuck with Cherry's/GMK's tried-and-true font. The sharpness of the DCX legends is nice, but I think it translates poorly when on a board. Too thin compared to the boldness of GMK's font.
This is what critiquing is. We should expect more of newly developed products in this space. Fine is not good enough with all the bragging they did in their article. I stand by my C grade.
Clever thumbnail! I appreciate the in-depth comparison between these vendors’ WoB Cherry-like sets.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Cian! I fear I may need to get PBTFans WoB to do this again if this video does well.
You’d have at least one happy viewer if you did that 🙃
This is exactly the kind of review I was looking for. Thanks!
So glad it was useful to you!
Very informative, thanks!
Glad you learned something and hopefully enjoyed it!
Good review although in terms of budget wise i would recommend the dcx but typing on my gmk wob they look so good and crisp.
@@Twk1991 DCX is definitely the more budget friendly option and since fixing the shift mould updates I would be less critical overall.
That DCX "@" is dead gorgeous, though. I think that one key just sold me on having at least one set of DCX.
Follow your bliss, my friend! All said the alphas are generally pretty good, just a much finer font than many will be used to I think.

Some say Drop DCX are made by Ghost Judges. Compare with moding process and everything, quite similar

Do any of your gmk sets have a backspace key with “space” being noticeably bolder than the rest of the legends on the keycap
Not that I’ve noticed at least!

Could you check if the "i" keycap has and imperfections? Another video I saw noticed that gmk had an imperfection with the "i" keycap.
Both look fine to me! Is there a specific imperfection you can detail for me?
@@_IanOfEarth The video shows that the "i" has a little missing spot. Would you like me to link the video?
@@Raptor-ln2mr sure! Or let me know what search term to use, either works.
