Feels like a long dark night short day song, snowy cold, forest hills, howling wolves, and the need for a hot sauna.
Because the iconic status this song has - and because it is extremely pretty - some Finnish film makers have used this tune also, at least Aki Kaurismäki in The Worthless (1982, Anssi Tikanmäki's arrangement) and Renny Harlin is Die Hard 2 (1990).

Quite impressive performances all three of hhem, showing how much Finns love "Finlandia".
I was there at Senate Square with thousands of people singing together.

The symphony version of Finlandia was the closing song in DieHard 2 that brought in the planes. It's one of my favourite pieces.
Finlandia means Finland in polish , there is also vodka Finlandia ;)

it´s amazing that 1890 end and 1900 start composer jean sibelius (finish composer also ) make this song and now it´s passing to metal mozart tuomas holopainen to 1990 end and 2000 year magnificent man :) thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
